OF what I have seen available on film of the great Ted "Kid" Lewis, it seems to me that the man was very skilled. HE was strong and had that jab. AND he was always rough inside. HE got great movement.
HE fought guys that were bigger than he was. And to win EUROPEAN and BRITISH championships in 4 different weight classes is an achievement in itself. HE is indeed one of the greatest EUROPEAN and BRITISH fighters ever.

Re: The Top 100 Greatest Boxers Pound per Pound of All-Time
#86. Peter Jackson
Record:42-5-3 (55NDs) with 29KOs
KO pct is 69%
Career: 1882-1899
World Titles Held: None
Highlights: Hard-hitting and smooth boxer that fought the best available heavyweight competition all over the world. Shunned by the majority of the white contenders, still had a hall of fame career beating top men. Didn't get a deserving title shot for the World Heavyweight Championship because simply, he was black. Won 21 fights in a row from July 1889 to September 1890. Record in that span was 21-0, with 13KOs. In his prime, he only lost 3 times. Fought 105 professional bouts in 17 years. Was also Australian, World Colored and Commonwealth British Empire Heavyweight Champion. Fought 2 hall of famers and 2 world champions.
Historical Impact: Rated by boxing historians as the best heavyweight boxer of the 1880s and early 1890s decade. Didn't get a shot at the heavyweight crown due to champion John L. Sullivan's color line decision.
Defining Fight: WTKO19 George "Old Chocolate" Godfrey...... August 24, 1888..."Wins Coloured World Heavyweight Championship"
Other Defining Fights: NC61 James J. Corbett, WTKO30 Tom Lees (IV), WDQ2 Jem Smith, WKO10 Frank Slavin, W5 Denver Ed Smith, and WTKO3 Peter Maher.
HE seems to be a very interesting fighter. HE only lost 3 times in his prime? Jackson could've been world champion to add the other 3 crowns that he had. GREAT fighter. ANY thoughts on him?

THE Heavyweight Champion of the World, John L. Sullivan from Boston, MA outright refused publicly that he wouldn't give Peter Jackson a title shot.
BUT, James J. Corbett, the Gentleman of Boxing that dethroned Sullivan in 1892, fought Jackson 61 rounds!

Glad and nice to hear that. I have read in his IBHOF page that the American great golfer, Bobby Jones from the state of Georgia, sponsored his first fights as Jack went pro.

The only fight film footage of Beau Jack is his TKO loss to the great Ike Williams for the World Lightweight Title in 1948. Williams stopped him in 6 rounds.

Beau Jack was a shoe-shining teenager of Augusta, GA. His grandmother was the one that nicknamed him "Beau Jack"
