John, do you ever have anything positive to say about boxers you don't like? And I mean, ever.

Tyson is a convicted rapist, so the fight couldn't be made while he was in prison. Then he had rebuilding fights, then paid Lewis to step aside, then lost to Holyfield twice, then he was banned for biting Evander's ear, then he was rebuilding again, then the fight got made.BigDoofus wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:24When did Lewis v Bowe happen?big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:04 When Lewis vs Holyfield was made, no one was doubting it would happen. when you write it like this it's very stark - accurate though. 95 - 89 second fight vs bar room fella

96/97 - have a chew on Evander
02 - fight Lewis, get beat up and look sad at end

Where's the "Fury pulls out with new excuse" option?
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
If Fury wants out of the fight there are lots of easy injuries to fake, no one would cut themself as it will put them at a disadvantage for the future.big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:04 When Lewis vs Holyfield was made, no one was doubting it would happen. And they ended boxing twice.
But with Fury vs Uysk, a lot of people doubted that Fury would take the challenge on the 23rd December. End result, he didn't.
It was rescheduled for 17th February and a lot of fans and ex pros doubted it would happen and suspected that Fury would find a reason to pull out. End result, Fury got cut, did pull out and grainy, inconclusive, footage emerged.
Is anyone absolutely confident that Fury will be available on the 18th May?
I hope so. At this stage, he needs this fight more than Uysk, legacy wise.
It's like asking someone to break your hand.
As I said, if you need to feign an injury, any x-ray of any boxers hand would show a mess, enough for a sick note.

Photoshop? Old photo? Both possibilities. If it was Usyk, no one would be doubting it, but this is Luke Tyson Fury we're talking about.Coco wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 09:17If Fury wants out of the fight there are lots of easy injuries to fake, no one would cut themself as it will put them at a disadvantage for the future.big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:04 When Lewis vs Holyfield was made, no one was doubting it would happen. All boxers carry injuries and always need something fixed.
No one cuts themselves

I'm not saying he cut himself on purpuse, just that it is a fact that there has been two formal dates signed and he has pulled out both times.Coco wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 09:17If Fury wants out of the fight there are lots of easy injuries to fake, no one would cut themself as it will put them at a disadvantage for the future.big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:04 When Lewis vs Holyfield was made, no one was doubting it would happen. Also, I listened to interviews with Dominic Ingle and Carl Froch, who have coached and boxed to the highest possible level, respectively, and they questioned the type of headgear and sparring Fury was wearing and doing at that stage of training camp.
Was it just recklessness on his part or was his form not quite as good as he wanted and was trying to fight himself into form?
I remember David Tua saying he gave Holyfield all the problems in the world during sparring for most of the camp for the Holyfield vs Tyson 1 fight until, suddenly, Holyfield hit top form and gave him a pasting every day for a week. It could be that type of scenario?
It's all hard to pin point, but it is much harder getting Fury into the ring against Uysk than it was getting Holyfield and Lewis to fight. They signed, the fought, and then had an immediate rematch.

Why do you ignore Usyk turning down the fight in December 2022 with an “injury” and then pulling out of the April 2023 fight?big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 10:12I'm not saying he cut himself on purpuse, just that it is a fact that there has been two formal dates signed and he has pulled out both times.Coco wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 09:17If Fury wants out of the fight there are lots of easy injuries to fake, no one would cut themself as it will put them at a disadvantage for the future.big lennox wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 07:04 When Lewis vs Holyfield was made, no one was doubting it would happen. Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
Fights are postponed more than people think (or remember). Ali vs Foreman was postponed due to a cut. Foreman was meant to fight Holmes in 1999, it was on, then off, then postponed and then it never happened. Homes vs Cooney was postponed as Cooney hurt his back. Thats the tip of the iceberg, plenty of other examples if you look for them. Fury was clearly cut, he didn't do it on purpose so it's been rescheduled, it happens, I find it bizarre that people have to find conspiracy theories about everything.
If you look at Usyk he postponed his CW fight with Gassiev in 2018 due to a elbow injury (described in one article as a minor injury). Usyk also postponed a fight with Takam in 2019 due to a bicep injury, that fight never materialised afterwards.

Holyfield had all the belts in 1990. Lewis retrieved the WBC belt from the bin in 1992.
They didn’t fight until 1999 (and Lewis didn’t fight Tyson until 2002).

Lewis admitted himself that he was offered 3 million for the fight in 1992 and turned it down.
Bowe threw the belt in the bin because it was going to be taken off him anyway.
Lewis would rather have picked up the vacant title than fight Bowe for 3 million for it. Straight out of his own mouth.
Lewis isn't beating 1992 Bowe in my view.
Re: Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk | PPV - 18 May 2024
Agree. Also, Bowe signed to fight Lewis later, but Lewis got chinned by Mccall and that scuppered the fight.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 11:15Lewis admitted himself that he was offered 3 million for the fight in 1992 and turned it down.

In the Olympic fight Bowe is actually winning it handily. Especially round 1. Gets caught in round 2 and beaten but Bowe was known to get hurt even as an amateur and recover. Quick stoppage in an Olympic final.
I'm not sure any fighter beats that Bowe of the first Holyfield fight nevermind Lewis. Pretty much shot to pieces 4 years later vs Golota. The style caught up with him along with eating like a pig.

So Bowe was amazing, even when got stopped in the Olympics and he was shot to pieces, because he was losing back to back fights against a guy Lewis dispatched in a round?TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑15 Feb 2024, 12:10 In the Olympic fight Bowe is actually winning it handily. there's an article in this week's BN about Bowe. Only cost £300 to get him on Buncey's Boxing Hour!

Bowe looked great against Holyfield but who else did he beat? Title defences against Ferguson and Dokes were scraping the barrel.

What is it with this type of antagonistic and weird rhetorical "funny" questioning. See it fairly regularly these days.
