Tickets range was 55 to 1,000 bucks. The joint was half full...so where did all the millions fall from??
Certainly not form OZ Main Event & US Versus
RJJ was co-promoter, so any reported Guarantee is absolute bullshit

In case you didn't realize, the fight was scripted along the line of recent Fenech/Nelson shindig, but Greeny, to make himself ultimate OZ hero, ditched the script so he could claim he stopped 'Legendary' RJJ

Acer Arena holds 21,000 people. Half full there would be 10,000 or more people. Then you have "pay per view" receipts, sponsorships, etc.

There were 4 classes of ringside tickets, the first five rows selling for $1450 per seat, the next three for $1240 each, the next four for $990 per seat, the next four for $770 per seat. I do not know the rundown for circle and bleacher tickets. After PPV receipts Green was supposed to get $6,000,000. I do not know what Jones got.

again anton you speak as if you are the expert?
a quick call to the green camp reveals you have;

1. no idea!
2. nothing to do with green camp, so no idea again
3. can't count as the joint had over 16,000 and it only holds 18,000 for the setup they used
4. no clue as to what they got from Oz and USA TV
5. and no, they wouldn't tell me what he got paid but they did have to guarantee $2m from what I heard

anyone out there that thinks anton is the oz expert (as he professes to be) in boxing- HE'S NOT!!

Is it a case of what Roy Jones can't do, I can do better? :-?

It seems as if he's still in Jones' shadow after 16 years.
It's similar to Vitali Klitschko fighting Danny Williams. Vitali was aiming for a defence against Tyson, then Williams spoiled the script, so the next best thing was to get the man who beat his Plan A.

Also, Hopkins will want to beat Green, because in a way it will be a skewed kind of revenge. He couldn't beat Jones himself, but the next best thing is to get one over him in a linear fashion.

HBO turned down the Bhop v Adamek fight.

I guess that means the odds of Hopkins v Green in oz just shortened.

Schaefer adds, "So then we basically have two guys; we have Bute and Green. And these are the two names we’re focusing on in the last two days. As a matter of fact, yesterday (Tuesday), I met with Danny Green in my office with his advisor, Gary Shaw, and we have been going through the numbers for a Hopkins fight happening in Australia and there is some interest from the networks for that fight, as well. Then we have been looking at a Bute fight. So I had conversations with Bute’s promoter, Interbox, and we have been going through those numbers, as well. There is interest from the networks for that fight."

To maximize his earning potential, Hopkins will most likely have to fight outside the United States.

"Now I’m going to be fine-tuning the numbers," said Schaefer. "I need to get the exact numbers from the overseas revenue sources and from the domestic revenue sources and then see what kind of deal structure we can do with the various camps and then go to Bernard and tell him, “Look, here is the deal. If you go to Australia’ -which he’s willing to do- ’this is what the compensation package would look like.’ And if he would be going to Canada, which he’s willing to do, as well, ’Here’s what that package is going to look like.’"

Schaefer says that Hopkins would prefer to get back into the ring in March. But another source says that a bout with Green in Australia would most likely have to take place in early April.

if the commentators said there were 10k then they r blind.

of course depending on what time u looked into the crowd u could have said there were as few as 50 people.

i'd be astounded if the commentators said 10k were there as the main fight was about to start.

anton, u have been told on here by a few people how many people there was likely in attendence so unless we r all lieing i think its safe to say that by fight time it was just a couple of thousand empty seats right up the very back.

I heard 18,000 were in attendance of a possible 23,000

Obviously that's good for Aus, but what on earth was HBO's rationale for rejecting Adamek-Hopkins??

I'm pretty sure i heard the commentator quite clearly say 16000, not quite full but from observation there weren't many seats available.

I also remember trying to buy tickets on the sunday, there were fuckall left.

Because he is a bit older than Archie Moore was when he found himself sinking to fighting some idiot wrestler.

How the hell does a boxer who has won one of his last four fights get rated no 1 light heavy by "Boxrec" anyway?

You'd hope not.

Green would get crucified for taking the fight.

If he beats Cameron, i want him to fight Wlod again. Then Tarver with strict testing, then hang em up.
