I'm not saying that he didn't mention it but having only watch him box a few times when I was younger,I just didn't know.If I didnt, did average person know ?

Michael Gomez was brilliant to watch, coming in as the Irish Mexican but he wasnt associated with Travellers from the get go,I remember watching him box and didn't have a clue until he was having the bigger fights which by then he had an army of fans.

Just my thoughts and probably wrong.

Yes, it got mentioned a lot by the BBC in his amateur days. They called him a travelling showman which him and his family hated. Everyone in Yorkshire knew, he grew up in a caravan in a very big family.
Ah right,I was young and didn't really know,he seem like a nice guy on interviews aswell.

Everyone knew Gomez was a traveller. They never stopped banging on about it on sky. Born in a car....all that spin. He banged on about his "gypo pride" enough after every grueller.

Sparring means little though, there's tons of "gym fighters" out there, they look great in training but never amount to much more. Maybe the opponent Lyon was out of shape, told to go easy or was practising his defence. Former heavyweight Elijah Tillery was said to be a great gym fighter who often beat up world champs in training and was a popular pick in the sparring circuit, he didn't amount to much as a pro.

EDIT: This is Gallagher, said he was a pro boxer but can't find a record for him.

I hadn't put him in the HOF, I'm saying Lyon got caned and he looked exciting. How his career would have gone I don't know, i just wanted to see it.

Oh geez, what a small world! I hope he is well, and whatever he is doing, he is happy!

He struck me as a great fella!

The national average of Christians is 54.9% but in Rotherham it is a whopping 66.5%.

Everyone knows that the real power in Rotherham lies with the Chuckle Brothers, not Muslims.

No I am not. Was never raised that way, or ever dealt with gypsies and travellers until I was in my twenties. That being said, Father's side was Scottish/Irish/Bavarian, Mother's side was Scottish/Irish/German/Native/Gypsy/African. So I guess, considering by and large my family came from people that nobody really wanted, or were forced into places nobody wanted to settle, etc. it's pretty easy to understand the mindset or culture that Fury came from--- cus our family was sort of closed off from others in one regard or another (you didn't come into our neck of the woods, and in turn we didn't go into yours).

John Fury is probably the toughest man in British Boxing at the moment. Absolutely terrifying, there is an aura when this man walks into the room. You can literally smell the tension in the air.

The usual nerds on here slagging him off, would be shaking with fear if they even glanced in his direction.

I KNOW Frank wouldn't be intimidated. That was the beauty of this thread. He mixed in total lunacy with some very strong info that was very plausible.

There's been a Peter Barlow posting on Checkhook for ages, with the same viewpoints as this guy. Don't think it's the Notorious PIGG.
