Is there any news yet on the undercard for this show? It’s going to need to be decent now that we know there doing the Tyson - Jones fiasco as a sort of lead in, we will be lucky if Dubois-Joyce get in the ring before 11..

Jack Catterall Back, November 28 On Dubois-Joyce Card

Jack Catterall will warm-up for his world title shot later this month.

The Chorley super lightweight has been out of action for 12 months since he won a unanimous decision out in Dubai.

Catterall, 27, outpointed Timo Schwarzkopf over 10 rounds at Caesars Palace and will box again on November 28, exclusively live on BT Sport.

‘El Gato’ has been confirmed as an addition to the supporting cast of heavyweight Daniel Dubois’ British and Commonwealth title clash against Olympic silver medallist Joe Joyce.

The fight, which will also have the vacant European bauble at stake, will take place at the BT Sport Studios in Stratford, London.

And Catterall (25-0, 13 KOs) –– the talented southpaw who recently accepted step-aside money to allow WBO champion Jose Ramirez, to whom he is mandatory, to defend his WBO and WBC world titles against IBF, WBA Super and Ring Magazine champion Josh Taylor –– has been awarded a spot on the undercard as he looks to stay sharp for his big opportunity against either the American or his fellow Brit.

Taylor stopped his IBF mandatory, Apinun Khongsong, in less than a round back in September at Bethnal Green’s famous York Hall venue, as part of a joint promotion staged by allegedly’s Queensberry Promotions and Bob Arum’s Top Rank Inc., while Ramirez claimed a majority decision against former Taylor opponent Viktor Postol at The Bubble at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Boxing Scene understands that Lewis Benson, the twice-defeated Edinburgh-based 28-year-old, is among those being considered as a potential opponent for Catterall for the Dubois vs. Joyce card, while Jonathan Alonso (19-1, 7 KOs) and Belgian-based Tunisian Hedi Slimani (33-6-1, 17 KOs) have also had their names mentioned.

Further additions to the Dubois vs. Joyce undercard will be revealed in due course.

JOYCE JOSTLING FOR PROMOTIONAL PRIORITY ON NOVEMBER 28th, UNDERCARD ANNOUNCED

JOE JOYCE BELIEVES he is fighting for promotional priority, as well as the British and European titles, when he takes on Daniel Dubois in a huge heavyweight collision on November 28.

Hall-of-Fame promoter Frank W has been in the corner of Dubois since setting him on the road to professional stardom in April of 2017 at the age of 19. The Peacock Gym product has more than lived up to his Dynamite billing and is, by common consensus, the best young heavyweight in the business.

‘Juggernaut’ Joyce, who joined the Queensberry ranks in May 2019 when he was first mandated to fight Dubois for the British title, wants a piece of the action and intends to ambush the ambitious plans laid out for his in-house rival.

“Right now, Daniel is a top boy for Queensberry and BT Sport so if I beat him, or when I beat him, I will be one to watch,” considered the 35-year-old Olympic silver medallist.

“According to Frank, the winner could potentially get a world title shot and that is definitely what I am in boxing for, so I am looking forward to beating Dubois and being No.1.”

Dubois enjoys a lofty No.2 ranking with the WBO behind only Oleksandr Usyk, who occupies top spot and mandatory position by virtue of moving up from cruiserweight as an undefeated champion.

Usyk is entitled to enforce a fight with the WBO heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, but the Englishman first must negotiate an IBF obligation against Kubrat Pulev in December. If he then intends to enter into a two-fight booking with Tyson Fury, the WBO belt could well become up for grabs.

Enter Dubois or Joyce against Usyk.

“I know, imagine that, it would be unbelievable,” stated Joyce in eager anticipation. “I don’t want to get too far ahead of myself though because I’ve still got Dubois in my face to take on.”

Joyce, of course, suffered a defeat to Usyk in the World Boxing Series as a GB amateur and taking revenge as a pro, with a world title at stake, would be ideal retribution.

“I definitely wouldn’t be afraid of his power, more his skill really because he’s got good head movement. When I fought him it was quite an even fight, although he did catch me clean a few times, I had less defence and I was still a bit novicey back then.

“He was fresh off winning gold at London so he is a good fighter and I think the later rounds, especially with pro gloves on, would be the deciding factor if we got in the ring again.

“He wouldn’t be able to hurt me, which would be very dangerous for him.”

——————————————–

Dubois vs Joyce headlines a great night of boxing action, live on BT Sport 1 HD on November 28th.

On the undercard, highly touted Ilford youngster Hamzah Sheeraz (11-0-0, 7KO’s) will defend his WBO European Super-Welterweight title against canny Spaniard Guido Nicolas Pitto (26-7-2, 8KO’s). Sheeraz was last seen on 10th July 2020 when he impressively cut through 12-1 Scotsman Paul Kean in 6 comfortable rounds.

Jack Catterall (25-0-0, 13KO’s) will take on the French-based Tunisian Abderrazak Houya (14-2-0, 2KO’s) in a 10 round Super-Lightweight contest.

Catterall is the #1 ranked contender for Jose Ramirez’s WBO title and intends to challenge the winner of the potential unification fight between Ramirez and WBA/IBF Champion Josh Taylor, but only if he can overcome the challenge of Houya. The Tunisian-born fighter boasts a respectable professional record and represented his country at the London 2012 Olympics.

London Heavyweight David Adeleye (3-0-0, 3KO’s) returns to behind-closed-doors action for the third time when he battles Silsden’s Danny Whittaker (4-1-0). Whitaker is coming off a points win over Chris Healey and has previously beaten Jonathan Palata.

Jack Massey (16-1-0, 8KO’s) returns to action in an 8 round Cruiserweight contest against a fearsome puncher from the UAE, Mohammad Ali Bayat Farid (16-1-1, 16 KO’s).

Joshua Frankham (1-0-0) will return to Super-Welterweight action, Louie Lynn (7-0-0, 6KO’s) will look to follow up his 2nd round TKO from the 25th July and Henry Wharton backed Heavyweight Mitchell Barton will make his long awaited pro-debut.

Intriguing match up. I was worried by how easily an old Stiverne teed-off on Joyce before he got going. If Dubois does the same, with his speed and power, one would think that would do irrecoverable damage. Nevertheless, an intriguing match up, both ambitious guys, somewhat untested at the top level.

Dubois Expects To Stop Joe Joyce, Doesn't Care If It's Early or Late

Most experts believe the contest will end inside the distance, with someone getting knocked out - which is exactly what Dubois expects to happen.

“I think I can get him early or late. It doesn't matter,” Dubois told Daily Star Sport.

“Fast or slow, it doesn't matter. It's gonna be a win for me whatever way I have to do it. Win by any means necessary and come through it if it's early or late.

"Joe's Joe. He boxes differently that’s all I’m gonna say. He's got his own way of doing things and that's who I'm gonna be fighting. I've just got to be ready to fight him and take away everything that he brings.”

Dubois is currently ranked in the number two position under the WBO. Oleksandr Usyk sits at number one and is currently the mandatory challenger to that belt.

Should Anthony Joshua vacate the WBO title in order to secure a unification with Tyson Fury, then Dubois has no problem with facing Usyk or anyone else for the vacant title.

“[I'm] definitely [ready for the likes of Usyk]. All the amateur skills and movement, it's the basics of boxing. You need to be athletic as a heavyweight and I've got that. I've got the tools to go far in this division," Dubois said.

“I’m really looking forward to fighting Joe, beating him and then whoever's next I've got to crush. So bring them on.”

Daniel Dubois vs Joe Joyce predictions

Tom Little
English heavyweight title contender

“I think Joe is going to beat him and I hope he does.

I have tossed back and forward over this fight. I’ve wrestled with it physically.

When I say I want Joe to win, it’s not because I don’t like Daniel. I like Daniel, he is a nice boy and I have no hard feelings towards him.

I just think it is a fight too early for him against someone who has big amateur pedigree and fought big names as a professional.

The first minute of that fight is going to be so important in the fact that Joe needs to take his jab away. I can tell you first hand, Daniel Dubois has got a jab like a straight right hand. It hurts a lot, believe me.

Joe knows this. I have spoken with him about it. I genuinely think that Joe is capable of taking that jab away. If he can do that, Daniel doesn’t carry that concussive hurtful power. He is so, so strong but doesn’t carry that power up close in short mid-range.

Joe will be horrible for him to fight, a bit like Dereck Chisora would be for Daniel. Joe doesn’t let you fight at your pace. It’s impossible to fight at your pace.

Hurting him is going to be a problem for Daniel, but none of us are machines or robots.

It is genuinely a fight where you look and you can make such a strong case for both.”

Davey Oliver Joyce
Two-time WBO European champion

"I think Joe Joyce wins this fight. He has improved so much as a pro since he went professional. Dubois is good, but I think Joyce throws really good combos and that could play a big part in the fight.

Joyce wins this fight on points."

Mark Neilson
Professional Boxing Promoter

"Both are of similar ability and both have KO power. Joyce has faced much better quality opposition so far and has better amateur experience. Not sure that will be a factor in this fight. With their styles and how they both come forward, it’s probably down to who lands clean first."

Ryan Walsh
British featherweight champion

"This is a cracking heavyweight fight and respect to all for making this happen now! Nice for us fans to get a fight we want when we want it!

Should be a great clash of styles which will answer questions on both guys behalf.

I’m going Daniel Dubois, he has the greater fundamentals. Joe will certainly be Daniel's biggest test and stretch the younger champion, although I see a late Dubois KO 9-11.

Joyce only seems to have one gear and one way and that will suit Daniel who eventually will land something which due to Joyce’s style will make it far worse.

Joe doesn’t retreat much so this has all the hallmarks of an absolute classic all-British heavyweight fight with two rising stars. Great for boxing and great to see!"

Frazer Clarke
2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist

“I see a Joe Joyce win after five rounds. It’s the most exciting fight of recent times in British boxing. Joyce is the winner for me in a difficult fight.

Daniel will be very dangerous early on and can Joe can weather the storm? That might sound like I am sitting on the fence but going by the experience of the two fighters, I think Joe might have more if he survives the early onslaught.

It’s a Joe Joyce win for me, but it is a difficult fight because Daniel is an absolute talent and a half.”

Kieran Gething
Welsh Area super-lightweight champion

"I really think 'DDD' will hit the big time, so I’m going with him, he’ll carry enough stopping power for Joyce, whom I believe won’t reach the world titles that he maybe could have if he’d gone pro earlier!"

Ekow Essuman
English welterweight champion

"This ones a treat for boxing fans, two game fighters meeting quite faster than you'd think in their careers, both having been on the GB squad.

Joyce has a wealth of experience and Dubois has been learning from match to match and has immense power. This one doesn't go to the cards for me. Stoppage by Dubois in the early rounds or stoppage from Joyce in the later rounds... take your pick."

Matt Stanton
Assistant Coach, West Thurrock Boxing

"I found it very interesting that Dubois thought that Joyce’s only advantage over him was experience- in my opinion, if Joyce can negate, or just handle, Dubois’ power, the experience will be what counts.

I think Dubois’ experienced team wouldn’t have taken this fight without good reason, something suggests to me that the decision from the Joyce side may have been a little more gung-ho.

My prediction though is for Joyce to nick a tight win over the distance."

Ben Day
Southern Area champion

"I’m going for Dubois,I think he’s a great talent and technically much better. In my opinion, Joyce is a little one-pace and sluggish and gets hit a little too much."

Steve Wood
Promoter, VIP Promotions

"Interesting fight, I think Dubois takes a commanding start due to Joyce being slow and could win by stoppage early, but if goes past six, then I can see the pendulum swinging the other way."

Jordan Neild
BBN Writer

"Firstly, what a fight. Fair play to everyone involved for getting this over the line. I rate Dubois as much as everybody else, he is one of the best talents coming out of our country but I think there’s a little bit of disrespect for Joe Joyce here. Dubois is a massive favourite and that’s now how I see it. Joyce is incredibly experienced as an amateur, holds some good wins and his win over Jennings is better than anything on Dubois record, in my opinion.

He’s not always great on the eye but Joyce is so effective and has a great engine. I don’t see this as a case of who lands first wins, I fancy it to go deep into the fight. I’m going for a Joyce very late or on a points decision."

Jazza Dickens
IBF European featherweight champion

"Just can’t call it! Both men carry so much power, it’s a coin toss for me!"

Joel McIntyre
English light-heavyweight champion

"This is a big one! Two massive punchers and if you'd asked me six months ago I'd say Joe Joyce, hands down, but now I'm not so sure as Dubois has looked impressive recently.

I think Joyce still pips him because he's very athletic and slightly more experienced, I think; 100% someones getting KO'd though!

Joyce in six, I think."

Dee 'The Hat' Taggart
Professional Boxing Coach

"It’s a great fight and what boxing should be about, I fancy Daniel Dubois by stoppage."

Mick Kane
Boxing Writer

"Looking forward to this one!

Dubois has shown he is an explosive puncher, an exciting long term British hope on the world scene. Joyce has a relentless engine, he just keeps going and although older appears to be still improving. This could be Dubois hardest fight, I think Joyce can take a punch so could we see this go deep into the fight, will Dubois be able to last the pace or will Joyce withstand the power, intriguing!

At this point I'm swinging slightly in favour of Dubois, 5th round knock out."

Jamie Speight
Three-time Southern Area champion

"A great fight mate, stylistically it’s fireworks but I think the experience, toughness and level that Joe Joyce has operated at as an amateur will see him through the first few but the raw power of Dubois will break him down and stop him over the distance."

Anish Parekh
BBN Writer

"After Dubois' demolition of Nathan Gorman, I immediately wrote that this would be a great step for 'DDD'.

Precocious talent vs established veteran. Is Dubois overrated and Joyce underrated? I don't know but I can't wait to find out.

Dubois clearly has a lot of tools and has been using them to great effect but against a lower calibre of opposition to who Joyce has so far defeated.

Joyce has so often been derided for being slow, limited and cumbersome but his skills and attributes are unfairly overlooked. His utilises his size well and overwhelms opponents with constant, unrelenting pressure to grind them down.

The Juggernaught' holds good victories against Bermane Stiverne, Alexander Ustinov and Bryant Jennings in his last three bouts. Two of them by stoppage. Don't forget his extensive amateur career that culminated in him winning an Olympic silver medal. Not bad for a so-called basic plodder.

Dubois however, just looks special. His intelligence, fluid combinations, power and ability - especially box off the back foot - will be crucial as he demonstrates more wrinkles to his game in the fight.

I envision Dubois avoiding to stand and trade with the bigger Joyce and instead boxing off the backfoot and selecting moments to fire off combinations to deter the iron-chinned Joyce before wheeling away. It won't come easy and Joyce will have his moments to use his superior size and strength and test Dubois' will - taking him deep into the trenches and making him work hard for the victory.

But it will be an impressive victory nonetheless, as Dubois will put the heavyweight on notice and continue his march towards achieving his world title dream."

Ryan Clark
Co-Founder of buymyfight.com

"I think the speed and hunger from Dubois will see him through to the win, by stoppage/KO, in what is at last a fight that fans want to see. It’ll be a good fight I’m sure."

Dan Smith
BBN Writer

"If Dubois puts it on Joyce from the off, then the young heavy should stop the Juggernaut in his tracks within the first six or seven rounds!

It'll be a crackin' fight, however, my money's on DDD."

Joe Neale
Boxing Matchmaker

"Could be fight of the year contender, can’t see it going to the distance at all.

I still think Joyce, at this stage, is a level above Dubois and think he will weather the early storm to stop Dubois in the late rounds."

Raza Hamza
Unbeaten featherweight

"I think this will be a very tricky fight. But I think Dubois will win it through a knockout or Joyce being pulled out. Dubois is very accurate and hits very hard and I can't see Joyce walking through the right hands. But until the knockout, I can see it being a 50/50 very tactical match up.

Dubois will win between rounds 7-10."

What an intriguing fight, a throwback type heavy clash and it opens a great run of fights in Dec.
While the experts seem divided, the bookies are confident DDD is going to win this. I think he will too, but it all depends if big joe can take the DD punch, if they just bounce off the Putney pulveriser, then DD could be in trouble.

Dubois-Joyce, Yarde-Arthur Cards Head To Church House in London

Hall-Of-Fame Promoter allegedly will celebrate forty years in professional boxing by bringing the two biggest domestic battles of the year right into the heart of Central London.

Dubois vs Joyce (28th Nov) and Yarde vs Arthur (5th Dec) will take place at the majestic Church House, in view of the world famous Westminster Abbey.

Church House was founded in 1887 and was built to commemorate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The current building was designed by the renowned architect Sir Herbert Baker and the foundation stone was laid by Her Majesty, Queen Mary on 26 June 1937. It took until 1940 to complete and was officially opened by His Majesty, King George VI on 10th June 1940.

The building suffered a direct hit in the early part of WWII but due to its exceptional construction only minimal damage was done. The Prime Minister of the day, Winston Churchill, was so impressed by this that the building was refurbished for use by the two Houses of Parliament for the remainder of the war.

Many historic speeches and events took place within the building during this time, in particular the announcement by Churchill from the stage of the Hoare Memorial Hall of the sinking of the battleship Bismarck.

In 1945, the first meetings of the United Nations Preparatory Commission and Security Council were held in the Hoare Memorial Hall.

Frank W said: “I’m delighted to be able to confirm such a spectacular venue to host two weeks of fantastic big time boxing. It’ll be a more than fitting way to celebrate my forty years in professional boxing.

“Both these bouts are going to be battles for the history books, so it makes sense they’d take place in a venue so rich in history.

“Winston Churchill announced the sinking of the Bismarck inside this venue, and soon we’ll know who out of Dubois, Joyce, Yarde and Arthur will sink or swim.”

Really good main event and really poor undercard. Understandable though I guess given the bulk of the money is in the main event.

I keep changing my mind on who is going to win this fight.

I think Joyce will be able to take Dubois power shots, but, will Joyce have the necessary work rate to outpoint Dubois?

I would think Joyce's workrate is one of the two key areas that let's him beat DDD, the other is his ability to take the bombs coming his way.

Joyce can hold a decent shot so he’s not just gonna go with one shot, but DDD can cause really damage if he can land regularly with those heavy body shots and right hands .

Joyce’s engine is supernatural for someone his size and he is so big and unorthodox.

Will be interesting to see how DDD will feel being the smaller but faster guy in there and who established Jab dominance.

Both good guys .. shame one of them will lose ( unless it’s a draw :OhYes: )
