Brook Vows: After This Fight, Amir Khan Will Be a Mere Memory!

Kell Brook has not been amused by some of the pre-fight chatter from his domestic rival, Amir Khan.

Brook had Khan have been feuding for well over a decade.

Their rivalry will come to an end when the two former world champions will collide in Manchester on February 19, live on Sky Sports Box Office and ESPN+.

Khan recently mentioned that he is battling through injuries as he prepares with new trainer Brian 'BoMac' McIntyre in Colorado. The Bolton star is also getting support from one of his former foes, WBO welterweight champion Terence Crawford, who also works with McIntyre.

"Amir is mentioning that he's got niggles. He's putting it out there that he's negative. I want to tell Khan: The fans have been waiting for years for this fight. I will turn up even if I've got two broken hands," Brook said.

"He messed about when we got contracts over the line. Now we've got a date, let's make this fight happen. I want him to turn up on February 19, the best he can be. The fans have been waiting too long. I've been waiting too long. I'm more than ready to show the world that I'm the best. After this fight, Amir will be a mere memory."

Brook is not worried about Khan's new training team - or Crawford's assistance in camp.

The Sheffield man was knocked out in four rounds by Crawford in 2020.

He highly doubts Khan can pull off the same result with McIntyre.

"I don't believe so. Amir keeps banging on about his trainer and having world champions in his camp," Brook said.

"Dominic Ingle, my trainer, has known me since I was teenager. He knows me inside-out. He knows when to push me, when not to push me, when I need a rest. Amir said he hasn't had a day off in a month. A rest is as good as a hard training session. The body needs to recover. His trainer has never worked with him - he doesn't know how to push Amir. We have no excuses.

"I'm putting myself through hell. People will remember me by this fight. It took years for this grudge match to finally get here. The fans have been waiting for this fight for a long time."

I’ve achieved a lot and made a lot in the sport, but this is one fight that I want to put him to rest. This whole issue of me fighting Kell Brook. I’m just going to put it to rest.”

“Look, Kell Brook can train as hard as he wants for this fight,” said Khan. “I honestly do not care. Look at the skill-set that I’ve got. Look at the speed, power, and movement. There are levels in this game. Kell Brook, every top-level guy has beaten him. Who has he beaten? Shawn Porter, that was a 50-50 fight. A lot of people thought Shawn Porter won that fight. It was not a convincing win.

Yes, A lot of Matchroom guys, they were probably on a fight-by-fight basis or contracts expired, but they signed with Boxxer.

I think Hearn forgot exactly how powerful Sky is.

Cross promotion on SKY is a massive thing which DAZN can't do yet, I wonder if Hearn miscalculated the value of the mentions of fights during football etc ?

Not a chance. BT Sports costs me £20 a month so I’d imagine DAZN will increase to a similar amount. Don’t think they’ll go more than £20 though.

The fighters will want to be a pretty big guarantees, but I'm not convinced Khan is that big a name any longer, his stars faded and he's been replaced by a new generation of British fighters with Fury at the top of that pyramid obviously.

The fight will need a massive push to do good numbers on PPV, there's not a title on the line, and there aren't enough casuals interested to make up for the fact that many boxing fans know both men have seen better days.

I for one won't pay for it, I'm not funding either man's retirement, and I think it is likely to either be over pretty quick, either due to injury to brook, and him falling apart double quick, or Khan getting sparked early doors with one shot.

It does have grudge value, but it's at least 5 years too late, it could have happened 10 years ago and been huge, but too much ego involved on both sides.

It took quite a bit of talking him down and pointing out that Tyson had been retired 15 years, and got battered by Danny Williams and Kevin McBride, that he'd been smoking industrial quantities of weed since then, and was 50 years old.

Even then they tried to claim 'he's fitter now than he was then, he's more dedicated' before eventually they conceded it was total and utter rubbish.

Lol James's post.... I have had a man say Marciano was too big for modern heavyweights and they wouldn't stand a change. I tried to explain the 5 Stone weight difference but he wouldnt have it. He insisted Rocky was way bigger than Lewis, Joshua etc.

Casuals can be quite fun listening to though. They often claim they used to box as an amateur and had a record of 15-0 with 14 Kos but had to retire because they couldn't find an opponent as they were too good so got bored..... or they were 14-0 with 13 kos and a draw... which was against Nigel Benn usually.......

On the second point obviously casuals are needed for big PPV success and that the fight sold out of tickets in allegedly 10 minutes bodes very well for PPV sales....

Plus the normally fairly respectful Khan and Brook obviously have some "very real and serious BEEF!" which will be reported in the Sun and on Sky news (and all related social media) and ensure top buys.....

(James - one question did you mean Tyson vs Roy Jones? Holy fights were not tickling contests lol )

The fight did sell out in that time. I'm very experienced in tickets and never got a sniff.

I hope they both give it their all. Go out on their shields.

But not looking good. I have seen Khan's training, he's going hardcore.

Khan has said he'd retire win/lose.. But I think he'd have another payday if he wins.

Brook has also said, although he can't think of himself losing, he'd hang up his gloves.
