Joe Frazier V Jumbo Cummings.

It popped up on my YouTube feed, so I decided to watch it.

Frazier was 37, which today would make him the undisputed HW champion, but in 1981, it meant shot to buggery and Frazier certainly was.

He was slow, uncoordinated with dreadful timing.

He did well to eek out a draw, but that said more about Cummings than it did about Frazier.

Ironically the next fight to pop up on my feed was Berbick V Ali, which I didn't watch.

It's ironic that these two icons and great rivals both came out of retirement to fight in December 1981.

I dread to think what would have happened next had both men won their respective fights. :o

I would say that the Mugabi fight was the first time we really saw how Hagler had slipped.

OK, we saw it a bit with the Hearns fight, but we really saw it against Mugabi.

Marvin's speed had diminished and he had morphed from a classic boxer puncher to almost an all-out brawler.

He took a lot of punishment against Mugabi, but he also gave it back and he had such a phenomenal chin that he could get away with it.

It was this fight that convinced Leonard to come back and challenge Hagler.

Great fight indeed.

He stopped Braithwaite in 4, cracking scrap with one of the worst stoppages you'll ever see
