These thread was supposed to be about Colin Lynes and it seems to have turned into madness and someone's personal bitterness at being given the boot by BN.

For the record I think Danny Flexen is going a great job. His state of the game feature is always a good read and he's clearly looking to help Claude and the guys take the mag further but this thread shouldn't be about Flex, it should be about Lynes.

Just having a bit of fun. It's fun to know more about boxing than the editor of Boxing News and his 'yes' men.

yeah, go pat yourself on the back, I mean judging by your views it's hardly a kudos-worthy achievement is it?
and lets be honest- BN is hardly the only thing you're misanthropic about nowadays, and this is hardly the only thread on here where someone else's efforts and input have been slighted by your sniffy, bitter, rose-tinted mania.

I thought Bomber was well-outpointed by McCallum from ringside. Bomber looked terrible at times, Brendan Ingle sitting in the crowd and Barney Eastwood doing the cornerwork. Graham was on a hiding to nothing from the start. Ok, I said it a bit bluntly but you've had your dig back now.

so next time Coco takes the time to add some insights about Roy Rutherford, RE boxers winning ABA titles with little experience, you'll be good enough to keep your sadly churlish ha'penny's worth 'eff me Roy must have been 5h1t' to yourself, then? good.

I wish I hadn't read this topic now. It has left a bitter taste in my mouth. :(

Bennie, you need a smacked bottom.

Coco had plenty of digs at me first (you must have conveniently missed them). It was time for one back. Hey, it's only the crappy internet.

You know more, too, from your posts. Why not say it if it's true.

Honestly? I'm (fairly) happy with my BN. Sure I've spotted typo's etc, but it's on a pretty tight deadline so surely a few errors can be excused.
How is the BN circulation now? Up, Down? I've no idea. Maybe someone can tell me. If things were going downhill then surely the publishers would do something about it. All this vitriol has surprised me to be honest.

Also, it was nice to hear from Colin Lynes, I've always rated him highly.

Everytime I wrote a piece (sometimes not even a preview), you left your little "where is the prediction" stamp and it began to annoy me. I know said a bad thing about you in return but I'm a writer and I know how to express myself, sometimes too graphically for my own good. On that point, if you write as well as you fought, then you must have been pretty tasty.
F uck Flex, get in the BN yourself. They clearly need extra staff and it would be nice to have at least one who can write.

That certainly wasn't meant as a dig, you regularly made good previews and discussed different ways the fight may go but you would rarely be drawn on the outcome, and I wrote that on a few occasions because I wanted to know who you thought would win. Doing previews in that manner is tantamount to prick teasing!
Thanks for saying you think I can write a bit, but my journalistic experience is zero, I enjoy putting a few comments on here but would have no interest in having the pressure of deadlines etc, I much prefer to pick and choose what I comment on in the forum.

I just enjoy the writing and, you're right, I then kind of end it without ending it, if that makes sense. Sometimes I know exactly who is going to win (as we all do) and it is easy. Other times, I have not got a clue and I leave it to Graham Houston.

Don't want to take this thread away from Colin Lynes again but out of curiosity Bennie, who do you write for now?

Largely for the Express and Star in the Midlands (freelance). I was only ever freelance at BN.

I was privileged to be at ringside at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall when Colin Lynes jabbed Young Mutley to a standstill before finishing the job. It was the best domestic jabbing display since the days of Howard Winstone but Colin, somewhat bizarrely, also has a trait of bailing out of fights if the jab isn't doing its job.
