He looked good against Gonzalez. Sadly, I think lack of discipline and over eating ( building a kitchen into his bedroom) undermined what could have been a sensational career.

Yeah no doubt he had the physical tools and ability to do a lot more than he did, take Holyfield out the equation and it was a pretty average career. As you say he didn't have the discipline to dedicate himself to the sport. I know Gonzalez turned pro with high exceptions but he never really achieved anything, carefully matched to a title shot and then pretty much done nothing after that.

Sadly, Bowe didn't leave the game with most of his money and brains intact.
a chaotic life from reading it. He briefly tried to join the marines and seemed to take his own family hostage at one point. CTE from the sounds of it which is sad whatever indiscretions he has made. Do you know of any decent biographies of him? Bunce's article is really good in BN this week.

I am sorry for hugely derailing this thread.

So Bowe was amazing, even when got stopped in the Olympics and he was shot to pieces, because he was losing back to back fights against a guy Lewis dispatched in a round?
What is it with this type of antagonistic and weird rhetorical "funny" questioning. See it fairly regularly these days.
What's with it? Well, it's a counter to your blindly biased nonsense using some facts.

I think one thing everyone can agree on is that, having seen Fury vs Ngannou, Lennox Lewis would have made short work of Fury. He would have absolutely blasted him into the middle of next week.

That is true. Gonzalez seemed to be just following Bowe around, got turned over and then lost interest.

Fury v Ngannou was similar to Lewis v Mercer but so far he’s not had a performance similar to McCall or Rahman.

That would be true, if Ngannou was a former Olympic Gold Medallist and former WBO HW Champion.

That's also true, as he ducked out of fighting a rematch against the last guy to beat him, David Price, after Price blasted out John McDermott in 90 seconds. Lewis avenged both his defeats and left no doubt, so you're correct, not similar at all.

No way will Fury go near Usyk for a rematch. I mean, he'd have to actually fight him first before a rematch!

Yeah. We can equate Ngannou as being on Ray Mercer’s level. Put the crack pipe down John ffs!!!
