Whatever the outcome this a great domestic dust up and both fighters deserve a great deal of respect.
Jamie for offering this voluntary defence and Ryan for taking it.

It says a lot about their characters that they have taken this fight when neither of them had to. What's more, is that they could'nt be better guys as well. Super friendly and open and supportive of other fighters. May the best man win and here's to a great night for Britsh boxing.

If Rhodes can find the right punch, he may have this by a KO.
Thats what I'm going for. Can get 5-1 on that.
Well, I called it!!! Did I bet?? NO!!!!

Yeah. Sorry mate. This was an amazing fight.
If only, if only, if only fights like this could be shown on BBC again, boxing would be right back up there in the public favourites.

Excuse me a bit of personal indulgence before I hit the sack, but I really want Beagleboy on here.
Not a prayer is my view, but he has constantly posted nothing but negativity for months and months about Rhodes.
I've asked before and I ask again - who's your beef with ?
How about finally disclosing exactly who you are ?
Any chance of you actually retorting with a constructive post, using your obvious wealth of boxing knowledge ?
Doubt it.
Autobarn - care to expand on your theory that this would be Murray v Thaxton again and (quote) Rhodes will be "battered and eaten" ?
Finally Christymetcalfe - sorry, no one's "dicked over Rhodes"
You really should pick your words more suitably.
Good night, God bless.

I feel for Morre. He had done enough to at least get a crack at a world title but bad luck with injuries and promoters treading water means that his chance at world glory at154lbs has probably gone

absolutely gutted for moore. when you look at how he can cut the ring down, and when you see the likes of froch just letting opponents run off to the sides...
jamie moore has produced world class boxing, and i just hope he gets another opportunity to deliver. he's been in some of the best ever domestic battles, and he has dominated euro level opponents. how sad that he didn't get the world title fight, didn't get the big irish cash in that he might have wanted.
but if ppl keep on lining up domestic opponents, then perhaps he was destined to lose at domestic level. surely the macklin win was omen enough, and this is three years later (BTW, in no way am i blaming mooresy for the way his career has moved). pressure fighters like moore - and i think moore is probably the best of 'em, along with john murray - need momentum in their careers. (this is something that joe gallagher has hammered home time and time again to me, re his fighter murray). despite the WBC elim tag, there was no guarantee that if successful, moore would have got his shot while he could even still make 154. it was not a final elim and obviously chavez jr was placed atop the "World of Bandits & Crooks" (as the rgeat James Ellroy called 'em) rankings.
jamie moore's a gladiator, and hopefully he bounces back stronger than ever, perhaps up at middleweight. sergio martinez's promoter did say "show us the money", "make us an offer"! While money will have been an issue, it might have been worth it, cos look how far moore's career may have been set back.

umm, mate, you realise, you've made a post about a great great fight, without ONCE mentioning one of the fighters inviolved or paying respect to HIS efforts?
bad form IMO, i mean unless i missed some long analysis of yours 'what ryan rhodes did well and what he did brilliantly on friday night' have i missed something, or have you just writted a great win off as a symptom of moore 'being matched at domestic level so he will lose at domestic level sooner or later'???
was this win for rhodes actually nothing to do with him????????
i mean is basically your explanation of rhodes' win, 'moore wasn't moved up quickly enough' and is some clearly european level class act vs rhodes' what? domestic plodder>?
oh no sorry, i get it, moore is a pressure fighter and pressure fighters are special and different, need a whole different career trajectory they do.... i mean, i agree to an extent but- what about reflex based fighters? is it not remarkable that rhodes is able to be effective in his style when we all know reflex based fighters don't actually age all that well either.....?
hang about? what am i doing? surely i am not trying to suggest that NOT ONLY PRESSURE FIGHTERS suffer from the effects of age? this is madness! am i suggesting that rhodes had just as much to overcome, in terms of age/ long career (actually since he has had more fights and been a pro longer, we may even say that Rhodes had more porblems of that kind to deal with than Moore did)/ having reached a plateau?
surely, then, that merits mentioning?
my god what am i suggesting? that pressure fighters maybe don't need an artificial set of excuses manafactured for them after the fact? am i mad enough to suggest that ALL fighters probably need to be moved along at a decent pace, assuming they are experienced enough? surely i can't be suggesting that not just pressure fighters but boxers and punchers also may not benefit from reaching plateaus in their career and stagnating?
if anything was proved on friday night, it is that rhodes is AT THE VERY LEAST on moore's level.
and that he WON that fight. i mean, if you missed the good things he was doing I'll gladly give you a technical analysis of how he managed that. i mean, what, with the way Moore is so great at cutting the ring off and all, he must have done something right.....?

haha, i mention rhodes later in a different thread. i was interested in the fight due to moore, but rhodes has also made a fan of me. that's the big positive of the fight.

'barn is a compact, concise pressure-poster who wastes little motion, datsue.
he only waxes lyrical about fighters who plod forward behind a high guard, generally.....

Full credit to Rhodes. I didn't think he would be able to withstand Moore's powerful attacks, but he toughed it out whilst using good movement to minimise the effect of Moore's punches and produced damaging shots of his own to finish off Moore.
Gutted for Moore and I hope he can come back.
I'd like to see a return. Excellent fight
