i predicted many months ago that this would be carnage. To be honest I'm surprised that he took the match, showed some balls, but I feel the cash was probably just too big a lure. As with Mayweather. I see no other reason to start going in with these types of guys after such a cagey start on the World scene, and coming from a very low risk camp.

You've got to understand this has been a long time coming for our Search after he got so shown up by Hatton not only turning up to fight Tzsyu but actually winning. Maybe the Mayweather loss just wasn't enough.
Can't really understand someone taking so much pleasure from somebody loosing? Sure you celebrate somebody winning, but to celebrate them loosing? Each to their own I suppose
Coco is right, Ricky has gone out to the States and fought the best two fighters in the world. He came up well short both times but he tried and gave enough British fans some great nights. He should now retire and he will be missed. Our only legit PPV fighter currently.

Exactly what I thought would happen. It was just one of those fights where you could see one man didn't have the arsenal to deal with the other. Hatton would have been ko'd by Pacman at any stage in his career, all this crap about his lifestyle catching up with him is irrelevant.

He should retire. He could have done serious damage after that fight.
Hope he recovers fully but he should enjoy his money now.

if Ricky hatton and Joe Calzaghe are off the scene then the Brit scene is bleak
David haye apart im not that excited for the coming few years
Carl Froch is not the answer as god as his fight with pascal was his last performance was not good to watch apart from then finish , up till that point not much action from him.
Hatton and Calzaghe will be missed
hope hatton goes out in style with top fight

Well, not top level fighting, that's for sure.
He can operate comfortably just below the Mayweathers & Pacquiaos of the world, but he shouldn't attempt to take on the big boys again.

Yeah, but even guy's like Tim Bradley and Kendall Holt are gonna give him a hard night and for a lot less money than he's made against Floyd and Pacman. It's just not worth fighting on in my opinion, because he's not gonna become the best at 140 or 147 in my opinion. And you can totally forget about those p4p dreams which were just that in the first place.

Sad end, but this is the risk when you fight a P4P#1.
Gutted that it ended so early and devastating, credit to PacMan but that was really poor by Ricky. Easiest win for PacMan in a good while.
I think Hatton may need one more soft fight in Manchester as a farewell then retire.

Couldnt agree more.
Hatton was a very good fighter and did reach the "world class" level but like most things in boxing was hyped to the hilt, and acheived "superstar" status, but IMO this was due more to his ability to get a huge following rather than his abilities in the ring. At the ultra world class level was found well short, as stated by Jim Watt. Ive never really been a fan of his style. Ive never liked watching pressure fighters who lack a consistent one punch KO shot. Having said that, I was quite upset seeing Hatton at the end, for a moment I thought he was in a real bad way, thank god he recovered.
Pacman was his usual awesome self. He was light years better than Ricky in every department, handspeed, power, combination punching, defense, and especially footwork, Manny's footwork was some of the best I have seen.
Thinking about it the way Ricky fights, he was hand made for Pacman, if Ricky had boxed he may have prolonged the fight to the mid way point, but Pacman is so good, the ended wouldnt have been different.
The fight reminded me of a combination of Don Curry - Milton McCrory and Kenny Vice - Jim McDonnell. Although those fights werent as chilling as the defeat of Hatton by Pacman.
The term great fighter is way overused in boxing and at least 50% of the time it is used is inappropriate, but Pacman is right up there with the all time greats in Boxing. There is no discgrace in Hatton losing to him. He was simply way out of his depth.
If Pacman beats Maywesther convincingly I would have to put him up there as one of the greatest fighters in history.

Hatton wAS TOTALLY blasted, but you have to wonder about his conditioning, I mean he was KTFO and polaxed with that punch, but to be honest he was dazed after the first punch of round 1, by a supposedly smaller man???
Mayweather will not want any part of pac-man, he'll run a mile before fighting him.
Pac-man is by far the p4p no 1.
ricky retire mate, bernard manning has left a hole in the comedy circuit.

I think the clue is in the first word of that sentence, Pacman. Pacquiao is a true all time great. The idea that Witter would have mullered Hatton is preposterous. Witter couldn't even muller some of the european level guys he was fighting. And did you forget the Bradley fight?

Mayweather's mouth has got on everyone's nerves. If he's the so-called best trainer in the world then why didn't he have a strategy to deal with the Pacman's southpaw style. To me it looked like Hatton had never seen a southpaw in his life!
Freddie Roach quietly went about his work, no trash talk etc. just getting on with the job. It's very sad that Parkinsons disease is taking it's toll because Roach has so much to give.
