That's a very interesting bit of trivia, and even if Williams beats Pavlik, he still won't have defended a world title belt successfully. Amazing for a guy with victories over Antonio Margarito, Verno Phillips and Winky Wright.

Mooresy would smash JC Jnr to bits, Be tough for the first 4 but after that JC Jnr wouldn't be able to match Mooresy in any department!!

Autobarn wrote:Anyway, I love these threads. A few ppl rightfully anticipate that Jamie Moore - the dominant British light middle of his time, now a brutal EBU champ - might perhaps earn a world title opportunity.

And what do some misers do? Bring up a fighter, Paul Williams, who is campaigning at a different weight, who could be the worst style, worst risk-reward matchup.

If you are a crowd pleaser and you win a light middleweight world title, what do you do? Do you try and grab one of the big welterweight names (Cotto, Mosley, Margarito, Berto)? Do you perhaps try and get a fight vs a popular Irish fighter, in a big stadium? Or do you think "fvck it, Larval will give me more respect if I fight Paul Williams?

Worth pointing out that Williams is making p4p lists, yet has never defended a world title belt successfully.
Again it's no surprise to see autobarn sucking the balls of a british "pressure fighter" style.

Williams was brought up months ago and people on the forum said Moore had a chance against him, you included. Some said he could beat Williams. So lets see if he is on that level when he fights Rhodes, who was beaten by Lockett. We all remember Locketts pathetic effort against Pavlik don't we? This is the same Pavlik who will take a good hiding from Williams. So there is a pretty good gauge of ability there. Lets see how Moore does with Rhodes, the fight will be very revealing. Moore is another one dimensional fighter who will eventually get exposed by a boxer. Rhodes, a man beaten by Gary Lockett, might be the man to do it.

read it yesterday, a good read. interesting what moore says about rhodes, who can only win when on top and who can't really turn a fight around when he's losing. he finds a way to go the full 12 without getting hurt, he said. i wonder if this is a bigger problem you get with the ingle style. some fighters just can't get into the fight vs that style. but when a fighter gets through the tricks and the awkwardness, what do they have to fall back on, the ingle fighters? they often look a bit lost. seen it in rhodes-grant (what i saw of it), a # of naz fights (usually bailed himself out with power), thaxton-romanov.

i wonder if it will be a bit like murray v thaxton.

i reckon moore wins. he's looked so sharp and accurate with his shots. moore won't be mithered by rhodes' shots!

you wish

it's a good opportunity, it qualifies as a domestic fight for sky, a worthy european title given that the mandatory didn't want the fight (canclaux), and a WBC elim that may get the winner a world title shot. i bet if jamie moore had a choice, you'd think he'd be in with sergio martinez for the WBC title next week.

rhodes is a tricky domestic operator, and has done well to come back from those 3 defeats and make something of his career. he has a lot to fight for next week, an opportunity he earned vs vuma, someone at least as good as lockett.

look Larval, watch some DVDs of "all sizzle, no steak" fighters. flappers and slappers and runners with good legs and tassles on their shoes. fast flashy hands, punches from the elbow and you sititng their with a shit-eating grin from ear to ear

as ever, you disregard masters of pressure fighting. more fool you, Larval.
