Just think, Enzo making that easy money for the WBO title, tucked away in his little corner of the universe.

And ovver there, the likes of Mormeck, Bell, Braithwaite, Cunningham, slugging it out for their very careers. By contrast Enzo was pulling turnips out the ground!

I don't feel sorry for him, now that it has all gone wrong. He has a loss, encounters some resistence and he can't take it.

There is no justice in the world. Deserve's got nothing to do with it, as I learned when watching a Clint Eastwood film.

one of those turnips was Braithwaite though. That win for me meant he warranted being called a champion, albeit not an established one.

It depends what perspective he has got on things

If he thought he was going to be a WBC / WBA / IBF Champion and make millions he will be disappointed

But if sees it like he was a Euro level fighter who got a WBO title and bagged £300,000 for fighting Haye...........then he didnt do to bad out of the pro game

made nice paydays being chief support to Joe Calzaghe bg shows in Caridff defending the WBO title

than a big bumper £300,000 payday to fight against Haye and he took a few heavy blows but it was over with in 5 minutes

he could buy a house or pay off his mortgage with that.............

my mate told me Enzo took home £32,000 for the Braithwaite fight

the Haye fight he made easily the biggest purse of his carerr - £250,000 to £300,000.

Dont you notice something though

Ever since Haye got paid up to £1 million pounds to fight Enzo he has been less active

I think now after that fight he is alot more comfortable for money

And while he let his body adjust to heavyweight he still has been way too inactive

I question his hunger these days................

One thing you got to give Enzo is he was brave enough to fight Haye

He did get scared on the night

But he still fought and took his lumps

And he said he would be willing to have a rematch with Haye if it ever could be made

He desreves some credit for that - having the courage to fight Haye and want a rematch

i don't question his hunger. it's just that there's more to lose, big prizes are in sight, and not forgetting that he's become a bit of a joke with how he's handled his career of recent. all the miserable buggers he shook up and showed up, will all be laughing at him every day now.

Ooh, ooh, which one?

Was it one of the ones with the monkey? I find Clint somewhat difficult to take seriously these days, you know. Everyone goes, "Ooh, a new film from the Grand Old Man of American Masculinity, the serious Grand-daddy of arsekicking & dubious attitudes toward vigilantism, let's all rush out & see it!" But I just can't work up the enthusiasm.

I mean, one film with an orang-utan, all right, fair play, a chance you wouldn't want to pass up, right? But he made, what, three of the fecking things?

I fear it has coloured his entire artistic output. Not as badly as Iggy with the car insurance. But still.

Anyway. What was this thread about again?

Average fighter, too much hype and even trying to steer him away from name opponents and true world class fighters, still got found out.

Decent British / Euro fighter - Made some money, never World Class.

I used to find it hilarious pre- Haye and after, the way they spoke about him beating all other titlist's in the division. FW and his mob sure spin a lot of poo poo :TU:

FLINT ISLAND wrote:Enzo Maccarenellis career will continue later this year when he fights in Liverpool Echo Arena.

However his career looks on the decline and he looks to be on the downward slide.

It all started with the make or break fight with David Haye where he was blasted away in 2 rounds.

Since then his confidence seems to have suffered and the Calzaghe training camp with the reitrement of Joe Calzaghe fell apart and at one stage he was training by himself lifting beer barrels ina nightclub.

He switched trainers to Karl Ince to try and find the improvement.

However including the Haye fight he has now been stopped in 3 of his last proper fights (ignoring the Matthew Ellis mismatch).

But just how good was a Prime Enzo.

We know what happened when he stepped in the ring with Haye.

But lets say Enzos prime was when he joined the Calzaghe Camp and seem to have made vast improvement.

His prime wins were when he blasted away Mark Hobson in a rematch and when he flattened Dominguez with a huge uppercut and outpointed Wayne Braithwaite by a wide points decsion.

That Maccarenelli was at the height his confidence and talking about unifying WBC / WBA / IBF titles.

Take Haye out of the equation who seemed to be the man who destroyed Macca's career.

How would a prime Enzo before he got hammered by Haye how would he have fared against the likes of...............

Jean Marc Mormeck
O Neil Bell
Frogemeni
Steve Cunnigham
BJ Flores
etc
etc
good lord...

anyway i think Prime Enzo beats any cruiserweight in the history of the sport, even nuclear powered robot cruiserweights from the future

Clue - it was an Eastwood film that wankers complained about for being too moody and not having enough action.

I like Unforgiven. Although, of course, Morgan Freeman only shows up to play the Magical Black Dude Who Has To Die So A White Guy Will Manifest His Destiny, which so makes a change. But Hackman was excellent, at least, & Harris always makes me laugh.

At least you guys haven't brought up The Bridges of Madison County, the kind of film that makes me want to take a machete to old hippies everywhere.

& I apologise for having got the number of monkey films wrong. I won't do it again. Although, actually, as Clint starred opposite Meryl Streep in ...County, I suppose there's a case that he did make that third monkey flick...

He got paid enough to buy a nice detached house - and only had to get slaughtered by Haye in 5 minutes for it.

Decent nights work.

Haye made up to £800,000 to £1,000,000 --------and he dont get paid for over time so he made sure he dusted off Maccarenelli as qucik as he could and he is set up fincially now ...............

I never believed it really

I thought he could have a decent crack but I doubted he would have been good enough

I remeber this was before Haye became a Champion - Enzo was saying in the local paper that he wanted to get the WBC and WBA and IBF titles to add to his WBO title so he could become the first undisputed champion since Evander Holyfield and the paper was talking about it like Enzo had already done it - dont get me wrong - it was a good ambtion for Enzo to have - but as that old saying goes which is very true...................its easier said than done.

for me enzo could of been a lot better but was rushed ???
if i was looking after him id take him back to the beginning and have a couple of fights (8 rounders) against small heavyweights or people that wouldn,t trouble him to much but would stay the distance.
then once the confidance came back and enzo was happy with his fighting & training then id put him in for the british title.( it would probberly be vacant as norton wouldn,t fight enzo :oo ) then if he won that you can start to build on it. ie defending the title and then move on the european level
at the end of the day he can still earn good money by fighting in and around europe. and then get a good payday before retiring ???
also i think enzo needs somone that will teach him how to box because he has always relied on his power but at a higher level it doesn.t always work. :TU:
