You get used to speaking to menacing people after a while. Good idea that, though!

I first met Magee at some boxing awards in Cardiff several years ago. I popped out into the hall and he was on his own having a crafty cig. He was on crutches after that terrible attack which smashed his leg to bits.

I told him I was the bloke who written the story saying he was retired (I must have had a few). He sucked down on his fag, looked me in the eye and said "Well, that's why they call me The Terminator, you know?" Class.

Then he showed me the state of his leg which looked as though it had been put through a fecking mincer. Ugh.

The only person I've ever felt really uncomfortable around was Alan Minter once when he'd had a few. You could just tell he was dying for a ruck with someone. I believe he's been off the sauce for a while now...best all round.

I think I was so engrossed waiting for an interview (can't remember who off, may have been Dunne) to care and he subsequently disappeared.

As for the incident. He got into a ruck in his Ardoyne estate with some hard nut over a snowman. Not sure of the ins and outs but that was the outline. He lives in the West of the city now I believe (when not on bail).

a bail condition is that he live with his brother in North County Don at the moment.

i was offered the chance to write Alan Minters biography for him, after having done magri's.

i wont say who said it, but someone who came up with minter warned me not to do it, because if i asked a question he didnt like he would have given me a clump. the last i heard he'd relapsed and was back on the sauce and hes known to be very dangerous after few.

as usual Carbo talks sense. You couldnt relax around Eamonn - you'd make some innoxious jape and the next thing is your arse would be on the screed.

Julian reckon Kelly was a better fighter than Magee, yes Kelly was classier but without a dig - Eamonn had it all except the will power to knock the sauce on the head. I have heard off a few people that he was on the booze for the whole week leading up to the Hatton fight - possibly a exaggeration but probably some truth to it. There certainly are pictures of him with a can of Mangers in his paw AFTER the Hatton fight - this was before Magners was readily available in Britain so where did it come from?

Anyway I remember his fight against Urkal being one of the most entertaining fights I've ever seen - and would love if anyone could send me a copy of it if they have it.

Was he defeated outside the ring as well as inside? I've always heard mixed things about Minter -some say he can be really nice and others say he can/used to be a real bully.

I have heard an alternative version of why Magee got the hiding and it did not involve a snowman! More to do with refusing to help a certain dissident republican who was being abducted from a pub Eamon frequented. Lose/lose situation for Eamon really. That attempted abduction incident set back the peace process for sometime.

The man's on skid row. Real good amatuer, and a decent/dangerous Pro.

I was working on a new hospital being built and one of the gaffa's on site was from Bethnal Green, flat nosed fella and about mid 50's.

He said that Minter got filled in once in the changing room's by a fella he knew, after Minter was being a total prick.

I had no reason to believe him or disbelieve him, but from going off the other comments it would seem to ring true.
