Khabib actually seems more likable than most to me. He's no-nonsense and humorless, but I'd always prefer that to a cringeworthy circus act like McGregor.
Yeah, I’m not sure why people don’t like Khabib. Is it maybe his style? Probably want to move away from MMA if that’s the case.jujigatame wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 21:56 Khabib actually seems more likable than most to me. I was there last night and agree with you 100% on both counts. Atmosphere was great, though inevitably felt more like we were in Russia given the level of support of Khabib in particular.
He's the anti-McGregor that's why, McGregor represents the loutish pisshead lad culture that's so popular at the moment.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 02:52Yeah, I’m not sure why people don’t like Khabib. The thing that annoyed me about broner is that he can't fight and people thought he could. Khabib definitely doesn't have that problem. He's a bad ass, just fake as fuxk.oogiebe wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 19:47Worse than Adrian Broner?Onetimeonly wrote: ↑07 Sep 2019, 19:41
No question, fornicate khabib though. Lol, most unlikeable fighter I've ever come across.![]()
I was wondering about that due to a number of fighters mentioning it, as well as the announcers.Deserter wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 07:56I was there last night and agree with you 100% on both counts. The one thing TV can't ever convey fully is just how hot it was in the arena and the impact that must have had on some of the fighters. It made Felder's workrate even more impressive given that context.
I think that it is his style, and the fact that he is a (allegedly) devout Muslim.lillywhite14 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 02:52Yeah, I’m not sure why people don’t like Khabib. Is it maybe his style? I will be rooting for Ferguson.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 10:05 I don't mind his style and I turned back to college football before his speech. Perhaps he is genuine, I don't like the whole deeply religious, humble family man + arrogant violent street gangster combo. I'm not buying it. I don't think he's currently the best in his division much less the goat. Let's see him beat scarface and we can start talking about that. Definitely among a handful of the most dominant ever, he's just now starting to stack big names as far as historical ranking is concerned.
The Ferguson fight is pretty much a done deal for Khabib’s next defense. He stated as much in his post fight interview on ESPN+, and he is good with it.
It's a fair question, but the timing of the fight means it's unlikely to be a factor - that area of Saudi in early December will be fine in terms of heat and humidity - average highs of 22C and lows of 10C. For example, here in the UAE in about 5-6 weeks the temperature will literally drop by around 10 degrees as we head into winter and the humidity disappears as well.ironbeard wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 09:29I was wondering about that due to a number of fighters mentioning it, as well as the announcers.Deserter wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 07:56

It makes me wonder if the heat will be a factor in TFKoB v AJ II. If so, I believe that it will give TFKoB the advantage, since he comes from the Saudi Arabia of America (weather-wise), The Imperial Valley.
Makes sense.Deserter wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 14:10It's a fair question, but the timing of the fight means it's unlikely to be a factor - that area of Saudi in early December will be fine in terms of heat and humidity - average highs of 22C and lows of 10C. I'd say it was around 30-35C, but the killer was the humidity, as it was brutal - worst I've known this year and was honestly akin to an open air sauna. The arena is a temporary structure, so while it had A/C units, we were still sweating just sitting in our seats. Add in the fact that those lights over the Octagon will have added a few more degrees and... actually, just found this which sums things up far better than me!ironbeard wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 14:16Makes sense.Deserter wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 14:10

What do you figure the temp was last night?
Pretty damned oblivious of fighter health by the UFC, combined with flat out stupidity; callous, ignorant disregard for the performers.Deserter wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 14:24I'd say it was around 30-35C, but the killer was the humidity, as it was brutal - worst I've known this year and was honestly akin to an open air sauna. If not, he will be when Khabib gets done with him.
Looks like Colby is getting fucked again. Very strange how Dana hates him. Maybe he banged some porn star Dana was crushing on.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 16:39 I'm interested in seeing what the BMF belt will look like.
On a side note, Colby sent out a tweet calling Jorge a trashbag.
I wish we could find out what the details were for the fight not being made. I read the numbers weren't good for Colby/Lawler. I'm sure Colby is asking a lot more than Dana thinks he's worth. Colby has invested a lot into his persona. It would be a shame if it doesn't pay off.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 18:06Looks like Colby is getting fucked again. Very strange how Dana hates him. Then Dana offers masvidal a title shot and usman asks for too much, then Edwards, finally Nate.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 18:21I wish we could find out what the details were for the fight not being made. Dunno. Consider someone like Bones Jones as being the epitome of fake. Khabib is more in the realm of uneducated ruffian, or at least to my very limited exposure.Onetimeonly wrote: ↑08 Sep 2019, 09:03
