Saunders, Jacobs and Canelo are really the only guys at Middleweight left for him...Eubank Jr. too would spark people's interest, but there's really not many other noteworthy Middleweights out there for him to fight.
It's always difficult to make big fights at world level.

I don't think that Golovkin is that much more avoided than most other world class fighters.

They all try to avoid each other unless they run out of easier options.

I don't think that Golovkin tries that hard to get the best opposition himself.
Do you think Canelo avoided him?
All about money, tv channels and every other complication you get in boxing, though I wouldn't blame him
He would smash him

They've got to be very happy with that eye injury.

It makes the loss and stoppage seem a lot better than they would have.

I agree. Brook was finding the accumulative effect of Golovkins punches too much to handle at the end of round three but in his corner and at the start of the next round he looked perfectly normal then after GGG landed a few he suddenly started looking uncomfortable again. It's boxers pride I understand that but the eye injury isn't why Brook lost that's a convenient excuse.

I always thought when Canelo was proving he had the beating of all Welterweights at Caneloweight that Kell is the only one in the world i would give a realistic shot of winning.

You're testing yourself by competing in the sport at all. If GGG feels he's at his best fighting weight at 160 there's no need for him to gain weight and not be at his best just to make a few people happy that'll find something new to criticize him for as soon as he does it.
When you're completely dominant at a weight, not moving up looks like a lack of ambition. How would we view Duran now if he never went to welter? At welter and above he was vulnerable compared to the unbeatable Lightweight Duran, but the win over Leonard, the hell he gave Hagler, and the win over Barkley made his stature so much greater. Duran could have stayed at lightweight, but he ended up as one of the "Four Kings" despite losing 4 out of 5 against the rest. On the other hand, Hagler was made by smaller men moving up to face him.

It is a far worse risk vs reward fight for Alvarez.

It's not the same situation.

I think it was a magnificent performance by GGG. Boxing forums and social media was awash with him being "weight drained", "having the flu" and "sickness and diarrhoea" just 24 hours ago. A big challenge having to face the firm home town favourite Kell Brook who himself admitted "I'm ready for this fight. I'm at my natural weight."

Full credit to GGG for absorbing Kell's best shots, whilst probably still feeling under the weather, and for not sharting his pants

It's actually a knock on Hagler now, often, and when he was active there really wasn't a 168 to go to. 175 is a lot further, and yet he gets stick for the fact that his best victories post title win are against light middles, welters and a squeaker over a lightweight. If Golovkin never moves up, it will look like a lack of confidence.

He tests himself every time he gets in the ring. Hagler didn't just fight legends. Minter, Fully Obel, Sibson, Skypion, Caveman Lee. Not exactly a killers row.

It doesn't look that way to me. It looks like a fighter fighting at the weight he feels comfortable at. Duran's an absolute legend, and I think that would've been the case whether he moved up in weight or not frankly. Wins over Leonard and Iran Barkley when he was past his best weight and age don't hurt him though.

Without the eye socket going that might have been more interesting. Still think GGG would have got hin out of there in the first half regardless. Brook boxed well but his shots simply did not trouble him. GGG said at the end straight away saying "he`s not a middleweight" meaning his power did not trouble him. Well did not have the power to keep him off, although that eye damage clearly hampered him.

Full props to Brook, he has some balls on him and he took some serious punches and never went down. He`s a tough fella. Would like to see him recover from that injury have a fight at light middle then go for Khan or the winner of Canelo v Smith.

Golovkin`s next big challenge is who? Ward`s tied up and two weights up and Canelo does`t want it. Unless Danny Jacobs steps up I could well see him fighting in the UK again against BJS or Chris Eubank Jr.

I`d love to see him fight DeGale. Chunky has the skills and the power to make GGG respect him, but does he have the chin to take the firepower. Callum Smith against GGG? That would be messy.

That's exactly my point. The knock on Hagler is that he only fought legends from lower weights, and never stepped up. It's less fair, as I said, because Hagler didn't have 168 to go to, but after he beat the Philly fighters, his good opponents were all smaller guys. This is why I think GGG needs to move up sooner or later, rather than just welcome smaller guys.

Where are these people that knock on Hagler? I don't see many of them. Hagler usually gets nothing but the full respect of fight fans.
