Big supplement in the Sun this morning for the fight, not seen that for a while. Good to see a bit of hype for the show, said ringwalk for the main event is 11pm so a long night in store

I was really hoping for Moses to get some rounds, looking at Franklin's shape I can see him quitting on his stool

Someone commented on X "which sick bastard scheduled a FW show on the night the clocks go forward?".

Bit late to the party for this but Ruthless always has all of the latest news and showbiz gossip for me here on Boxrec. He's a great poster. He's under appreciated if anything.

He weighed and looked the same for Whyte and went the 12.

Obviously Itauma is a different proposition form that version of Whyte.

Hopefully the ref is't too trigger happy. Franklin likes to ride shots quite often, which could lead to a British stoppage.

I don't know if you watched his last fight but he didn't look interested at all, and seemed surprised to get the decision. He must have something though, as Dychko seemed terrified of him and hugged him anytime he got close. I didn't think Franklin won. It was a terrible fight.

I heard Franklin's Dad died or something before that fight? Maybe he'll be a bit more motivated for this one, with it being a big event and everything? But I reckon the same as you: chucks it on his stool.

Teddy Atlas: Franklin will make future champ Itauma go a few rounds

Teddy Atlas knows what a heavyweight phenom looks like.

Atlas worked with Mike Tyson as an amateur before Tyson eventually became the youngest heavyweight champion of all time at the age of 20 in 1986.

The most promising up-and-coming heavyweight today is Moses Itauma (13-0, 11 KOs), a 21-year-old southpaw who returns Saturday to take on Jermaine Franklin (24-2, 15 KOs) at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, England.

“With Itauma, it can always be a knockout. Punchers are born, they’re not made,” Atlas told DAZN. “He’s that guy. He can take anyone out in one or two rounds. He’s that talented and that much of a package. Technically solid. He can fight inside or outside, he can use his legs. This guy is talented, and he will be heavyweight champion."

Itauma has just 26 rounds under his belt in three years as a pro, and Franklin is expected to give him a tough test. The losses Franklin has endured came in back-to-back fights against Dillian Whyte in 2022 and Anthony Joshua in 2023, both of which were decided by decision.

Itauma starched Whyte in one round in August, while Franklin outlasted Ivan Dychko in an ugly 10-round decision in September.

Atlas expects Itauma to have the longest fight of his fast-ascending career.
Itauma-Franklin is scheduled for 10 rounds. Outside of a pair of six-round decision wins, Itauma has iced everyone else he has faced inside two rounds.
“I've gone with the over [6.5 rounds]. With Itauma, it’s probably easier to go with the under [6.5 rounds] but I've looked at the tape. I think that Franklin can be the first guy to take him – I’m not gonna say deep waters – but at least extend him a little and make him go some rounds.
“I think that Franklin has enough experience at the higher level, and enough ability and technique to get to at least the late rounds,” Atlas went on.
Itauma is ranked No. 7 by The Ring and was also named The Ring’s 2024 Prospect of the Year.
DraftKings lists Itauma as a -3000 betting favorite and Franklin as a +1200 betting underdog.

That was class by John Joe Carrigan. Great matching for a second fight and boxed brilliantly. Real talent.

Interesting prospect this John Joe Carrigan. Still a little sloppy, but that's to be expected in your 2nd fight. He's still got some cockiness that'll get knocked out of him at some point, but probably not by a lower level opponent. I look forward to seeing more of this kid.

He did everything as a youth. His shot selection is pretty special.

and he clearly lies about his height. 6'2 Moses looks to have a few inches on 6'2 or 6'3 Franklin at the weigh-in. Unless Moses was wearing uber lifts.

Moses is listed as 6’ 4” and looked taller than Whyte when they faced off, so I think he’s taller than 6’ 2”.

The heights always confuse me you see someone listed as loads taller than the other fella then they look similar sizes.

Whyte is def not 6'4 either.

I remember when Itauma was listed at 6'6 for a while too. Queensberry have Moses as 6'2 and I keep hearing how he's not a big heavyweight, yet if he's 6'4 and 240/250lbs that's pretty big even at heavyweight

seeing them next to Eddie Hearn is normally a good way to check. he's a solid 6'4.
