That was then, this is now.
Until he beats AJ, Fury doesn't sell big PPV numbers without a big name opponent. Then or now.
Probably beat AJ in the Wilder fight if you count UK and America.
None of AJ’s fights have been PPV in America so you can’t really compare the two.

Whilst the Wilder/Fury rematch did c.1m PPV buys in the US it still made a reported loss given how much they’d spent advertising it across both networks. I think that’s more of a sign of how Wilder hasn’t connected with the US audience more than anything else.

For what it’s worth my group of mates who I go to the boxing love both AJ and Fury. We went to watch Fury against Klitschko and has seen most of AJ’s big fights in the U.K. I think most of them probably prefer Fury now.

AJ will benefit from the super casuals. The last company I worked at even a lot of the women there watched the AJ/Klitschko fight and don’t have much of a clue about the sport but got into it because of Sky’s hype machine. Fury is all self promotion which I think helps him with people who actually follow boxing and go to shows so I would have thought 60/40 or so will be supporting him against AJ if it was at somewhere like Wembley. I think the viewers at home though will be more like 70/30 supporting AJ.

Wilder didn't think he needed to promote the rematch.. Didn't do shit.

It was Fury that did most the dog work. SIgned with the WWE, talk shows etc.

Fury vs. Joshua is Very Close To Being Done, Says Frank W

Frank W, co-promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, says a deal is very close for summer unification with IBF, WBA, WBO, IBO champion Anthony Joshua.

Warren calmed down the critics who became frantic after a recent interview where Fury claimed an agreement was nowhere near done.

The two sides are shooting for the first of a two-fight series to take place on a date in June.

"The fight is very close to being done now. It's all COVID-19 related but I think it will go on some time in June, latest July. It's going to be a two-fight deal, and it depends what happens in the first fight and agreement of all parties as to where and what happens after that," Warren told Nick Parkinson.

The location is unknown, but both sides agree that it's very likely to be staged outside of the UK.

Several locations are angling to secure the big event.

"There are a number of territories that want to put it on but COVID is in their areas now," Warren added.

"But I still don't think it will happen in the UK, it will go where the most money will be made. It's a big fight and they need to make the most money from it because the loser could be finished."

Joshua (24-1, 22 KOs), 31, was in the ring back in December, when he battered and stopped mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.

Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs), 32, has been away from the ring for over a year. The last time he saw action was in February of 2020. He broke down and stopped Deontay Wilder to capture the WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Outside of London, Fury is more popular. He wouldn't be if people knew he'd had a drug ban but hardly anyone does.

Fury-Joshua: Arum Says No More Issues Outstanding, Deal Close

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who co-promotes WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, indicates that there are no further issues with respect to finalizing the high-stakes unification with WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO Anthony Joshua.

The two sides have been in heavy talks to finalize the anticipated fight for a date in June, with July being the backup.

There will be two fights as part of the agreement. The second contest will take place regardless of who wins the first meeting.

"As far as I'm concerned, all the points have been agreed to. That's what each side has said. Now, we're just scrambling around to get things signed. I can say clearly, based on my view of everything, there are no more issues," Arum told IFL TV.

A few days ago, Joshua revealed that his clash with Fury was likely going to land in June.

"June should be the date. Trust me. For the fans, for the people that have been calling it on for many, many months. Shoutout to Fury and his team as well, hungry go-getters, that’s what we are. UK stand up. And to the world - we’re bringing it. I can’t wait. Undisputed," Joshua stated.

The location of the first encounter, which is going to be distributed on pay-per-view in the United States and United Kingdom, has yet to be determined. Several countries are angling to secure the rights.

Fury has been out of the ring since February 2020, when he stopped Deontay Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Joshua was able to return to the ring in December, when he knocked out mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev in nine rounds.

It was the steroid Nandrolone. Popular with bodybuilders as a muscle volumiser. Likely what The Rock supplements along with his testosterone replacement therapy. The wild boar meat story was obviously complete horse shit.

My daughter is 11 years old and from West Wales.

Her and everyone in her school love AJ. He’s like a pop star to them.
He’s really crossed over with the younger generation.

Do people not know or not care?
Farah, Wiggins, Whyte and Froome have all been implicated in dodgy practice along with Fury, all equally publicised and all by in large forgotten by the man on the street. On a cycling forum they'll be hammering Froome and Wiggins and Farah will get it on runners world. While the famous "Barry from Barnsley" just wants to see someone get ktfo by any means necessary.

It was a smart move to ring walk with Stormzy. Stormzy, as gash as most UK rap is (with a few notable exceptions), is massive with the kids and AJ was smart to tap into that audience. Stormzy headlined the Pyramid stage at the last Glastonbury, and that means he's BIG. So of course his fans all know AJ.
