Massive Benn & Eubank fan here.

In my younger days I think I went to about 6 Benn fights & 4/5 Eubank fights.

Back then, in the pubs - pre internet - most people were either Team Benn or Team Eubank. It was mainly Benn as he was blood & guts. Eubank was seen as a weirdo which suited me as I am one too.

I LOVED both fighters. I even had framed caricature drawings of them in my flat. And, of course, I went to the rematch at Old Trafford (I was off my tree in Belgium or Sweden for the first one). But I loved both fighters & their styles & their very different personalities.

Nowadays, the Eubanks bore the fornicate out of me.

It's not that I love Conor Benn, he's OK. It's just that the Eubanks are playing the victim card too much.

I live in the States where everyone wants to be a victim (I get blamed for colonialism at least once a week ) & it gets equally draining & amusing.

Have any of the other older bastards on here changed their views on either family's over the years?

Eubank Sr denies being paid to reunite with son

Chris Eubank Sr has refuted claims he was paid to attend April's fight between his son Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn, in the build-up to Saturday's rematch.

Eubank Jr and Benn will meet for a second time - just as their fathers did in the 1990s - at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The Eubanks had been estranged for several years before emerging from a car together and stunning the boxing world on the night of that first bout.

"They are lying to you [about receiving money], and if you are spouting what they told you then they are a liar," Eubank Sr said.

"I speak and I want truth, nothing but. That's a true entertainer."

There have been claims in recent weeks that Eubank Sr was paid to be by his son's side in April, which the former two-weight world champion strongly denied.

In a BBC film released this week, Eubank Jr confirmed his father would be at the rematch but he was not expected to be present at the news conference.

The pair arrived on stage to Tina Turner's 'The Best' - the song Eubank Sr used as his ringwalk.

"I'm here to support. I'm here to protect [my son]," Eubank Sr, dressed in a tweed suit, added.

"In regards to the love of a son, if a father takes money, nothing wrong with that. If a father doesn't take money, study that. I am here for heart and love."

Nigel Benn, who had also heard the rumour, refused to comment when pushed by Eubank Sr to reveal where, and instead said he just wanted to focus on his own son before joking he would "have it" with his old rival.

The two fathers did face off after the news conference before embracing.

Speaking about his father's presence, Eubank Jr said he only found out a few hours earlier that he would be there.

"There is something I need to address; Conor, Eddie and Nigel over the last few months have been making accusations and claims that my father was paid to come to the fight," Eubank Jr said.

"It was bare-faced lies. It's extremely disrespectful to my father and myself."

Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn have both made weight for their rematch this weekend.

Their non-title bout is set for middleweight and both fighters came in under the 160lbs limit.

Benn, moving from welterweight into Eubank's division, was unexpectedly heavier at 159.3lbs.

Eubank faced a battle on the scales trying to make weight for the first fight in April. But for this second contest he weighed 159.1lbs without drama.

Benn was almost three pounds heavier than he was before their first fight - a sign that he has filled into the division more.

Both men however face another weight check on the morning of the fight. A rehydration clause has been placed in their agreement which means neither can be more than 10lbs over the limit on Saturday morning.

Benn felt Eubank's extra weight was an advantaged in the first fight, but intends to turn the tables on his opponent second time around.

"I'm still quicker than him. I'm still faster than him. My reaction times are still quicker than his. My power punches are still harder than his," Benn told Sky Sports. "He's got his weight, which he used well, leaning on me, smothering me.

"Am I spiteful? Yes. Am I aggressive? Yes. My mindset was different [in April]. It was just about me hurting him, that's the way my mind was," he continued.

"The only reason that fight didn't go my way was a lack of discipline and that's why I'm kicking myself.

"It was like modern-day gladiators."

Until coming to this agreement with Benn, Eubank Jr had never fought under the stipulation of a rehydration clause before. He was hospitalised after the first fight with severe dehydration but committed himself to 170lb fight-day limit for the rematch.

He has been vociferous in his criticism of his opponent.

"It doesn't sadden me because I know what we have to do and what is expected of us," he said. "This is a blood sport so can you really be surprised when people are doing all these underhanded things.

"It comes with the territory; if you're going to be in a bloodsport, be prepared to deal with savages."

He added: "Something I've prided myself on - telling the truth, being moral, and being a stand-up guy, not lying to people, not stealing or taking advantage.

"That's something I pride myself on as a human being and as an athlete in this sport.

"Not taking drugs, not quitting in the ring, not taking days off in the gym.

"But fighters like that are rare."

Just had a look at DAZN and the PPV price is now £19.95, don't know if that's for everyone, but if I had ordered it earlier for £24.95, I would be pissed off.

I’m not that interested in the fight and it didn’t warrant a rematch, But I’ll definitely watch it plus the undercard. There’s not much boxing last few months. We’ve got that ridiculous card next weekend, which seems like he just slung all
the good fights on one night, which is pretty bizarre when it’s barren either side.

And it’s worrying too, Eubank much older these days, been around for what seems forever -going in for another torrid 12 round war, weight drained again.

A very uneasy feeling watching Hearn joke about how Chris wasn’t really hurt last time, in the ambulance, didn’t fall unconscious etc with the tragic backgrounds to both their father’s careers always looming large.

last time I remember that was Lennox Lewis Frank Bruno in Wales I think - and it was heavy rain all day and it was touch and go if it happened ( I was probably checking Ceefax all day, don’t ask ) I think it stopped just before the main event or something crazy like that .

Lloyd Honeghan v Gene Hatcher in Spain was cancelled until the next day due to heavy rain. I can't imagine what Lloyd weighed the next day but he flattened Hatcher in 40 seconds, Hatcher was a light welter

I don’t think he’s weight drained this time.

I think it shows he’s done the weight properly.

Just watched the Eubank documentary.

He's an OK bloke, seems very level headed.
Must have been hard actually making it in boxing with the old man interfering so much.
You could see it in so many of the earlier press conferences what Jnr was thinking.
Best thing he ever did for his boxing career was to bin him off, probably should have done it sooner.
I hope he wins again but he's been to the well so many times this could be the "getting old fight".
I also think the undercard doesn't look to bad either.
