I agree. I was very cynical about it but it looks like a festival of fun.
Still not mad keen on the fight, though. I hope it is a pre arranged exhibition rather than a real fight.

Just had a go at someone on Facebook for sayings it’s sanctioned. But then I checked boxrec and it’s finally popped up. Is it maybe sanctioned now? Lol British Board!

Boxrec says pro debut for Ngannou. Frank must have sorted it last minute. It says the commission is the BBBofC aswell.

Many years back. They owe their continued existence to a loan by a certain allegedly. They haven't been fit for purpose for decades.
It's a shame that Boxrec caved on this, I was starting to have some respect for them.
Edit: nearly forgot you can't type his name on here. Lol
allegedly = Fish Eyes, aka Brick Top, aka Promoter of Tyson Fury

Me too. BBBoC just a ltd company at the end of the day. Limited literally and figuratively where ethics stand.

These YouTube/social media fights definitely banging another nail in the coffin. Boxing almost out of the Olympic Games as well perhaps. Any decent heavyweight champion would get Ngannou out of there in round 2. They wouldn’t flounce around and carry the guy.

A lot of people weren't happy about McGregor getting Mayweather to 50-0 but because Floyd was retired it never bothered me, no doubt he fought plenty of cans early doors, doesn't really matter what order they come in I suppose but the best heavyweight on the planet being sanctioned 10 rounds to box professionally by the BBBC against a debutant amateur or pro is nothing short of disgraceful , what are they playing at? Changing the rules to allow Wardley to defend his British is one thing but this is about as low as it gets

I was one of them, still am. It makes a mockery of both the sport and Marciano's record. The Nevada SAC should be thrashed with the raggy end of a pineapple.

The same board who knock back Bulgarian fighters for 6 rounders against novices

The Saudis have just thrown stupid amounts of money at it .. it would be as big as it is regardless of who was fighting who.
The list of Greats there is proof of that. They have spent a fortune paying for them to be there to bring an air of occasion and legitimacy to it.
It's great Fury, Ngannou etc are making exceptional money. It's good the ex-champs and GAD sycophants are getting an all expenses paid 6* jolly out of it .. but long term boxing is the loser because without the same type of money is not gonna be available for the unknown amateur just turning pro to build a following ..

Well I'm seeing now that it is NOT an Exhibition, and it is listed as a 10 round Professional Boxing match.
In that case, I actually like it, and have no issue with it. It's gonna make me 20 bucks this weekend because one of my Co workers is certain that Ngannou is gonna knock Fury out in 3

I got Fury at 1/10, which is the easiest money I'm ever gonna make.

To be honest, I really fail to see the difference between this and Floyd vs McGregor - Floyd might have "retired" but he was still active. I got absolutely crucified on here for labelling Hopkins as retired before the Calzaghe fight - but he also announced his retirement in the fight before Calzaghe. Floyd was still carrying the belts of an active fighter at the time of the fight.
I think the ONLY difference between this fight and the Floyd vs McGregor fight is actually the Floyd vs McGregor fight - in that we have seen now the gulf in experience and class and what it does in that Floyd, whilst I will say fought at strategy respectful fight and came in good shape, played with McGregor and was on a different level and at least McGregor had size and youth over Floyd - but the essence of it is exactly the same. So if people were okay with the state comission sanctioning that bout, I cannot understand how this is "disgraceful".
Likewise, for me getting the British title fights to be fought overseas is a good progressive move.
Not dismissing the human rights issues of Saudi Arabia and the obvious sports washing that is taking place and I don't like that promoters and fighters are just flocking to the money without a care in the world about this - but I don't see it as a boxing fight any different to Floyd vs McGregor really. Yes, some subtle differences yes - e.g. Floyd vs McGregor was always build up as proper fight - they even campaigned to get it for one of Floyds belts if memory serves. The fact that this has always been as clear as mud on the rules, is it real or an exhibition, will it be proper boxing gloves etc does leave us question if it now just a sanctioned exhibition - but as far as the two combatants are concerned it is very similar.

Both Mayweather-McGregor and Fury-Ngannou are equally terrible. I don't know why you're using Mayweather-McGregor as an example, it was a steaming pile of dog sh1t.

The May/Mac fight was always an absolute farce and neither fight should have been sanctioned but for me the only differences are:
- Mayweather wasn't holding up a division.
- McGregor actually has some amateur youth boxing experience, Ngannou has none. Even McGregor's MMA boxing is levels above Ngannou's, who has awful technique.
- The power at Heavyweight is no joke. Having an absolute rookie, whether they're 270 lbs or not, taking punches from the heavyweight champion for 10 rounds poses a lot more risks than Mayweather over 10 rounds.

I’d love to see Fury get knocked out, he’s a hideously overpaid, overrated fckin embarrassment. Please let it happen, somehow.
From Ngannou’s perspective, with a bit of luck Fury will enter the ring tonight with a level of cardio that actually matches that jiggling physique.

I'd love to see Fury knocked out after the shameless way he weaseled out of fighting Usyk. Once Fury comes sniffing around for a comeback against Usyk with his tail between his legs, Usyk should say he's fighting Ngannou--the man who beat the man.
