Yeah, I thought a snapping jab from the outside would have given her a much better chance. I also though Sav looked nervous on the way to the ring.

Got up early to watch ,thought i'll give it a go and see what all the hype is about , first fight don't know who it was , i stopped watching , tuned in to see the main event , really thought don't know what the fuss is about , was'nt impressed with Marshall at all , and 2 minuite rnds , did'nt help , i think if the women want the recognition and the money men get they must start doing the 3 minuites the men do ,, overall did'nt see anything to change my mind about womens boxing ,, I still don't like it

Will never like her , her big gob overrides how good she is at boxing . Can't see past that .

She’s a talent, that’s for sure. I’m not sure why she fancies herself in MMA, it’s a whole different ball game.
If she gets humiliated in MMA, does that not tarnish her ‘GWOATness’ in boxing?

She's already lost in mma.

was also a couple minutes away from losing another fight to a 3-6 opponent, clearly mma isnt her thing. you cant just walk into the sport and start dominating more experienced fighters if you have no background except for boxing

I know but I was thinking more of a James Toney v Randy Couture type humiliation.

96-94 isn't a bad scorecard for the fight.. Anything from 96-94 to 98-20 would be accepted IMO.

Shields won her rounds big. But I gave 4 rounds to Marshall.

Over 2m sports fans tuned in to the historic night of women’s boxing on Saturday making it the most watched women’s professional boxing event in history, and the biggest audience for a live women’s sport event ever on Sky.

The live coverage, featuring two world title fights and some of the UK’s most exciting young fighters, reached over 2m viewers, with millions more watching the build-up and action across Sky Sports Boxing YouTube and Sky Sports TikTok live streams.

In addition to those watching on TV and online, a sell-out crowd filled The O2, demonstrating the growth in women’s sport. 35% of tickets sold were bought by women, well over the usual amount, and almost 40% of those that watched at home were women – well above the normal average for a fight night on Sky Sports.

Jonathan Licht, Managing Director, Sky Sports said: “What a amazing night! This was a pivotal moment not just for women’s boxing but the sport as a whole. To know that such a large audience tuned in at home to see these fights – in addition to a sell-out crowd at The O2 – shows the interest and potential for the sport.

Congratulations to all the fighters that took to the ring on Saturday – you made history. To make the event available to a wider and new audience, Sky Sports’ coverage was simulcast on Sky Showcase, meaning households without a Sky Sports subscription could
also watch. Sky Sports YouTube streamed four undercard fights including Top Rank’s Mikaela Mayer and Alycia Baumgardner.

On Saturday Sky also launched its new interactive Viewer’s Verdict feature on the Sky Sports App. The innovative second screen experience, which saw 45,000 fans take part, allowed users to score cards and take part in polls on the night.

The next fight on Sky Sports will be headlined by Natasha Jonas world title unification fight with Maire-Eve Dicaire on 12th November in Manchester.

Then it was on Sky Showcase which is part of the Sky signature package..

Then it was live on youtube again from 9 pm as well..

ive noticed they started to report viewing figures like this in the uk, just adding up the total card views, or counting ppv buys globally. eddeh pulled the same stuff out for canelo-ggg 3 too

traditionally it's just been the average viewerrship or domestic buys

sounds like it did well regardless , but that's some puffery

this had stacked women's fights, but if it encourages them to have jonas-dicare headliners all the time, then

this card was how it should be done, but i worry it's gonna saturate broadcasts with much lesser quality women's fights

Yeh, they used to have average and then peak, mostly in US.

UK it was never announced unless they wanted it to be known.. apart from that, we could check BARB back then..

I have a mate who is a casual and who thought Meyer was absolutely robbed on Saturday.

I said before the fight there's something very smug and unlikable about Mayer and it's showing after the fight. Saying Baumgardner knew she lost etc.

With any luck the commentary work will dry up a bit for her and her employers there will let her know she should learn to lose with a bit more grace.

Ultimately I think her smugness is a result of her being Top Ranks one and only female who they threw all their attention and praise onto.

I think I gave Marshall 6,7,8 and 9 and was undecided on either the 5th or 10th.

Shields by a round or a draw.

Some people calling it a shutout, which I don't see

I have it a pretty clear 7-3 job.
