Well Tyson, I was one of your fans and I am now a John Mcdermott fan...........and I ain't alone pal I don't think.
Yep I always had you down for a 50 faced back stabber, one bad fight and you've jumped off the bandwagon! guess you've had plenty of practice with Keegan mind.

Mcdermott won that by 4 clear rounds for me.

EVERY meaningful punch was landed by John Mc. If I was just a casual fan I wouldn't know what to make of that. On one hand it was an excellent fight, but on the other what is the point of a sporting contest where the clear winner 'loses'.

Shameful refereeing. There must be an investigation. The board must read these forums and they must take action.

Not really much to add.

McDermott landed more, he landed cleaner and landed a higher percentage. Disgraceful.

As most expected, Fury is pure hype. A flailing arm-puncher with zero defence or technical ability.
he does have the unique technical ability to uppercut his own self

I really hope for a rematch as I doubt Fury could deal with him

Terry O`Connor scored the round 10-7 for Fury based on clean effective punching, defense and ring generalship.

Did Tyson deserve to win against John, Your Voice!!

I strongly believe that John deserved to get a points decisons tonight, He was strong and tactical, quick and inside. By ATLEAST 2 rounds I had it scored?!!!

John has had such a bad run of points decisions recently...

What's your view?

Only just getting over the decision. It was quite ludicrous really, wouldn't mind hearing from the ref first-hand how he scores rounds.

Fury hasn't got the power to make it past British.

If i had bet on John tonight, I would be even more outraged - if that is possible.

John won tonight!!!

mate.....I rarely bet.........let me just say (poll-wise) i just madeit 12-0 in John's favour......you always get a joker for a laugh goes for the least likely in the poll (although moreso in the Other Sports on stuff not related to Boxing...EVERYONE so far is in big John' favour.

He was publicly ridiculed and unlike use his MOUTH he used his FISTS to outwork and outlast the bigger, younger, "supposedly" better man. I commend you Mr McD!

Now for tonight, and remember , I'm not a gambling man but tonight I just think the bookies didn't know what the f*ck they were on about.

I had a 6 pounds bet on John Mcdermott to stop the fight in rounds 8 9 and 10 , all at 66-1 (ludicrous odds)

I had roughly another 50 quid on a 8-1 John Mcdermott KO.......and I had 25 quid on John Mcdermott to win on points, I also covered him with small sums to bomb the as yet un-punched in the face Fury, out of there in rounds 2 3 and 4. All told I had maybe 120 quid on McDermott.

I will keep the slips as I will be contacting the board myself about this UTTER FARCE. The correct decision would have left me around 300 quid better off not to mention I'd have beaten the Bookies at the boxing, again.

I'm not happy about it but in truth I think I'm equally as p*ssed off for the sport and for John, a very game, fit, and magnanamous John I should say, as I am for myself.

Correct me, I may be wrong, but I think O Connor handled the Barrera Khan fight...I was in attendance and made a stellar weekend of going to see one of my boxing heroes fight Amir Khan lol (I am a fan of the Boltoner too).........I just won't bother making the effort in the future if O Connor's involved....and that saddens me.

watched the fight on the internet tonight , good stream , thought fury won 6-4 in rounds 96-94 , it was the last 2 rounds that won it for fury

the ref should be banned for his scorecard

a rematch must happen

will watch the fight again on tv as so many thought mcdermott won

from memory gave fury rounds 1,2,3 ,9 , 10 , cant remember which middle round i gave him

In your eyes who won ?

After the much discussed farce tonight, who do YOU think won the bout ?

What's a won-won?

EDIT: Well, that's spoiled the context, hasn't it?

Terrible decision, in particular the points margin. I had it close but McDermott by 1-2 rounds-ish (I wasn't scoring seriously so lost count), I thought it was closer than the SKy commentary was making out as I did like some of Fury's early work and thought he nicked an early round or 2, but 98-92 to Fury was outrageous, definite rematch, definite rethink of career for Dave Parris.

Oi chump-chops , keep it to the boxing but well done for counting up to 50 :TU:

Your prediction for Mcdermott Fury was conspicuously absent I thought prior to tonight's fight fella.

I'm not a fcking Geordie you duck-egg.......I thought you knew that!!!!!! :witzend: I thought that was you?? although you don't support the team.......you can't be a Mackem or you'd have rubbed it right in by now (although not to me obviously)

anyway I hope your training's going well matey......mine's going superb, fit and sharp :TU: .......got to dash that's my kebab at the door.......protein man, protein! When you start to train like me you can eat them as well

another member kindly mailed me the thread......I picked up the fight from round 3 and was just glad it was still going on!!!!!! I quickly looked to McD's face early damage....it was smooth as a baby's bum. I'd backed the big Essex man you see.
I would give Fury the last round probably........but of ALL the round I saw, starting from the middle of round 3......Mcdermott bossed the contest. I feel sick for the big man.

Before you say that, you have got to remember that this is furys first 10 round fight plus its only his 8th fight. Whether he beat him or not, he deaerves credit for sticking in there at times, plus he gave as good as he got from a fighter who has had over 30 fights. I agree ita a dodgy decision,as it was not 98 -92.

SHOULD - TYSON FURY GIVE THE BELT BACK AS A GESTURE ?

Posted: 11 Sep 2009, 19:28
by Quixall
I feel that he should acknowldege that he lost the fight and state that he himself did'nt agree with the referees decision and then make moves to give John McDermott a re-match, in neutral territory, with Richie Davies as the referee, where the belt can be won, fair and square !!

That way, Tyson will still have the win on his record, but will go someway to ammending what has happenned and acknowledge that whilst he can't change the referee's decision, he can do the sporting thing and recognise, publically, that in his opinion, he lost the fight and does'nt deserve the belt.

It would also, shame O'Connor and those behind his decision, put Tyson in a better light and be good for boxing, which after tonight's shambles, has taken a serious dive in it's already shaky reputaion.

What do you guys think ?

Its a great idea but i really can't see it happening, you nght get a rematch in Tyson's back yard but if we shout loud enough at the board you never know.
