- Then you'd be better off using Larry Holmes who padded out the most bogus heavy title record since Patterson held the title.

Currently Ring highly rates 3 defeated title opponents of Ricky. They only rate 2 of Mr. Money's title opponents, one of them being Ricky.

Could be you heavily relate to Peter McNeeley as your logic reveals about the same level of his boxing acumen.

One issue I take with Hatton is that I don't consider junior welterweight to be a legitimate division. Fighters accomplishments are convoluted a bit by all the bogus divisions which give the best fighters even more reason to avoid facing each other.

With regards to Hatton's capabilities, the point was that some people seemed to be suggesting that Pacquiao rates in the top 25. A win over Hatton is good but I don't think it gives Pacquiao much of an advantage if he is being compared to the very best fighters ever.

I believe Barerra, Marquez and Morales are all top fighters who would enhance the record of any fighter at that weight category. To beat those guys you have to be special.

Hatton was a world class fighter. It’s arguable as to whether he is a gilt-edged great. I don’t think he was but to beat him you had to be a top fighter. Besides Pac is fighting up the weight classes. Not like Mayweather who just bounces about to pick his opponents…Manny did make himself the Featherweight king before he moved up.

You have to look at Pac’s win over Hatton as a guy who beat world class fighters at Flyweight going on to beat a very dangerous guy at Jr Welter… Not too dissimilar to Duran beating Marcel at Feather and going on to beat Barkley at Middle. Okay moving up these days is not the same as it used to be but even so…

I think Pac really is a throwback to a golden age where a fighter fought the best and sought challenges.

Can these guys only come from developed countries now? I look at guys like Jones and Mayweather, men who were supposed to represent the best of boxing, and all I see are very talented boxers doing their best not to take too many risks (or any at all). Hopkins puts himself out there and Toney has eaten his way into more dangerous territory but risk avoidance is the name fo the game in USA and Europe.

Bert Sugar is a retarded, old drunk just looking to get his name in the papers (or on the message boards) because he's afraid that he's no longer relevant to boxing. For YEARS, he said that Roy Jones wasn't one of the top 100 fighters of all time, complaining that he was nothing at middleweight because he just beat some joke contender for the vacant IBF World Middleweight Championship and wasn't the true king of the division. Oh, and that joke contender? Bernard fuckin' Hopkins.
