Its sad that people see fit to have a go at Ricky for being the very person we all admired years ago.

At least he is not up his own arse.

I think he should quit but he has earnt the right to what the f u c k he wants to do.

Hatton was always going to have a relatively short time at the top given his lifestyle and this is something he always seemed to accept. As such he made the most of his his position by securing matches against Pacquiao and Mayweather rather than, say, Junior Witter.

However, I wonder whether now the reality of his rapid decline is sinking in he has any private regrets and wishes he could have maintained his position amongst the sport's elite for longer. It's one thing him understanding the potential cost of his lifestyle a few years ago when he was still at his peak and another thing entirely having to face the full implications of that now. I suspect it isn't something he would come out and say but it wouldn't surprise me if this was to be there nagging away at him and perhaps being compensated by a level of denial that will keep him fighting on too long.

The more I read, the more patched up, un-motivated, worn-out, weight cheating, ill-prepared Hatton sounds.

The long term elbow injury, cut prone, handled in sparring by novices, decked twice, lacking engine later in fights, fragmented preperation.

Hatton will be redressed, new lippy and a new one-liner in time for a pres conference....but he's done.

He's done well to get to 30 at the top of the game given his dietary rollercoaster and face-first style.

McGuigan was long done by this stage.

That could quite possibly require a third arm too.
Sorry for my ignorance, but what do you mean?

I was just agreeing that an emphatic KO of a world class fighter in his prime could quite possibly require all the extra help Ricky could get at the tailend of his career.

I don't think anyone should be accepting his behaviour in between his bouts.

Okay he has done it most of his career, that said, does that make it okay?

The guy has probably destroyed his insides, and who knows how it's going to affect him real life.

Yes, Hatton is a grown man, i'm not forcing him, but what's worrying is this tendency to "let it go" since its "Only Ricky, He's been doing this since day 1".

The same tendency that people had for Gazza and George Best. Knowing full well what they were doing, but accepting it due to their "Popularity".

imo, Accepting this sport of behaviours effectively gives a green light to youngsters to abuse their health like hatton is doing.

I mean seeing hatoon like that, slurring and even appearing that he is struggling to breath is NOT Okay, Just because he's been like that for a while, does not change anything. It's disgusting, even moreso that people thinking it's cool of Hatton to do so

hatton for all his faults has never pulled out of 1 fight and always made weight in every fight.

and come fightnight comes to fight with a capital F. :box:
Comes to fight with mindless nonsense and clinching.

Drinking lots of beer, fighting lots of over the hill fighters, fighting 2 primne world class opponents and outweighing them on the night and getting ktfo, priceless!

And I don't see how any of your comments here change what I was saying - I have never at any point blamed his weight gain for his lose to Pacquaio, I have merely stated that I believe his lifestyle between fights will have exacted a toll on him and shortened his career.
Boxing can be so 'old school' and blinkered at times - I struggle to think of many other professional athletes who will allow their physical condition to deteoriate so much between events/competitions etc and there's a clear reason for that.. as even Kerry Kayes acknowledges in this BBC interview:
"It couldn't be more horrific what he eats," says the man in charge of Hatton's diet, Kerry Kayes, speaking from Las Vegas.
"Anything that's bad, greasy, take-away or pies, he washes down with 12 to 15 pints of Guinness and Bailey chasers. He couldn't do it any worse.
"His mum and dad can't talk him out of it and his girlfriend Jennifer can't, so what chance have I?"
Former bodybuilder Kayes does not know the size of his task - literally - until Hatton walks into the gym on the first day of training before each big bout.
"He's usually about 40lbs overweight and it's quite a hard scenario to get his weight down and increase his nutrition to cope with the workload we put on his body, because every time he trains we need to overload his body and send a signal to it that it needs to be fitter and stronger.
"To do that it needs to repair itself from the trauma, so we need a lot of nutrients but we can't afford calories."

And you'd know that would you, given your extensive history as a poster - at least try to make it into double figures before posting nonsense, as if you had read this forum properly you'd have seen countless occasions where posters expressed concern over his weight fluctuations.

Whiteboy - I looked at your posts and I simply must congratulate you on what a wonderful insight you give the forum - well done - I want you to carry on posting as much as possible as I think I could learn a great deal from you - do not take notice of Payne or Deserter - sometimes young man I will let you into a secret - on occasions they cannot even spell their own names!!!

But back to your posts you have made - I have put some of them below because I really do feel the forum could learn a lot from you - perhaps you could be made a moderator!!!

when murray joins hatton he will be world champ within 6 months
Why use a lot of words when we have the fantastic useful insight that you have given above - why not ask for all the phone numbers for all boxers so you can persuade them to join Ricky Hattons promotional company.
no chance khan got glass chin

I personally think the above post was your best of all - it was made in response to a poster who stated he thought Khan would stop MAB - my boxing knowledge is limited as many would tell you - what was the result of that fight??

I suppose it depends on what you want really doesn't it? Do you want a load of boring bastards who live like monks or do you want people who live like normal people and actually give the sport a profile?

Too much is put on the "role model" aspect, at the end of the day sportsmen/women are doing a job and quite frankly how they live their lives outside of the sport is none of our business.

i have always had a problem with hattons weight between fights, it has affected the longevity of his career, its has potentially made him underachieve and if he is not careful he will go the same way as best and gazza.

his last interview was slurred, but i think its his manner now, i dont think he was drunk, i think he has used his own head as a defence mechanism for the last 3 years or so.

good guy, decent world champion, not a p4p great and definately not a HOF candidate. unfortunately, like naz, he chased £'s and by ditching his advisors and going the 'family only' route he has built up an impressive archive of critics.
