I would of loved to of seen the odds on DeGale being the first Olympian to lose his '0'

degayle was a huge let down.

Think this fight showed the gulf between the fighters mentally. Groves was clearly fighting at a (slight) speed disadvantage, less of a chin, less ability to put combinations together, and still won. Why? Because first DeGale took 4 rounds to figure out that Groves was not going to fight like he did when they met as amateurs (nearly costing himself a point for his frustration in fouling Groves with the shoulder and elbow) and wouldn't stop waiting too long to counter Groves...and then after the clash of heads he was distracted, dabbing away at his eye, failing to impose himself for any period of time, while Groves is marching on through a mask of blood nicking the round or two he needed to pull it off. Talented as DeGale is, he has an awful lot to work on mentally.

The fight picked up after a good 5 rounds, but james did land some dirty tactics with the elbow.

It's true in fairness Groves raided his tools whereas Degale hardly opened his tool box.

Totally agree with you there mate! Was a little annoyed when Jim Watt said De Gale must be hurting groves because he pulls away from the exchanges.
Jim Have you never heard of working a game plan?

these guys need to stay at domestic level for a bit.
I hope james gets some transatlantic sparring/guru sessions..he could have broken groves down and maybe ended him with his pressure and solid power.

To be honest, i thought it was going to be a draw- warren card, close fight , etc!
Some things do happen on the other end and congrats to groves, adam and hayemaker.

Hayemaker seem to be not fearful of fighting backfoot styled "away" from home - risky tactics, paid off twice on the cards though.

did they really train for a sluggish type fighter?

I enjoyed the fight regardless.
I wish the best for both of them..Adam's interview was on point, they both need more practise and learning.

The thing that impressed me about Groves was when he got hit and looked slightly hurt, he didn't get excited or lose control he kept calm and stuck to the gameplan throughout!!
