If it goes down it'll be a disgrace. Now if Fury hired the man as a sparring partner, in prep for Usyk, it'd be a different story. The only way it could be spun is this:

"I just knocked out a cruiserweight champion. Same size as Usyk. Which shows Usyk doesn't stand a chance. So why is anyone backing Usyk? I'd destroy that gappy toothed little midget."

Unless Fury is unsure of his capabilities with a smaller, faster man, so he'll put his toes in the waters to see if he can handle the speed differential. If he can, and most likely will, he'll focus on Usyk full steam ahead.

The main problem with Fury is the sheer incompetence of the WBC. Fury is being given carte blanch without having to defend the title against Ruiz or some other high ranked heavyweight. Which is strange to me because they were adamant of Fury defending against Whyte, but are hesitant to do so now.

If Fury is "franchise champion," then I guess he can do whatever he wants but it's a horrible look on not just the WBC but the whole of the heavyweight division. When the consensus "man" of the division is balking at fighting heavyweights and instead is in talks to fight a cruiserweight where he'll be 60-70 pounds heavier and nearly a foot taller (when fighting off his toes) it's a horrible thing to witness.

Do I still see Fury still as the #1 heavyweight? Yes. But this is not the words and deeds of a champion. He should have let Ruiz have the $13-20 million and then he could've fought this cruiserweight kid, or could've fought Michael Hunter, in prep for Usyk.

There is a lot of smoke but no fire at the moment regarding Fury's next opponent. One minute it is Usyk. Next minute it is McKean. Now it is Opelua. I'm getting dizzy trying to keep up.

Different day, different answer from Tyson Fury but Australia is perhaps still a possibility?

Apparently Fury flew to Brisbane on Thursday to check out Suncorp Stadium and has already been to check out the MCG as a possible venue.

Fury said a fight with Demsey McKean is "very realistic" but talked down the prospect of fighting cruiserweight Jai Opetaia because of their size difference.

I don’t hate this. Jai coming off a broken jaw isn’t ideal. But he is the closest thing to usyk…. (Levels and levels below).

Good cruisers are better than decent heavy’s.


(I hate it compared to usyk or AJ… but this is better than Ortiz or dempsy, and I think stylistically better than Ruiz)

You can’t compare them because Opetatia isn’t as proven as Usyk and obviously AJ is nowhere near Tysons level.

He is so well known for lying everytime he moves his lips that even his claimed 6`9" height is being called out and ridiculed.
