Yeah Neslon the most boring fighter in history and Nicky "The Love Doctor" Piper need to be wheeled out of the fire exit and have the door slammed shut behind them. Boring barstewards.

Colin Hart though is a proper smug old pudendum. He was on the radio the next day spouting on like he was the only one who was calling it spot on. Speed Kills. So does euthanasia you old fool. He looks like he should be Hawkman's grandad off Buck Rogers.

I don't think Colin Hart has ever been an advocate of Ricky Hatton and his following anyway.

He's always been 'down' on him from the start.

I backed Hatton with my heart and Pacman with my head.

Ricky has always faired badly with southpaws, but if he was lying in a semi-concious state in the ring and moments later Hart saying 'told you so' in not so many words, then that lacks a bit of class.

Levander Johnson was only 35 and had four kids when he collapsed of a blood clot in his changing about half hour after been stopped in that very ring in the MGM Grand.

That kind of concussive shot rattled Ricky's brain no doubt.

Hart told it like it was and his honesty rattled the Hatton cheerleeders.

He told everyone that Hatton was no match for Pacman and that Hatton "was no Mayweather" when they were talking about Pac beating Mayweather. He basically laid out the reasons why Hatton is overrated and was never really that good and certainly not an elite level of fighter.

I liked Harts honesty but it seems people would prefer a biased observer telling us all that Ricky was "unlucky".

I only got to watch the replay unfortunately and didn't see Harts comments, but they all sound fair enough and truthful unlike the usual knob jockying on Sky Sports. Thats a breath of fresh air.

I backed Pacquiao myself so he never told me anything I didn't know. He said a late mid to late stoppage I backed an 8 and 9th round stoppage. Got nothing to do with correct predictions just thought his overall demeanour in the studio was very bland and he was a bore on the panel.

Nelson and Piper seem to say what they think their employers want.
Colin Hart just calls it straight.
And those who think he did anything other than that on Saturday night are deluding themselves. Too many sports programmes offer up pundits as little better than cheerleaders.
I suspect Colin is in the fortunate position of not needing the money.
He may not be always right, but at least he is objective.

PS for a really good analysis of the night and what it means to Hatton, read Jim Lawton in The Independent.
To put into brief .... he says no disgrace losing to the two best fighters in the world. Hatton took them on at their prime ... unlike JC, who only went for Hopkins and Jones when borderline sporting geriatrics.

I only caught about a minute of Hart before my eyes glazed over, banging on about trainers and Angelo Dundee with Leonard ( you're blowing it son ) like he was giving some great insight, rather than wheeling out an old tale told a million times already - I fast forwarded immediately.

Of course Nelson and Piper are cheerleaders, but so what that Hart predicted a Pacman win - he was just backing the favorite and going with the majority opinion there - not exactly an earth shattering call was it?

I'd bet if you mentioned the Marquez bothers, he wouldn't have a clue who you were talking about.

lets be real, if hatton had just laid out pacman, the moment pacman was on his feet and ok, the panel would have been creaming their knickers. yes ricky is british and it was a sad sight, but, the KO is all part of the game. the fighters know the risks, if we all held our breath because the likes of levander johnson, johnny owen, greg page (RIP all 3) etc were tragically injured due to happenings in the ring, then we would all hold our breath for a long time. there will be more to come in the sport, unfortunately.

the boys know the risk, lets not take it away from manny, he was fantastic and executed his game plan to perfection. the boys got paid well, they fought because they love the sport and want to be in there. the rewards were good, win or lose, points or ko.

I liked him on the panel. I thought he was honest and he showed knowledge of the sport.

Harty can smell a bum from 5000 miles away so you can't blame him for never liking Hatton.

Exactly. Hatton was never as good as he was made out to be and thankfully we all got to see that. It's a shame we didn't get to see it against an even lesser fighter like Judah, Corley or Mitchell and of course Witter. Hatton avoided them for good reason as we all know.

Yeah Hatton avoided great fighters like Witter to pick on bums like PBF and Pacman, imagine how scared Ricky would be of Thomas Bradley

in this topic the monkey (colin hart) is getting criticised after he's just hit the bullseye . if colin got it completely wrong then i would understand the point of the topic, but he didn't.

Even now, a fully-motivated Hatton, would do exactly to Witter as he did to Malignaggi IMO.

Colin Hart is a good analyist he's been in the game for years and years and knows his stuff but he always seems to be very irritable. I wonder at times if he hasn't become oversaturated by the boxing industry.
