A good fight is what everyone wants. I don`t think anyone will be too upset with whoever wins as long as both guys come in their best shape and give us all a good fight to watch.

What people will not be happy with is if Fury comes in his usual out of shape self and tries to steal a decision by spoiling and fouling all night; I don`t think anybody here would be in the least bit surprised if Fury tries that.

50 lbs.
We will see. They were 278 and 221 in their last fights so that's 57lbs difference
You compared Ngannou and Usyk, didn't you?
No Fury was 278 against Ngannou (well 277 3/4 ) and Ngannou was 272

It'll be more than that this time. Fury is going to be a big boy.

There is coming heavy like he hasn't dieted or trained
Coming in light from dieting but without much training.
But also he could come in heavy after bulking up, being fully trained with plans to lie all over Usyk.

With Fury just looking at his weight doesn't give you the whole story.

If you take away probably two weeks of not doing anything post-Ngannou, you’re basically talking 3 months training including tapering at the end, the Christmas period and a beach holiday! He’s an ageing 35 (and a half) year old who physically is probably far from his peak. I think people are getting very carried away that he’ll be any good at all in this fight.

My view is there are only two ways that Fury wins this. Exploiting Usyk's body or effectively using his size to spoil. He isn't going to outbox or out-move Usyk and I don't think he will have the power to trouble his chin either. I don't think Fury has shown his willingness to fight like that of late even though he could theoretically spoil even if he is fat and out of shape with slower reactions etc so it will be interesting to see how it goes.

Usyk is 37 and his boxing style is extremely high energy-intensive.

Usyk lives the life though, far more professional than Fury who balloons in weight. You just know Usyk doesn't cut corners, not the same can be said of Fury so Usyk may be older but I reckon he's in better shape.

Usyk will be in better shape by miles. Physiologically athletes in their mid to late 30’s maintain much better with consistent training. A binge eating, and a stop-start training approach usually means you deteriorate quicker and can’t make the ground back. People seem pretty blind. Fury didn’t really look like any sort of athlete last time out, and demonstrated next to no punching power. Physically he just looks like he’s turning into his dad!

Yes, very likely Usyk will be in better shape than Fury, but to what extent? Styles make fights, Usyk's boxing style is extremely, extraordinary energy-intensive, 37 is 37. Miracles do happen in medicine, but very rarely.
Is Usyk The Exception? may be.

Usyk form is totally fine and he’s actually been competing properly at top level, not fighting these plodders and debutants. I think Fury is just going to get stopped and maybe even early.

Usyk isn't extraordinary energy intensive though is he .. he is no heavyweight PacMan by any stretch of the imagination.
Usyk notoriously starts slow to gauge his opponent, and then once settled he boxes to keep his opponent from setting themselves .. Usyk like his compatriot Loma is about educated boxing to apply pressure .. not a high energy buzz-saw type fighter.

As someone said on an earlier page. If Fury expects to be able to just plod in to lean all over Usyk then he will very likely be tasting some hefty punches .. his chin looked even more suspect last time out, so it's a real gamble against a guy who made a big young strong heavyweight quit from a jab.

I think he is, Usyk style is extraordinary energy intensive (energy consuming). He is moving every second of every round. And, of course, he is throwing and landing punches https://shorturl.at/epzQV
Speaking of movement, he is always fast. He neither starts slow nor ends slow.
Yes there is a clear resemblance to Lomachenko, and this is amazing for a HW boxer.
But now he is 37.

Does anyone think this is actually going to happen? I'd bet on a Fury excuse and delay tactic as by far the most likely scenario.

With the money Saudi are offering and what they’re doing, I don’t think anyone’s pulling out of anything for a while.

That day of reckoning card, was short notice and not a single pull out.

Money talks

I do. He's never been in great shape and IMO motivation will be a problem. Money makes you soft and all that.

Indeed it does. I have no idea if he is done or not, he is erratic. As cliched as it sounds, I hope the best version of him fights.
I think it is also a testament to how Davidson is well regarded that Tyson has never bad mouthed him, he had bad mouthed most people.

I agree. It is a mouthwatering fight. I also don't think Opetaia will have flown all the way from Australia to Saudi to spar just five rounds. I suspect they sparred tons of rounds to help each other out, and it is just that: sparring.

Opetaia doesn’t really reap any benefits from sparring Fury just now, he has his own contest to prepare for and Fury isn’t good sparring in prep for Briedis.
Fury has lost out, what a great sparring partner Opetaia is for someone preparing to box Usyk.
