First couple of rounds were relatively close until the 3rd when it went it off, Joshua seemed to have hurt Ruiz but didn't follow through and got clipped.
It was obvious Ruiz had ability and could crack a little, I thought Joshua could either take it and launch a full out attack or break Ruiz up with some of his weapons from the outside gradually wearing him down.
Joshua had options but couldn't deliver on them, more concerning would be his chin as he looked rattled and unsteady on his feet as Ruiz marched towards him.
I didn't expect this and was completely wrong in my assessment of the fight, got to hand it to Heavyweight Champion Andy Ruiz he deserved it and fought hard, took chances and gutted it out, what an upset good luck to the guy he's about to make more money than he probably ever expected in the sport.
a fine post! :TU:

His due is that he holds the majority of the belts at HW. He earned them, he’s got them. Absolutely stunning result.

There is no crown of all boxing, and if there was you’d need to be unified to get it :TU:

His problem in this fight is, of course, politics on top of Joshua being a tank of a fighter. Hard to imagine Ruiz hitting hard enough or getting the benefit of the doubt in enough close rounds to actually take a decision against the cash cow Joshua.
Unless of course Joshua hangs his chin out to dry while throwing wild hooks trying to end the night...then Ruiz can hurt him. Never wouldve expected Joshua to fight like Cody Garbrant. Hes always been more measured than that. Piss poor.

I would actually be FAR more interest in Pulev/Ruiz than in a Ruiz/AJ rematch. I don’t like immediate rematches in the majority of cases.

If it were a close fight I'd support a rematch, but AJ got the crap kicked out of him, so I agree with you.

for those who followed Ruiz, we knew he had excellent hand skills, decent pop but mainly pop to the liver... he is the best liver puncher at HW with Miller who stopped throwing to the liver at HW vs better opposition...

Ruiz has good hands but his work rate can be surpassed rather easily vs busier HWs like Parker showed... in a close fight vs Ruiz...

It was a probability that Ruiz would outlast or catch joshua... but i seriously thought Ruiz would get KO'd... and he almost did... Joshua should've stayed behind the jab, not push for the KO after the KD and he would've caught Ruiz again and disposed of him... but he went for the kill and got caught on the inside... with shots that can be problematic for all kinds of HWs, and at the top, i can see Wilder quickly getting KO'd cold... like brutally get caught laterally and falling down out... joshua, Wilder, Fury could all get around this easily with a strong gameplan and strong execution... but tonight after the KD joshua went on instincts and never recuperated mentally... always asking his corner WHAT HAPPENED? What DID HE CAUGHT ME WITH?... Ruiz took him to wack zone and he couldn't handle it... Now even though many like Hearn will say pressure is high on joshua... I think pressure is down for the rematch... and we will see a more sururgical Joshua in the future... less bothered with the stamina... otherwise he might end up like another Price.

Yeah, but I don't think anybody would disagree that there's basically no way he couldn't at the very least fight a smarter fight against Ruiz. His strategy was just downright stupid.

Getting purposely fat and coming in massively overweight cannot be a reliable secret to athletic success, can it?

Ruiz is getting the last laugh today, though. That’s for sure!

He simply didn't know what to do when he got stunned. Every time he got hit, he got hurt. Very disappointing performance, but I'm not surprised at the performance of AJ's chin. No one single shot was blistering.

The temple shots are what did him in.

Wasn't Whyte's shot that hurt AJ to the temple too? Oh, and those body shots hurt AJ too. Took a lot out of him, I thought.
