Exactly. Its hilarious how the Calzaghe fans try to make out that it was some great win. Lacy is awful and always has been. Calzaghe was lucky enough to get there first. Lacy is just one dimensional. As I said, he struggled to a 115-113 win over Omar Shieka before the Calzaghe fight.

Scan and upload your betting slip showing how much you made on the 'underdog' Calzaghe and wait for the congratulations to pour in.

anyone else seen it ?
I think the performance of Lacy in the 10th was a result of taking the previous 9 rounds of painful, demoralising beating.
If anyone still wants to watch the fight go to www.BruiseTube.com

I really enjoyed it. Jones can look like superman against a limited slugger. I've never seen him fight inside so well and he very active by his recent standards.

Anyone who wants to watch it can go to www.BruiseTube.com

At times he was throwing four or five even six left hooks in a row. His hand speed is still pretty incredible. Given his age and the wear and tear Roy Jones offensively against a Lacy level fighter looks unbelievable.

Let's see, you've only been posting here a week.

If you had of been here at the time of lacy/Clazaghe you'd have seen a lot of respected posters who couldn't call the fight one way or the other, in fact a lot went against Calzgahe.

Although they have since revised their view :TU:

I maintain Calzaghe ruined Lacy.
This is so funny...Fighting over whether Lacy was ever any good or not :)

Who are these so called RESPECTED members who couldn't call the fight one way or another....well they sure as poop aint respected by me.

Lacy made his name knocking out and in some cases struggling with C Level old Fighters like Syd Vanderpool, Omar Sheika, Rubin Williams, Robin Reid and Scott Pemberton.....Even the Lacy of today would pretty much beat those level of Fighters now so its not that he's moved backwards, he just isn't good enough to compete at Elite Level with the Likes of Calzaghe, Taylor and RJJ.

Having watched 3 of Lacy's Fights(Richard Grant, Omar Sheika and Robin Reid) before he went in against Calzaghe, i never thought he had a Chance but i'd admit even i didnt think it'd be a 12 rd beatdown.

Basically that was the night Calzaghe proved he was a A list Fighter and Lacy proved he was always going to be nothing more than a B list fighter who can beat C list Fighters but nothing more.
Hindsight is 20-20 my friend, love to hear what you were saying before the fight.

Lacy absolutely annihilated Reid, who had one of the best chins in the division, and had never been down as a pro, and I believe not as an amateur either.

Reid was past his best, but nobody expected Lacy to just trundle right over him, he knocked Reid down four times, and Reid was so upset about being stopped, he was literally crying. Whatever way you look at it, that was an impressively destructive performance, and that swayed a lot of people.

Remember, that Reid had been shafted not so long before in a title tilt at Sven Ottke, he was pissing all over Ottke for 6 rounds, and but for a blatantly crooked referee, who was on a backhander if ever I saw one, he would have prevailed.

Interesting that no-one has picked up on the fact he almost had his shoulder reconstructed after Tsypko.

It's all so black and white here.

funnily enough, just before the event, I changed my mind on the Lacy Calzaghe fight, after months of laughing at everyone who said Calzaghe was going to get done over, I had last minute jitters, and picked Lacy.

The truth of it is over 50% of people, well-respected people picked Lacy to whoop Joe's arse.

The further truth is that Calzaghe ruined him with one of the best performances ever seen in a British ring.

Any other theory is revisionism - FACT

Heres another fact, Lacy went tooth and nail with omar Shieka and only won by a round on the scorecards, before the Calzaghe fight.

Yep i'd have to agree with this.

Calzaghe Fans want to believe it was their man that ruined him but the Fact that in 7 Fights post Calzaghe, he has scored ZERO stoppages points more to his shoulder injury preventing him from being the Attacking Force he once was.

Ive got all his fights up until Reid on DVD.

Some of them he looked stellar and in others he looked extremely mediocre.

When he fought at the Playboy mansion etc, he didn't look like the new Mike Tyson - and was only fighting Richard 'Alien' Grant.

That said, nowadays there is some truth in that moniker.

Lacy is the new "Old Mike Tyson".

:D

the Lacy of today would beat those fighters now, because as much as Lacy has slipped from his level, thye have slipped from their lesser level.

I'm not sure if Lacy would beat that LEVEL of fighter - many feel Ipifanio mendoza beat him, and he only managed very narrows wins over Manfredo, Tsypko, and I believe Otis Griffin. Lacy's form has been dreadful post Calzaghe.

Lacy was hyped up, and it gave Joe Calzaghe a great stage to showcase his skills. No complaints from me...I would start moaning about what Joe did to immediately follow this up - a messy showboating job v Bika and a comedy cash in v Manfredo.

Some of my fave underrated fighters, such as Adamek - while not lacking for good world class wins (Cunningham, Banks, Briggs), he is lacking in a big money/big stage win. A win over some hyped up clown is just what is needed, in some cases.

Yes, indeed I did want him to win, just thought that he'd looked poor in his last few fights, whilst Lacy looked like a human wrecking ball in his last.

Anyone can have a bad night. Anyone can get caught and dropped. But Lacy was getting OUTBOXED for large periods against Shieka, losing many rounds. If it wasn't for Calzaghe fighting the Tocker Pudwills Kid Fire Mcintyres etc, people would have been picking him handily. Lacy was simply not that good to begin with. He beat an old Reid and that's pretty much it. Got his arse handed to him every time he tried to step up. Yet he is a "great" win for Calzaghe, all because he was overhyped by the yanks! :TU:

khan was blown out in one minute by a handful of very hard shots

lacy was bewildered and hurt by a huge amount of (albeit soft) punches

lacy was punished for 36 minutes, and this for my money can e the worst kind of beating.
