God I hate to do this because Ketchell is one of my all-time favorite fighters, but Slapsie Maxie Rosenbloom cuts his ass and wins a unaminous decision....sorry Stan!

Tommy Burns, vs Roy Jones, Jr, 15 rounds at heavyweight :box:

RJJ survives an early burns assault as he leaps and lunges with his
hard right hand. RJJ is able to land his shots from many angles
and looks the sharper of the two.
Round three see's Burns corner RJJ and bang the body hard for
a few volleys.

The fight comes to an end in the sixth after RJJ manages to
floor Burns with an avalanche of punches. After going down
and getting up on wobbly legs at the count of seven, the
referee waves it off after RJJ cuts loose with hard left hooks
and straight rights that blast Burns' jaw and puts him on the
ropes.

Jake LaMotta vs Joe Calzaghe, 15 rounds (super middleweight) :box:

LaMotta by late stoppage after a tight contest. Joe has the ability to hit LaMotta seemingly at will but not enough power to keep Jake off of him. LaMotta wears Joe down and finishes him in the 9th.

Bob Foster(1970 pre Fraizer) vs Michael Spinks (1985) 15 rounds at 175.

Toney wins a slow methodical decison win. Lots of clincjing
and countering. Neither man explodes or erupts with too
much risk.

Mayweather is not quite as successful in holding off Nelson as Pernell was. Nelson keeps the pressure on and wins a majority decision.

Jack Dempsey vs. Joe Louis, 15 rounds

The big one. This ones been talked about for the last 75 years, and it is a hard one to predict. Louis, though considered by many to be the greatest finisher in heavyweight history, and arguably the greatest heavyweight fighting machine from the waist up, and is either considered the greatest or the number two heavy of all time...always had problems it seemed with men who fought out of a crouch; Arturo Gudoy gave him trouble, and in his later years he was bulled around and eventually knocked out by Marciano...Many people fail to give Dempsey much credit when it comes to ring science, but he could box and wasn't above chasing an opponent down; Louis could be hurt, could be knocked down, could be knocked out...if Galento and Baer (Buddy) could knock Louis down [as example], I dont see why Dempsey couldn't do the same, if not more often. I predict the fight would go five rounds, in favor of the Manassa Mauler :TU:

Loughran by UD in an interesting and competitive tactical battle.

Evander Holyfield (2008) vs David Haye (2008), 12 rounds :box:

Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

Posted: 30 Jun 2008, 20:27
by Robinson
haye stops Holyfield over ten rounds, Holyfield is strong and
tries to bull his way into the hayemaker early but after
the second round he throws less and less punches and
catches more and mroe. Haye is reluctant in his attacks
throwing single shots and seldom loading up, he lands several
jabs most catching Holyfields glove and body.

The 8th round see's Holyfield attempt a rally, but to no avail
he is countered by a still fresh and to fast haye.
By the end of the ninth Holyfield is slumped in his corner, the
Doctor waves the fight off as Holyfield is unable to answer the
tenth bell.

Will he retire ... or does a Berbick in the Bahama's loom...

Re: Hypothetical Match-Up Game

Quarry blasts and counters Two Tonne Tony to a very gory and
ugly stoppage win in the 7th round. Only after Jerry himself is
wobbled in the second round. As the fight goes on, it is Quarry
who looks to be the fresher and maintains his work rate, while
Galento slows and is ultimately stopped by jarring right hands
and a jaw shattering left hook.

Quarry TKO7
