For Parker it’s hard to quantify the physical and mental impact Of that head butt.
Physically it may have taken a while to clear is head , many times you hear of fighters being in a haze for a few rounds after something like that.
Also psychologically going down for the first time in your career AND knowing the referee shafted you would make some fighters lose confidence.

I imagine he didn’t know it was a clash of heads until after the contest

115-112 Parker for me. Wouldn't argue a close Whyte win, was a close fight.
Sky's commentary was plain embarrassing tonight.
Don't think many here would have it like that ,
I thought a close but definite win for Whyte
Fair enough. Wouldn't argue a close decision either way but talk of domination is frankly deluded.
Agree with that mate it was a competitive cracker of a fight

The fight was damn good. Whyte surprisingly outboxed Parker. The early knockdown was scored mistakenly by the ref, but still Whyte was better from the beginning. Parker was able to shine a bit at the end of the fight, credit to him, but still he clearly lost. Probably Parker became overrated afterJoshua fight, where he apparently looked good due to Joshua's decision to box cautiously. Whyte has improved anyway.

No point.
Parker gave up after 4 rounds. No hunger, no fire, no dog.
You must of watched a different fight to me mate, parker was the boss till the headbutt knockdown,he has never been on the floor so it must of been a hard clash with the head. I think it took a couple of rounds to get his head together after it. No dog? He was always in the fight and dropped whyte last round had him rocked in round 11. If the headbutt had been seen then the fight could of been a draw. Dont be too hard on parker he is a quality boxer(probably the best boxer in the division) and an even better human being.

He was turning away at times it seemed, reluctant to let his hands go too, especially with anything he was sitting down on. He was allowing Whyte to rough him up too. He was never going to get any protection from the ref in the UK ( it’s laughable how our officials go about their stuff ) so he needed to show Whyte he couldn’t push him around imo.
He seems a little passive.
None of that detracts from him being a top bloke. It’s not an insult either, it’s probably just his nature.

Its crazy how from round 1 till the headbutt it was whyte throwing shots with caution almost reluctant to let his hands go because parker was so quick with his 2's 3's and 4's but then when he got knocked down he was the one cautious. We need to get to grips with our officials before we become the new germany

If the headclash caused Parker to be buzzed and go into his shell, to be fair there isn’t much the officials can do about that.
Looking to score anything a knockdown in favour of the home fighter is a joke. It happened in the Benn fight earlier in the night too. British officiating is as biased as anywhere else imo.
Right at the end IJL warned Whyte for his pushing, far too late for it to have any impact, and then he gives Whyte every chance to recover and for the clock to tick down after Parker dropped him.
Parker only has himself to blame though imo and credit to Whyte of course.

Ye true, parker is a great scalp for whyte and to knock him down for the first time in his career is a great achievement for whyte,he has grown on me the past few fights and i love his attitude of fighting anyone anywere anytime.
This is what boxing is all about, how can wilder claim to be the king of the division when the best 2 fights he has had is against ortiz(who stunk the joint out over here twice) and stiverne who didnt throw a punch in teh 2nd fight?
He has to fight whyte now there is no more hiding , no more running, no more dodging just sign the fight stickman lol

I wonder if Wilder will fancy Whyte next ?
I think it would be fun in the build up and I don't think Wilder would have it all his own way .

For once I stayed strong and never bought the PPV, it helped that I was out anyway but I knew the result I just watched it on Daily Motion on the worst link possible, it kept freezing and was a fvking nightmare to watch
I had Parker winning 114-112 though I could be way off coz the quality of the link was so poor, I thought he was more accurate than Whyte, the knockdown in the 2nd was bogus as it was clearly a headclash, I thought Parker was winning up until that point, I had Whyte coming into it in the middle rounds but he was wild and dirty as fvck, nothing wrong with the second KD he scored in the 9th though, cracking left hook come uppercut caught Parker flush on the chin
I preferred Parker's work though in a lot of the closer rounds, faster hands, some nice bodywork and its a pity he put Whyte down so late I would've liked to have seen him get the KO, credit to Whyte that's a great win but he's a dirty bastard

The quality of that link you watched couldn't have been too bad HOS mate because you just described the fight as I saw it in HD last night!

Yeah, I think that's a fair call, but I probably scored most of the same rounds to Whyte based on his psychological dominance over that long stretch. A number of those rounds were tight enough for Whyte to shade because he was the one chasing and challenging. I felt Whyte did just enough to win, but would've seen a draw had that headbutt been called. And of course, one more minute and who knows.
I've been wondering if Hatton might be a good fit for Parker as his trainer, because he might have the personality to inject more passion into Parker's work. Plus, I think they have boxing similarities, including downfalls. Hatton lost head movement and neglected his jab later in his career, for example.
Nothing Kevin Barry says in his reviews is especially wrong, but for my money Parker doesn't seem to feel the burn of disappointment as much as he needs to at this level, and Barry excuses it. Joe's better than this, but he needs to find that fire to realise his potential. He knows he needs to learn, but treats that as a matter of course if he simply keeps fighting. So maybe Hatton could guide his focus on the movement and combination punching that could serve him so well. Get his weight down to 230 and have Gorman work him hard.
Without a big change he's heading for gatekeeping in the near future, and that's beneath what he could achieve.

I think it might be time for Parker to part with Barry. But I don't think he will.
I heard Whyte say in an interview that he nearly pulled out of the fight due to a broken left hand. I bet he is glad he didn't.
