Everybody Loves Willie . . .

Hey, a Willie Nelson gift bag comes to mind from days gone by.
Willie had a bus, and he smoked so much pot in it that it smelled of THC. It went right into the woodwork of this beautiful tour bus. This is recent.
So he had been caught with weed before in his bus, and it's always publicized, etc. So he stops attempting to cross borders in posession of Marijuana.
As he's crossing over into Canada, the search dogs smell the THC in the walls and go crazy. They tear apart the bus and find nothing.
Willie was released, and he bought a new bus.
A close friend of mine is close with Willie Nelson. I've worked with him, years ago on The Electric Horseman and later on Honeysuckle Rose.
I'll never forget a little unofficial wrap party on the last day of production for Horseman. We were in St. George, Utah. On the last day we filmed, Willie had rented the American Legion Hall and he'd sent for his band, and they went on stage and performed for the cast & crew, and a few locals. What a fun time it was, many years ago. We were all young and I remember looking around the room as Willie sang a ballad, and Redford was there, and Jane Fonda, actor Richard Farnsworth and Wilfred Brimley.
Just a great guy. Everybody loves Willie.
Ill never smoke weed with Willie again : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xm34ZLlIvQg

How to get the girl . . .

Greg, I understand that Cindy has a thing for guys who can KO a Manuel's Special burrito at El Tepeyac in ELA.
Now Randy once ate 1 1/2 by himself. He can't go to Lisa's, as Cindy would be all over him and his wife Jeri would shoot her. :OhYes:
All you have to do is eat the entire burrito, and Cindy will be the desert.
Let me know when you want to try a Manuel's Special, and I will also pay for it if you can eat the whole thing.
It's a simple task, ask Remy?

Thanks Rick for the Cary Grant reply. I remember an old firefighter in Eng Co 23 on W58 St in Manhattan telling stories about Celebs staying in the various Hotels that Eng 23 serves first due.

This fireman moonlighted at The Warwick Hotel as a hotel undercover guard when off duty.
Amongst the famous sorts that stayed there, Cary Grant lived there for 12 years when in New York.
A few blocks away from Central Park So. where The Ritz Carlton, The famed Plaza Hotel and a few others would be the place to be seen for celebs and paparazzi, The Warwick was quiet and unassuming, but had a few photogs stationed out front.

On weekends, my friend would be in charge of getting Cary Grant's male partners in and out of the hotel via the rear fire escape which needed a key to egress.
(His first duty as a security guard there was to open the fire escape egress on the street during an emergency).

Cary's partners were well known male (street solicitors) that he liked.
Maybe it was a late night poker game-
Things were pretty hush- hush here for a long time. His marriage to Dyan raised a few eyebrows I'm sure. But not so surprising in the business I guess.

The Warwick Hotel Web page:

Warwick New York Hotel epitomizes European-style elegance setting the upscale standard in luxury New York City hotels and is convenient for both business and vacation travelers to see New York City at its greatest. Our midtown Manhattan hotel stands across the street from New York's newly revitalized Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and is within four blocks of New York City's Broadway, Central Park, Carnegie Hall, Fifth Avenue and the Rockefeller Center. The Warwick New York is an upscale hotel in New York City delivering sophisticated comfort in a smoke-free environment. Murals on 54, is a memorable choice among Midtown Manhattan Restaurants in New York City for dining enjoyment. Murals on 54 Restaurant at the Warwick New York Hotel features an innovative approach to modern Mediterranean cuisine. The hotel’s Randolph's Bar & Lounge was designed to closely resemble a living room rather than a hotel bar, with inviting sofas and armchairs, is an excellent venue to see and be seen in Manhattan.

A legendary choice among luxury New York City hotels throughout the years, the Warwick New York has retained its revered name as one of the best New York City hotels and has always appealed to celebrities. The New York City choice of hotel for The Beatles, Cary Grant's Manhattan home for 12 years and even 'The King', Elvis Presley, made Warwick New York his home when he visited New York. Think about this . . .

Your talking to the wrong guy. Frank probably could have written it better himself?
I was talking to my friend John Bardelli tonight. John's an attorney, former English teacher, writer, son of Hall of Famer "Young Firpo".
We were discussing something related to writing and out of nowhere he says, "You know that Frank is a helluva writer!"
I tell him I know. John doesn't contribute directly to this thread, but he follows it everyday. John's stories post here occasionally, but I usually post them.
If you want to take that gang book to a deeper level, go to Frank's site "West Coast Boxers of Year's Gone By".
More can be found on Randy's site, "Thoughts on Boxing, Boxers and Fights".
In a way, I feel as if I was standing right next to Frank in some of those stories. That's how good he tells it!.
Others write facts, figures, quote multiple sources, news articles, etc. Frank just lived it, and you can tell that by how he writes it.
I tell you what I will do. I promise that if you can finish a Manuel's Special, I'll read it cover-to-cover. :TU:
Frank would get no more out of that than I got from reading the Jerry Quarry bio.
