Apollo was out of top challengers. He’d cleaned out the division and Clubber Lang had only just turned over. They also didn’t put Apollo/Rocky (the first fight anyway) on PPV.

Fury has many challengers that people would rather see him fight than McKean/Opetaia which is the key difference. Plus he’d probably expect people to pay £20+ to watch it.

Balboa was a southpaw, weighed in at 200lbs (cruiserweight). Ideal preparation for the Usyk fight later this year. Don't be surprised if his name gets mentioned as well. :box:

We didn't have this outrage when Usyk got the AJ fight. Is it because he scraped past Del? You can't have it both ways, lads.

Why would there be an outrage with the Usyk fighting AJ?

 Nice trolling.

Undisputed champion going up to heavyweight with two fights, a stoppage win and a clear win over a gatekeeper, fighting as an ordered mandatory against the unified champion, is a touch different to the Fury shambles.

Is Fury moving down, or Opetaia moving up? Be some going if Fury can match p4p #1 Usyk's accomplishments at 2 weights.

Bloody hell. The Fury brand is ridiculed and derided so much by the UK fans nowadays that he's being forced to travel as far away as possible to get an audience :o

No. As one before Usyk I think he’d be perfect.

Jesus Christ man

Usyk was the undisputed unified cruiserweight champ who had cleared out the division, was a legitimate option and also a mandatory for AJ. He also came in with a decisive top 15 win over Chisora as proof he could take the heavy punches. Opetaia has never even defended his belt, is not a mandatory for Fury's belt and most importantly not one of the legitimate options that Fury should actually be facing.

We knew Usyk would move up and challenge AJ. He was the WBO auto mando.

Jai hasn’t said a word since he beat Briedis and now Fury is chosing.

Imagine if Lennox Lewis had said after beating Holyfield, ‘you know I might go to Australia and fight Adam Watt. And then who knows, maybe my sparring partner mate, Jeremy Williams.’

Fury is fairly lucky the mighty American sports press have given up on American heavyweight boxing. Back in the day they’d have given him both barrels!

If Evander wasn't given a chance when he moved up, there wouldn't have been the controversial second Lewis-Holyfield fight.

I know you'll give Fury a lot of slack, but surely this is a waste of Fury's last couple of decent years. I kind of think you could re-visit this thread in 12 months time, and basically nothing will have changed. Maybe just another sub top-20 name on his record, that's it!
