Froch v Dirrell - Was it really a robbery?

On a scale of 0-10, was the Froch points win a robbery?

10 - At least Dick Turpin wore a mask - blatant as you like

To be totally honest everyone is saying Dirrell ran?? I don't think the kid ran I just think he used his boxing skills, He moved well for the first 4 but then slowed the feet down and was simply beating Froch to the punch. Judges like pressure for some reaso though??

Although Froch was bringing the pressure at times he was like a headless chicken trying to nail down Dirrell. He should of been able to deal with Dirrell a bit better after preparing fr him for almost 3 months!!. I said it when this tournament was annonced that it woukd be the end of Froch and I stand by that statement.. When Kessler and Abraham get hold of him he's had it!! Abraham will happily stand and trade with him all night and that'll be Froch's undoing.Kessler may start slow but he'll also get to Froch in the end..

Wonder if he still feels he'd beat Calzaghe on that performance last night..
calzaghe has had some absolute shocking performances in his career.i still think he would beat calzaghe. the only way froch could get close to dirrell was being a headless chicken bomber.kessler is nothing like dirrell.froch will ko kessler and outpoint abraham
Calzaghe would do another Lacy performance since Froch has no defence and fights like he thinks he's Roy Jones with that guard. Froch would get stopped on overwhelming flurries hitting his chin at will.

Abraham's limited in skill but not as shockingly as Froch is, Abraham would win the war or win the points game.

Kessler has the heavy right hands to put Froch out, Froch is getting hurt finally since going to world level.

Froch is like Margarito except Margo has his hands up at least.

I really wish I could watch this fight but I can't find it online. I don't know why they take them off youtube it's really annoying. Haven't they made enough money from the fight to just let us watch it?

I'm British and we do get behind our fighters (which does seem to annoy Americans a bit but a bit of friendly animosity is OK- you guys should love your fighters more) but as much as I want him to be Carl Froch isn't very good. I thought the Pascal fight was just two guys hitting each other, without much skill on display. In the Taylor fight, I gave Carl one round (I think the 10th) and thought he was very lucky to get the KO. Poor Jermain looked really good in that fight. I reckoned after that Froch had been exposed and if he re-matched Taylor then Taylor would've won.

It kind of annoyed me that people went on about Froch being a 'caveman' and a throwback fighter. He's just sh*t. Like I said, really would like him to be better than he is I don't hate the guy. It's just that he represents us and I think he should at least have some skills and defense.

If this fight really was a robbery I am embarrassed and apologise on behalf of the Brits to to any US fans. It really seems like the overwhelming feeling is that this is the case.

This really makes me miss Calzaghe. Joe really was a good fighter. I think he should stay retired as he's been out too long now but I think he would retire Froch. Jeff Lacy prior to his Calzaghe beating probably would've beaten Froch.

Sh*t fighters don't beat Pascal and Taylor. You didn't watch the fight, so shut up.

It was a close fight, could have gone either way. Froch looked poor but Dirrell didn't want it enough. What was most disappointing was the way Froch failed to force the pace on Dirrell. Makes a joke of Mick's claims that "Froch is a much better fighter than Calzaghe".

i had been mingling with some extremely beautiful women in an Edinburgh gentlemen's establishment shortly prior to this one and was just retiring to bed. I have not seen or heard it yet...

This fight result.........(not to mention some of the TV work going on).......sounds like it would have p*ssed NEBF right off, what after the O Connor fcking Fiasco, and the one before that, and the one before that, and the one before that........

personally I'd chucked a 20 on this @ 13/2 for Dirrell to take Froch out, and was quite confident about collecting.

It sounds like the Michigan man ABSOLUTELY MULLERED OUR WORLD CHAMPION

thanks Damo, a POV from somebody there is always helpful....(I ain't had time to read all posts, maybe others were).....I'm notoriously sh*t at keeping score as a fight is going on....that's the ref's job....I'm watching for entertainment, although I normally have a sound idea of who has won at the end

(incidentally I though the Brighton lad who fought Paul Holborn in Sunderland on Friday (Drew Poits, 8 - Holborn a point off for spoiling).....was absolutely robbed by Mr Wright!)

I'm glad I missed this one now, I had been trying to get a few mates to go but they couldn't!! JUST AS WELL!!!

My post is about the card.....I haven't even been a*sed to read the results yet as it was THAT UNINSPIRING!!! And for such a HUGE main event. Really Poor.

I mean this with absolutely no disrespect to the lad, who clearly has an iron will, and is fitter than a butcher's dog....but to me, Tom Glover can't punch.....and I don't mean has no pop, I mean his punches do not look fluid or effective at all. The man really has done well with what he's got......BUT IT IS NOT CHIEF SUPPORT TO A WORLD TITLE FIGHT FARE MICK HENNESSEY YOU NUMPTEY, and Amar, I have never been remotely impressed with....just looks a big Welter slugger.....he'd be 2 and 10 in the States.

I've formed an opinion based on 20 minutes scanning the 3 or 4 Froch Dirrell threads, I didn't see it myself and I'm glad my friends couldn't make it in hindsight, which put me off attending.

Dirrell won the fight for me. Froch hardly landed his right hand at all and his jab was falling short all night. Dirrell landed many more clean shots than Froch simply outboxed him with his movement. It wasn't a total blowout, but Dirrell won.

Thats 2 for Froch and many more for Dirrell. When the large majority has one guy winning and he doesn't get the decision it is only natural to hear the robbery cries. Froch isn't finished but he looked ridiculous at many times last night and I have a hard time seeing him winning this thing. He didn't bring the notorious pressure his fans always talk about and the fact that he was hurt worse than Dirrell ever was rasied questions about his supposed granite chin.

hard to argue one way or t'other, no?

It was such a dispassionate performance from both men. At no point did i feel emotionally involved in the contest. Which is the key with boxing

I'm willing to believe that it looked different from ringside, but let's not forget, that thaxton and rawling both had Frochy losing.

Crowd Physchology my friend, if 8000-10,000 people cheer every time a punch is thrown by 1 fighter (whether it lands or not) you will get the perception that those punches landed even if most of them didnt, being 50metres away makes it very hard to see when a punch misses by an inch. Its much easier to see punches landing close up on the big box

I was thinking of going to this, my sis lives 10mins down the road so it would be convinient, glad I didnt go and watched it home now after your descriptions, cant be assed with crowd violence.

HOWS IT EVERYONE BUT THE 2 JUDGES , AS I ALREADY SAID I DINT HEAR A SINGLE PERSON AT THE ARENA THAT SAID THEY THOUGH DIRRELL WON . NOT ONE PERSON . I WAS VERY SURPRISED TO COME ON HERE AND SEE SEVERAL PEOPLE QUITE STRONLY FEELING THAT DIRRELL WON . IM STILL GOBSMACKED . AGREED IT WAS PANTS AND FROCH DIDNT DO AS WELL AS NORMAL BUT DIRRELL RUINED THE FIGHT AS A SPECTACLE WITH HIS NEGATIVITY . AFTER THAT PERFOMANCE ID EXPECT KESSLER TO KO FROCH COMFORTABLY BUT I DONT THINK FROCH WILL BE THE SAME NEXT TIME AS KESSLER WILL BE MORE OPEN , I FEEL THAT FROCH V KESSLER WILL BE A CLASSIC AND IF FROCH SOMEHOW WINS IT YOU WILL ALL JUMP ON HIS BANDWAGON AGAIN

I thought Dirrel won clearly, Froch didn't look good because he "used the wrong tactics" he looked poor because he just isn't that good, slow and easy to hit.
Dirrel landed more punches, harder punches and won more rounds, true he was guilty of spoiling tactics and deserved the point deduction, but Froch could do feck all with him the whole fight.
