for which their percentage should have been sufficient reward, without the laundry list of self-indulgent nest-lining that clearly went on.

fiddles like that aren't a well-earned reward for a good job, they're fiddles.
How much you reckon Frampton was getting paid before he left the Mcguigans?
entirely irrelevant.

as Frampton's promoter and manager he was entitled to whatever % of Frampton's purses he negotiated.

he was not entitled- under any circumstances- to treat Frampton as the McGuigan family tit, which is basically to an extent what he did (as well as his %)

but thanks for confirming your non-sequitur equivocations don't just come out over politics
You sound angry, and a little strange.

I am just giving my opinion - I don't have a desire to have an angry exchange with strange people I don't know on the Internet.

That article claimed he got 7% of it.
I haven't read the article - is it saying that if Frampton was expecting a purse of £1m then he actually received £70k ?

of course I forgot that in your world 'giving your opinion' means asking a question which is broadly insinuating but only meaningfully so in your own mind. good work, do keep it up

They where robbing him under the pretence of expenses - Pretty low way to treat your fighter. Unless you want to give it a pass because Shane is supposedly a good trainer.

Could you copy and paste the key bits in the article please? It’s saying I have to pay to read.

It’s bad enough when fighters are taken advantage of by your typical shady, would sell his granny for a fiver type promoter but when it’s done by a guy like Barry who is as aware as anyone of the sacrifices fighters make then it’s particularly egregious.

I get the impression Shane wasn’t particularly involved with the scamming of Frampton. It seems to be his dad and brothers.

Unfortunately sometimes it’s hard for people to see the bad in others - particularly family.

We saw the same with the Hattons as Ray was clearly ripping off Ricky yet Carol couldn’t see through the bullshit.

Shane has a gym in London and living there too, that's a lot of money, he has clearly benefitted from the financial arrangements.

There is no weekly wage in boxing

He should have got his agreed % as a trainer and no more.

Shane has been involved with lots of top boxers who would have earned big money so I wouldn’t begrudge him living in London.

Dunno, but if so it's all expensive in that neck of the woods.

Tesco Joe is still borrowing backrooms to train in.

Not many trainers make any money.

For me Tesco has had more championship fighters than McGuigan, but then he never had a deal like the McGuigans had with Frampton

Joe’s had plenty of fighters in big fights so he should have made a good living and be set for life.

He’s also trained, managed and promoted fighters but I doubt he ripped them off unlike Barry McGuigan and his family.

I think it shows to me partly why they have the Muhammed Ali act in the US whereby fighters can’t be managed and promoted by the same person. A manager should be earning his money through getting the best deals possible and maximising the income of his fighter. It’s impossible to do that impartially when you’re also the promoter and, in Frampton’s, the same family as the trainer.

We’ve seen it can be difficult in the past when FWarren folded his company to avoid paying Ricky Burns who he co-managed and promoted. It’s a real conflict of interest.

Wasn’t it a million dollars but only after he’d lost motivation and been stopped in a round by Bonecrusher Smith? Not sure the motivation ever really returned.
