Yes, I would have put him in the British rankings, if I had been doing the rankings back then. Lennox won the British title and fought 18 fights in Britain.

Are you sure that is the case? I don't think that a person who is born here is automatically given British citizenship. It sounds pretty silly if that is actually the case.

Dunne is on the list because he is Irish and fights out of Ireland. I started to include Irish fighters in the British ranking almost two years ago.

He is a former British, Commonwealth and European champion as well as a world title challenger. He lost his last fight, but he has still proven more in recent years than the other domestic heavyweights have.

He is perhaps a little higher than he should be, but I don't think his position is too far off.

I just decided to add something different for my reply, instead of repeating the same old stuff in response to that question.

I don't think that being concerned about the look of the list overly compromises accuracy, it might even help it.
But 'might' and 'if' are big words. If you think Calzaghe will come back, then fair enough. I think having him at #1 is a little bit daft.

Tell me, will he still be number one in five years, or do you have a timescale on when he will shift out of yor rankings?

Lennox Lewis could have come back last year, when the rumours were ripe. Can I ask why he's still not on the list then?

"If" he "might" be lured back by a mega-money rematch with Vitali Klitschko.

actually fella hes bang on correct , if your born in a country your eligible to be a citizen of that country , i personally for example know someone whos wife gace birth whilst on holiday in jamaica , their son who now plays for nottingham forest reserves is eligible to represent jamaica but has spent his whole life in nottingham. thats just one i know personally , but its definately fact . if your born their your a national of said country , thats why pakistani ladies go back to pakistan to marry there husband , get pregnant and then return here to give birth , their baby is then british and our government cant really deport the parents and leave their baby behind , the baby is a brit and has to have its best interest which in this case is to keep the parents here . hope that makes it a little clearer

If there is a big money fight out there for him, that he thinks he can win, then I think he very well might come back.

If Froch beat Hopkins or Kessler then there might be enough hype to lure Calzaghe back.

Ola wasn't just born here, he lived here for 20 years - boxed amateur in London and flew out to America with a BRITISH passport.

Or perhaps more importantly why is he ranked 9 places above the man who knocked him out in his last fight?
Rogan lost to Sexton, which meant he dropped a few places, and fell below a fighter he beat in Skelton. Since then a number of fighters have won and pushed Rogan further down the list by overtaking him, whilst the same has not occured to Skelton, which meant that the gap between the two has grown.

Hamed will enter the rankings when he returns to the ring against a suitable opponent.

Is this some sort of international law?

I don't see why all of the world's countries would have this law in place; as it doesn't seem to be of great benefit to a country to allow this sort of thing.

If Hatton had beaten Pacquiao then I could have moved Calzaghe to No.2.

Moving Calzaghe down a few positions, because he has retired, even though other fighters have done nothing to overtake him, would bring more ridicule than just leaving him where he is until I take him out.
Dioufy wrote:Tell me, will he still be number one in five years, or do you have a timescale on when he will shift out of yor rankings?
Calzaghe has retired, so I plan on taking him out at the beginning of the new boxing season, which will be September's list.

If he hadn't retired, then I would be looking to have fighters like Hatton, Froch and Haye overtake him after about a year of inactivity, if they started/continued winning.

A fighter cannot enter the list unless they have won a fight in the previous month, unless they are replacing a retired or very inactive fighter. So, Lewis cannot enter the list until he has a comeback fight, even then the opponent would have to be of a suitable calibre.

But he is American based, doesn't seem to have represented Britain/England as an amateur and has only had one fight over here as an professional.

We seem to disagree on this issue, so I have posted a thread with a poll to see what others think.

Calzaghe has not left the rankings, so I don't need to do the same with him. When I take him out then he will only be able to re-enter following a win.

Tell me, how long did it take for Lewis to be taken out then?

You should maybe make a poll of this too (still having Calzaghe in your list).

You're rankings are awesome but to me, personally, Calzaghe still there spoils it exponentially.

Can I offer some advice? If a fighter says he's retired, then take him out. If he comes back with a win then re-enter him on the manner of his opponent, or win. I just think it would get people off your back a little. Because this list deserves respect.

Mayweather's off my P4P list until he successfully comes back with a result.

Sorry, dude.

Just because you say McCloskey would humiliate Rees, it doesn't mean that he actually could.

Rees is still on the list because just over 15 months ago he was the WBA champion, which meant he had a high ranking on the list, so it has taken him a while to fall towards the bottom of the rankings.
Rees is the poorest world title holder I have ever seen fight. Rees wouldnt last 6 rounds with McCloskey.

I didn't do a list back then. If I did then it would probably have been about 6 months after he announced his retirement.
Dioufy wrote:You should maybe make a poll of this too (still having Calzaghe in your list).
I can imagine what the results would be. The reason I am not having a poll on this is because I do not intend to change my mind on this issue. He will leave the rankings in September unless there is a change in his circumstances.

Yes, as far as credibility goes it may be wise for me to take your advice. The next time a fighter retires (possibly Hatton) I will review my policy. I appreciate your thoughts/advice on this matter.

Another cracking thread. Incredible climbdown over Calzaghe. Horse you have gone down in my estimation. After all your hyperbole in the previous month's about why you are leaving him in you are now taking him out in 6 weeks time? Outlandish.

"I think it could be said that Olusegun is more British than Afolabi."

Apart from the fact one is Nigerian and one is actually British you mean?

Perhaps not. Rees is close to the bottom now, so he most likely won't be above McCloskey for long.
