Tinnie wrote: 13 Apr 2019, 17:35 I was thinking almost the complete opposite. Seen plenty of predictions for Adesayna and he is a heavy betting favourite.

I'm a bit more on the fence. My head says Israel, but my gut feeling is Kelvin will take it.
I've seen quite a few pick gastelum

I wouldlnt be surprised to see adesanya win,I've rated him from the first time I seen him, great fighter, but if I'm pushed for an answer I'll say gastelum by KO

There is a lot of hype around Israel from the outlets I've been seeing.

Rountree looked like the Terminator out there. That fight should have been stopped, think he quite deliberately backed off the last round to spare Anders too much damage.

The co-main was one of the best fights I've seen in a while. Props to Kelvin and Israel.

The main was just as good! Oddly, I streamed this because it pissed me off they gave such a good deal to new subscribers. Lightweight is insane.

I'm happy for Dustin. He's really grown on me over the past couple years. Great fights tonight.

Whitaker/Israel should be incredible! That region will be going nuts.

Great fights last night. If Whitaker hurts Adesanya he won't let him off the hook the way Gastelum did.

Kelvin isn't the type that lets his opponents off the hook. It was more of what Israel did. Whitaker is going to have a very tough time. I'm picking Israel in this one.

Yeah Israel won me over fully here & id back him v Whitaker -phenomenal striker

Before last night I said Israel wasn't proven compared to gastelum, which despite his unreal skill & ability I think was a fair comment

He proved himself to the masses last night

Always good when a brilliant fighter proves people who call him a hype job wrong

But he did let him off the hook. He took his foot off the pedal when he rocked Israel. Instead of going after him he shot for a take down and all the momentum he had dissipated at that moment.

Kinda strange for Kelvin to let him off the hook like that. Uncharacteristic of him. Why do you suppose he let him off?

I don't know. Has anyone asked him why he went for a takedown instead of unloading punches?

Rowntree looked immense and really enjoyed the Co-main and the main event.

I'm still not convinced that Israel is the second coming of Silva like some seem to think, but he's clearly not a hype job, which i personally was a little unsure of initially.

Regarding Holloway-Poirier; I have to admit, I thought Max was going to do a number of Dustin in the rematch. Max just didn't look the same to me at 155. Was getting hurt by every significant shot (although showed a ton of heart) and it just looked like he had no power at all, at the weight.

I know he's always been a volume puncher, but he's always had decent enough pop to get people's respect at 145. There wasn't many moments against Dustin, where Dustin looked particularly wobbled or hurt. Except from one sustained assault that Max had.

In his mind, there was a reason for that. The fight was for the interim title. I doubt Kelvin would do anything to let Israel off the hook if there wasn't good reason. Whitaker could find himself in a similar predicament. I personally don't think Kelvin let him off the hook. He is too experienced against finishing top level guys to adhere to that type of practice.

Honestly I would love to see him against Israel but obviously Israel is fighting Robbie. Not sure who he should take on otherwise though, maybe Kelvin but Kelvin didn't deserve a shot at the interim title anyway.

I just looked at the ratings, Gastelum seems like the only option as he's beaten all the guys around the top other than Whitakker, Israel and Kelvin. So Kelvin is the only one who makes sense IMO.

A Jacare rematch would be another possibility as their first fight was very close.
