My mate is a bit more of casual fan.... he had me around for a bbq and to watch the fights, as he has cable...
An ad comes on promoting a new show with Dana White..... a scene comes up with Matt Serra saying some stuff.... my mate turns to me and says, "Is that Bas Rutten?".....

I fuckin lost my poo
They were in the ocean with sharks swimming around. Dana White went in first then Matt Serra said to the captain of the boat I think it was that he finally found his balls. Then once a huge shark started coming towards them they both wanted out asap. Swimming around sharks is not a smart idea. I'd only go in if a cage is provided.

When Jorge was asked why he came out with a flying knee he responded with..."Because he's a bum."
Honestly the way he clumsily leaned forward into the knee with both arms outstretched would seem to confirm that.
Askren makes Maia look like a well-rounded multi-dimensional fighter by comparison.
What did you make of Jones' performance? I turned the computer off before the main event so I didn't see it but from all reports he looked bad. Maybe the extra scrutiny he is under for roiding is forcing him stay off the stuff and it's affecting his performances is my highly speculative opinion.
I didn't buy the PPV (only managed to see the Askren KO via a YouTube clip) but it feels like Jones has gotten the habit of phoning it in and winning with the minimal possible effort.
It's a shame because he really is the GOAT MMA fighter. But these last few years of his career have been a pretty huge disappointment.

It looked to me as if Jones is losing his fire. What baffles me was his absence of takedown attempts. He had a compromised opponent in front of him who is a lethal striker and chose to continue to strike with him. I found it strange.
Yea what was so impressive about Jones when he was still young (aside from his crazy creativity) was that he could take down anybody, and once he got people down he would brutalize them and/or submit them with frightening efficiency. Now he seems content to stay on the feet, slowly outstrike people with jabs and leg kicks, and generally put forth the minimum effort possible to win.

Except with Floyd it made more sense because not only was he getting old, but he was also fighting at weight classes 17-24 pounds above where he debuted. Jones is fighting in the same weight class and is still pretty damn close to his prime athletic years.

That's the one
It was actually surprisingly funny. Doubt i'll watch it though.
Was out all weekend so forgot all about the fights this weekend. I said masvidal would beat askren. Askren was being tuned up in the previous fight and just managed to scrape through.
Made me day learning that, askren is a total cock.

I'm surprised Askren didn't have his skull fractured. It was brutal.
He's got that fornicating huge chin to absorb some of the impact, he literally looks like Mr Punch.
I bet he won't be wearing that shit eating grin any time again soon, certainly not when Masvidal is around.
That was the most brutal KO I think I've seen. The two shots he got in afterward were totally superfluous, but I don't blame him.
I laughed at the way he counted him out like in a wrestling match whilst he was on the floor. Normally I'd disprove of such lack of sportsmanship, but Askren deserves it, and more.
