Former European cruiserweight champion Terry Dunstan has been jailed for eight-and-a-half years for two attacks on women. Both assaults were on staff of Slug and Lettuce pubs in central London in a bid to make them hand over keys to the bar tills, the Old Bailey was told.

thank you for finding this, I was going to look this morning but found better things to do with my time...Journalists adding bollocks to titles for readership value....sensationilising stories to sell papers etc...Attacks on the women, one was attacked and not by Terry, the other was not even touched...ok...Speak it and speak the truth, either that or shut the fornicate up.

There are boxers who are really decent lads; they don't throw their weight about, are good company, are not big headed and it wouldn't cross their minds to use their hands unless there was no other option. Some boxers are just about the opposite to that. They love to use intimidation and the threat of physical harm and to bask in the 'respect' (fear) that their prowess instills. Some of them will be crooks and villains. That's the way it is.

Lorn, this is clearly an emotional issue for you, but you're not acknowledging the full picture. That report is from the BBC, not from a tabloid paper, and so isn't driven by "readership value".
It is presenting the facts as known to them and the court i.e. if Terry did indeed stay quiet rather than 'grass' on his accomplices then how are they supposed to know he wasn't the one responsible?
This isn't a personal attack, but as someone who originally trained as a journalist and worked in regional papers I can tell you that almost without exception they are decent, intelligent and hard-working people who care about the truth. Not only that, as any of the other guys on here involved in papers will tell you, you have to do a lot of legal training to ensure you are as accurate and balanced as possible and don't defame individuals.
The exceptions to this rule are the national tabloids, but anyone who regards them as being representative of most newspapers and journalists knows nothing about the profession.

And Terry gave an interview to The Sun prior to PF about how it was easy money "minding" gangsters!

Money money money. Dunstan'd been better letting the rotten bullying bastards get whacked. They only act like they do and get away with it because they pay for muscle to stand over them. It may've been easy money for Terry but I bet that the big shots would've had a taste of their own medicine if he'd not been there; and that wouldn't have been a bad thing.
