According to your logic Adamek would have done even better against Vitali if he had simply stayed at his walking around weight for a light-heavy. I mean if Marciano can be a 185 pound superman, then why not Adamek too!
Because they have entirely different attributes.

It's like asking 'if a 215lb Mike Tyson can flatten men in one round, then why can't a 215lb Chris Byrd do the exact same thing?!'

Again, because they have entirely different attributes.

Teddy, in 10 years of posting on boxing forums, I've never ever seen one man so repeatedly humiliate and make a fool of himself in one thread as you have here. You really need to stick to watching your tapes of B-level WBO crusierweight champions and leave intelligent boxing discussion to people more equipped to do so.

I'm an English man.

I just don't share your jingoistic obsession with British boxers who failed dismally at world level and had to opt for a low level paper title and defences against unranked handpicked opponents.

I'm more interested in boxing, not nationalities, and, as a boxing fan, men who held the undisputed title and mowed down some of the most gifted boxers the heavyweight division has ever seen impress me greatly.

If you look at these threads you'll see Johnny Nelson held a top 4 world ranking for years, sometimes as high as 2. He beat some decent world class cruisers, as did Thompson. The WBO title is a world title believe it or not.

The WBO has long been regarded as a second tier belt, the one that fighters who aren't good enough to beat the best can win. (Pat Clinton, Eamon Loughran, Paul Weir, Nathan Cleverley, Alex Arthur (interim), Herbie Hide etc etc) And/Or one that someone can hang on to for years and years and largely fight stiffs or the occasional past his best former main title holder (Chris Eubank, Joe Calzaghe, yep, Johnny Nelson). It may be seen as a world title, but let's get it right, WBO champion it has a slightly hollow ring to it.

Amen. It's not the WBU or something, but it doesn't have the same cachet, or make the same demands as one of the big 3 titles, and those are still of significantly less value than the real world title, back when there was only one. If there had only been 1 title in Nelson and Thompson's era, none of Thompson's fights would ever have been for it, and there are only two of Nelson's which might have been, and he lost them both. Sugar De Leon was the nearest either man ever got to fighting "The Champ", and that didn't go great.

Here's the current WBO champions. All world class, and a number are the best in the division;

Back around that 2000 era, you had Klitscko, Hamed, Freitas as champs. Hardly the WBU!

Eddy, it's a worry that the police would choose to employ a simpleton like yourself.

Please confirm that you are on the very bottom rung and merely sit in a car eating doughnuts and racking up your daily quota of speeding offenders.

Apology accepted Edward.

Now, back to your 'career', I get the feeling I over-stated your importance in the force and you are actually a cleaner at the local nick and just dream of being plod.

Am I getting warmer?
