Then Fury got twatted on the nose in the 8th round and everything changed.
I’ve been highly critical of Tyson for quite some time, but I really believe he can win this rematch, and be pretty impressive doing it.

Im not sure what point you’re making. The shot that Usyk landed to turn the fight is hardly one that he can rely on landing again, given it took until the 8th round for the master craftsman to land it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:07if twatting him on the nose is all it takes then his work is sure cut out for himKilburn wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:06 There was a point during Usyk v Fury 1, and I think I said it during the round by round thread, where I didn’t think Fury could lose the fight. 'then fury got twatted on the nose and everything changed'
it's boxing, usyk is going to twat his nose again. a hurt nose is hardly a major injury and fighters have fought and won through much worse. fury busts up most fights as well, it's hardly a freak incident to cut him up or crunch his nose. usyk figures opponents out over time and then works them over, fury was just another one usyk beat like that. reducing it to one nose twatting is rather simplistic and i dont agree with you on how unlikely another is either

Call it simplistic whatever, it was a pivotal moment in the fight. When weighing up the rematch, the rounds where Fury did well last time are worth considering. A lot of people seem to have a throbber for Usyk but he is certainly not unbeatable.

I totally agree with this. I though Fury was bossing it at some stage. If his mentality is right I think he wins thisKilburn wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:06 There was a point during Usyk v Fury 1, and I think I said it during the round by round thread, where I didn’t think Fury could lose the fight. looked to me like an intelligent fighter got the read on his opponent and eventually took over to edge the fight. tony bellew was beating usyk on the cards too. usyk constantly does this where he comes on strong as the fight progresses . if a nose boo boo impacts fury that bad it's a huge liability for him
of course usyk isnt unbeatable, albeit fury and all others have failed so far

And you may well be right, Usyk might just take over whatever happens. But if he doesn’t land an especially damaging shot on Fury, it’s not unreasonable to speculate that Fury could do very well over 12 rounds.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:22 looked to me like an intelligent fighter got the read on his opponent and eventually took over to edge the fight. tony bellew was beating usyk on the cards too. if a nose boo boo impacts fury that bad it's a huge liability for him

What he did really well was while Fury was winning the early rounds, he made him work at an uncomfortable pace.
If Fury can't climb all over him, bash him up and win in like 8 rounds, I think he will need to raise his fitness level to get a result.
The first fight was great, I'm really looking for to the rematch.
I strongly picked Fury for the first one, even lost a couple of quid to Deserter, this time, although I think it will be close, I feel Uysk will make any necessary adjustments and find a way.
Hopefully not, I want Fury to win.

I’ve never seem Usyk as tired or relieved at the end of the fight. This was his toughest match.

id agree it was overall, though briedis in round 12 arguably gave him the hardest round of all. i remember joshua having a big round in the rematch too, and then the next round usyk smacked him around
what they all have in common - usyk adjusted better than his opponent and found a way to win in the end. can someone finally get him? if usyk wins the rematch i wonder if he'll call it a day

Agreed. But Usyk wasn’t 37 and outweighed by 40lbs against Breidis. He looked old at the press conference too though might be the shaved head and suit.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:45 id agree it was overall, though briedis in round 12 arguably gave him the hardest round of all

well, he was 37 and outweighed and still won the first time...
i think fury is just as old ring wise tbh and he's always lacked concentration , hence so many rocky or off moments in his fights.
its not too long after the first match, if theyre both up for it it should be another highly competitive one

If Usyk wins the rematch he will have next to nothing left to prove. He really should call it a day.

I think it all depends on Tyson’s mentality and training. He can look awful or amazing depending on those factors.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:51 well, he was 37 and outweighed and still won the first time...

Fury's going to come forward more, Usyk will have more openings. Because of the tyre around his middle, Fury can't sustain a high tempo. People are talking about Fury hurting Usyk. Usyk had Fury's eyes rolling around in his head.

I think Usyk has the eye of the tiger. Knows exactly how to beat Fury now - and will stop him between 3rd and 7th.

Heard a few people say Fury hardly sparred after the cut as he was worried it would open up again, I wonder how much of a factor that was in his overall conditioning?

I would imagine the wholly unnecessary spare tyre around his middle will be making yet another appearance.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Oct 2024, 11:53Not much tbh.Controversial wrote: ↑25 Oct 2024, 11:09 Heard a few people say Fury hardly sparred after the cut as he was worried it would open up again, I wonder how much of a factor that was in his overall conditioning?

Usyk really is something special, I do however think his best days are gone. the first time around he beat fury by a comfortable margin and also had Fury out on his feet. However Fury did finish pretty well in my opinion and that's something to consider.
I do fancy Fury to do well in the rematch, I factor it purely on age though, not anything else. On saying that Fury looks weak around the chin - Yes his recovery power are very good, but he looks and is vulnerable. I wouldn't at all be surprised to see Usyk to stop him.

Re: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury II | PPV - 21 December 2024
I can't be the only person that thought Usyk looked a bit of a dick in the press conference? Wasn't it all a bit... Arrogant? It would be the first time I would ever say that about him. But, pride comes before a fall and all that.
Remember the first press conference for the first fight? Fury was coked up, gurning and sniffing and growling about rabbits and stuff. He looked like someone who had to snort a gram to force some sort of performance out of himself, even just to talk to the media.
There is a massive contrast between this Fury and that Fury. Fury was very professional and knows he can't intimidate Usyk and so why even try? He fought a close fight last time and can fight a closer one this time. I wouldn't be surprised if he won at all.

Come on Mags. Many fights have been turned by a broken nose. It's disingenuous to say that it shouldn't have a significant impact on the momentum of a fighter, when you know that it can.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑24 Oct 2024, 17:22 looked to me like an intelligent fighter got the read on his opponent and eventually took over to edge the fight. tony bellew was beating usyk on the cards too. usyk constantly does this where he comes on strong as the fight progresses . if a nose boo boo impacts fury that bad it's a huge liability for him

Was good to see roles reversed there a little.
Everyone knows by now what Usyk is like. He’s very respectful. Just Cus he decided to act like a ‘dick’ for once doesn’t mean he is.
