Couldn't believe it was the same lass as was in it a few years ago. Tyson Fury could do with her conditioning coach - she must have dropped about four stone.

A particularly stupid mate of mine years ago couldn't understand why he'd put pounds on a few weeks into his Slimfast regime.
A few questions later, I realised the moron was taking the shakes AS WELL as his normal meals.

Yes, but don't forget what such a brilliant stoppage can do for a fighter's confidence.
Martinez deserved a KO victory over Cintron. The referee mucked up. Martinez should beat Rhodes.

Hopefully things pan out for Rhodes. Even getting a promoter with clout won't get him Martinez over here. Moore was prepared to trade for chump change, with Martinez turning down a big payday to come to these shores. What other avenues are there for Ryan?

come on, is this happening?
i have just watched all of rhodes' comeback (championship) fights. his punches are really good, short and sharp. his offensive skills are fine. he is big at the weight and has a tricky style. he won a world title elim, vs a top 10 fighter (jamie moore). he has earned the right to face martinez, also coming off a war, which many feel he won up at 160 vs paul williams.
is someone going to step up for ryan rhodes? is there a promoter who believes in his chances vs sergio martinez - a guy we have always respected, but who has now emerged as a serious threat to the "pound for pound" elite. can anyone out there force this fight to happen?
it could be the right time, with chavez jr in banned substance disgrace. not that he should have ever been in the WBC wankings in the first place.

He deserves a shot at Martinez but I really dont see him winning it Martinez is a class act picks his shots well and is difficult to hit

i think martinez is too fast and fluid. but i feel rhodes has really come along well, and could put up a good fight. he has proven himself against moore and vuma, and he can certainly crack.
the only flaw i've seen in rhodes is that he seems to take bursts of smaller shots. obviously this could be bad vs martinez. because martinez is one of the most fluid combination punchers out there. and yet, rhodes' defense was impressive v jamie moore, a fighter with very good punching technique. notice how moore's lethal double left hook (head, body) combo never landed flush? rhodes seemed to block it with his arm/shoulder.

so baysangurov is the EBU mandatory, after canclaux took a different career path. however, reading this report of his latest fight,
http://www.fightnews.com/?p=33614 , the man who pissed about jamie moore will likely go for a WBA elim to fight yuri foreman.
what does that leave for rhodes, the stocly polish slugger, proska i think his name is?
sergio martinez says he'll fight chavez jr even if jr is on steroids, and in mexico as well LOL. good easy cash in if the smooth boxing argentine can get it. he deserves it after IMO what are 2 raw deals in a raw, albeit 2 raw deals which have give him greater exposure.

Martinez would dominate Rhodes I'm afraid. Different levels.

well martinez wasn't always this good - though he is outstanding at the moment - and rhodes seems to be getting better. rhodes did KO a legit, top 10, world class fighter in jamie moore. moore was even in ring's top 10. rhodes and moore put on a sensational fight in their worthy WBC elim. the punch picking, the accuracy, the surgical quality, the power and the grit = outstanding. i bet if angulo and, say, kirkland went at it, they might have more energy, freshness and raw power. but the quality of their shots and the technique would be nowhere near as good as what rhodes and moore demonstrated. yet it an angulo or a kirkland won an elim, ppl would be screaming for the fight to happen.
rhodes can at least do a few things in there, and martinez has been down a few times.
would e a travesty if rhodes - and also rendall munroe -didn't get their shots after winning extremely punishing, gruelling WBC elims. someone should send the WBC a DVD of rhodes-moore, a fight that would put some good mexicans - and bad ones, like JCC jr - to shame.

Rhodes would get outclassed, it wouldn't even be close. Sergio isn't going to stand in there and trade with him and he is a much more elusive target than Moore, not to mention faster, more accurate, more experienced, etc.

well moore's a different kind of fighter, i.e. he brought some seriously heavy artillery.
martinez obviously is different. a real slickster. he must be the slickest fighter i've seen in years. he can start a combo, slip off to the sides, and continue the combo. he is so fluid, can flow from one move to the next, can do seemingly multiple things at once. slicker than grease, that argie!
i doubt rhodes can outbox martinez. but he is worthier than chavez jr, and surely the fact that he won a tough elim goes some way to preparing him for the next stage. rhodes seems to be hitting extremely hard, and if he lands, you never know how it can change the fight.

Atobarn,
What if the EBU title fight between Rhodes and Baysangourov doubled up as a WBA Eliminator ?
