I'm still trying to figure out why HJ has posted a picture of Kelson Pinto, I thought he disappeared into obscurity after Cotto pulverised him.
Pinto would have KO'ed Hatton had they fought instead of the late shenanigans that ensued.banjo wrote:I'm still trying to figure out why HJ has posted a picture of Kelson Pinto, I thought he disappeared into obscurity after Cotto pulverised him.

Pinto was garbage, built a fearsome looking record over a bunch of south american smackheads.scurlaruntings wrote:Pinto would have KO'ed Hatton had they fought instead of the late shenanigans that ensued.banjo wrote:I'm still trying to figure out why HJ has posted a picture of Kelson Pinto, I thought he disappeared into obscurity after Cotto pulverised him.

The belt was vacant. Hatton was the WBO mandatory twice. Both times the fights never came off. The first time against an unbeaten Corley he gave up his mandatory position to defend the WBU instead..banjo wrote:Witter v Hatton was far more relevant than Hatton v Pinto.
I never saw that quote and I've been around boxing boards since 2002.mickey1975 wrote:witter baltantly ducked pinto after john ingle watched a video of him and said something along the lines of "it was complete and utter destruction of everyone".it was well quoted at the time

The second time Warren accused Pinto of pulling out. Guess he may have watched the tapes and realised Pinto wasnt a complete cabbage. A rangy puncher vs stocky Ricky? Not a good match..

Most likely put out by SN to discredit Witter and protect Hatton!mickey1975 wrote:boxing news,i will dig it outopticald wrote:I never saw that quote and I've been around boxing boards since 2002.mickey1975 wrote:witter baltantly ducked pinto after john ingle watched a video of him and said something along the lines of "it was complete and utter destruction of everyone".it was well quoted at the time
Here's an article possibly referring to what you're talking about:mickey1975 wrote:boxing news,i will dig it outopticald wrote:I never saw that quote and I've been around boxing boards since 2002.mickey1975 wrote:witter baltantly ducked pinto after john ingle watched a video of him and said something along the lines of "it was complete and utter destruction of everyone".it was well quoted at the time
http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... itter.htmlFirst, however, Witter must see off the highly-rated Pinto, who has won all 18 of his professional bouts, with 16 of those victories coming inside the distance.
"My opponent's dangerous and I won't be taking him lightly," said Witter.
"He's been knocking everyone over and apparently he did everything there was to do in the amateurs.
"So he's coming through the ranks, but I'm going be the one to stop him, and I'll be happy to do it."
Witter's co-trainer John Ingle even believes Pinto poses a bigger threat to his charge than Hatton ever would.
"We've seen a tape of Pinto and it's just like a knockout compilation video," said Ingle.
"It's just terror, mayhem and destruction every time he goes out there.
"I've said to Junior this is more of a fight he could lose than against Ricky Hatton."
Would be interesting to read mate.. maybe you could scan it. I'm not saying I doubt you, just that I didn't hear it thats all!!mickey1975 wrote:boxing news,i will dig it outopticald wrote:I never saw that quote and I've been around boxing boards since 2002.mickey1975 wrote:witter baltantly ducked pinto after john ingle watched a video of him and said something along the lines of "it was complete and utter destruction of everyone".it was well quoted at the time

Rumour has it that Hugh Johnson wants KP bottom, not comfirmed thiough, but likely.
I think he us sayoing that Witter ducked him?
Well, lets have the Hatton roll of shame, Mosley - Cotto - Judah - Witter - Corley - Urkal,
All wanted a piece of Hatton, Hatton say no no no!

If junior is worried about the repercusions in later life...he picked the wrong sport.DG. wrote:Dioufy wrote:I would rather be sparked cold by the best fighter in the world than quit against a prospect.
Would you?
I would rather win!
ALSO, Witter was injured and saved to see another day because he was injured, also being knocked COLD may have an impact on later life.
Alexander/Bradley etc would ko Hatton, and quick!
Pinto was warming up into that fight and comfortably won the round just before it was stopped.states wrote:And then lost against him in the pro's. And then got beat by Vince Phillips (albeit controversially, if I remember. Headclash, or something?), after beating a two nobodies. And then retired. But yeah, he'd have smashed Hatton.
Where did I mention Witter? Witter did himself no favours in his career.states wrote:Do I need to mention that Hatton walked through everything Tszyu threw at him? And that Cotto, at 140, had his problems with Torres, and Malignaggi?
Hatton is no all time great. But don't run down everything he's done, and the fights he didn't take, in an attempt to make Witter look better than he was. It's tiresome.
