LONDON (Reuters) - Joe Calzaghe said on Tuesday he would not come out of retirement to fight Carl Froch after the English super middleweight demanded an all-British world title showdown.
"I am sick to death of him drumming up free publicity for himself by using my name, no one who watched the fight with Taylor can believe he is in my class, he's my stalker, nothing more.
.
If Froch keeps it up he runs the risk of ending up like Witter ... remembered more for the guy he didn`t fight than any of his good fights in the ring
Move on Carl - your better than your showing yourself to be.

I think Froch should shut up about Calzaghe now and get on with his career but i think if Calzaghe did come back he would beat Froch

Delusional. Joe is better in almost every department. This type of comment is astonishing.
easier to look great when you stay at home and fight bums
even then he looked like an amateur bully for most of the time
froch would give him a good thrashing.
joe has his spotless record but it means f all when two were controversial decisions with no rematch to set the record straight
21 defenses, at least 12 of which should not have been sanctioned!
jaw calzaghe, the british virgil hill, nothing but!

Calzaghe vs Kessler was a love-in.
The most polite fight i ever bore witness.
The Lacy fight begged the question, can Joe actually finish an opponent despite them staggering round like an over-muscled, over-hyped, pop-eye impersonator ?

I'm starting to wonder if Carl Froch is actually here himself, posting under various names. The same OLD anti Calzaghe rant being recycled again and again and again..... and again. Im sure if you looked back over Froch's record you'll find yourself a few bums, haven't heard that mentioned yet.
Can't people just get over it? JC will not fight Froch because he knows he lacks class and respect (and ability).

if calzaghe thought froch lacked ability he'd be all over him, ala manfredo!
joe said he'd fight froch is froch had a title (i believe).
speaking of class, do you call joe "puching" manfredo with his wrists class? fighting down to bika class? waiting 8 years to step up class? burying the worst title at home and waiting for things to happen class?
then Joe is a classy kinda guy.

Froch's limitations at world class have been exposed, he just gets lucky he has managed to Ko one and make the other(Pascal) scarced of getting Ko'ed.
Calzaghe would annilhate him, being a lucky puncher fools the fans into thinking he has a chance. You guys were duped by Hatton's pressure until Floyd toyed with him and Pavlik being strong until Bitchkins owned him.
If Taylor's lack of power can down him then Calzaghe's fist of the north star punch flurries will have him out on his feet.
Froch can only fight one way and it will be a bad defeat waiting to happen. He's fell in love with Hamed and RJJ tapes like most boxers and he's not even fast.

Kessler would smash Froch, he doesn't have stamina problems like Taylor.
Lacy should of been pulled out and even his promoter was shouting at the corner and proved his toughness while Froch has been wobbled by domestic fighters like Reid an downed at world class with only small amounts of punches while it took loads to down Lacy. Plus nut hugging the Lacy fight is impossible since even rating it is underrating that fight.
Looks like i have to post the result of Froch Vs Calzaghe if it ever happened again. Calzaghe would side step him like in that video too.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mz3jYkZMqqA
Even a retired Joe would demolish the overhyped Froch, boxing fans are easy to dupe when someone scores a ko. People need to face Joe is an atg and one of the best British boxers. They have to nitpick even when it's clear how good he was.

max, you are duped by WBO titles, safe matchmaking and questionable records
froch goes to america, with an eye infection, in his 1st defence, scores a late KO - and he's "lucky". my, oh my.
froch showed some vulnerablities but will move on and improve, as for instance adamek did - a man who took shocking punishment in his first 3 US fights and is now lineal cruiserweight king. when you take risks things can go wrong. again i will repeat, froch's win over taylor was more conclusive than joe's lucky win over hopkins
calzaghe hasn't annihilated anyone in a long time. lacy took 100 shots a round yet still made the distance.
![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)
D froch has just got a win to equal joe's beating of lacy. froch does it in 1st defence, calzaghe does it in 16th defence

When the most interesting thing about you is your cornerman's 'tache you really need to think about turning it in.
People like this guy simply have little concept of the realities of the sport.... I've just joined this forum and i'm thinking of leaving... why hate calzaghe? He is the Welsh Sugar Ray Robinson... only faster and unbeaten.... 1200 punches a round....

i don't hate joe. i raved about his wins over kessler and lacy, but blimey it looked like even these fights weren't going to happen. and the follow ups were disappointing.
i do think the WBO are a pile of shit and that joe ain't the fighter he could have been, because of it. he's unbeaten, he has his money and his record, but do we watch fights to see someone build up a record?
"hey, X fighter is on tonight. can't wait to see him notch up defence # 587!" Must stop in tonight and see the next number in the sequence notched up!
for example, i enjoyed some of Darius Michalczewski's WBO title defences (the 4 or 5 legit fights) but no way could i sit through all the mismatches. i'd rather see exciting individual fights, which froch brings.
joe is a modern british great, but he didn't reach out for true greatness - the p4p throne was in his grasp with mayweather jr retired.

He was the P4P best in my eyes.... In our village we have a newsagents with a whole wall dedicated to Joe Calzaghe. Sometimes we go their and read throght the old press clippings.... other times we just close our eyes and think about the great wins. Its not like praying but similer coz I just close my eyes, get into a boxing stance and think about Joe. I try and send him telepathic good willl messages but i don't really believe in that stuff. We've all got great stories about Joe and one time he drove through our village. 7th May 2003 14:55.....

Everyone in my village hates him... If he ever drives through the village I'm going to shout at him. From a safe distance.
