Does anybody believe there is a difference between East Coast and West Coast style boxing. I think West Coast is more Roberto Duran style and East Coast is more Sugar Ray Leonard style. In order to win the Silver Gloves you must definitely control the ring at some point. Augee Tyler outboxed his opponent clearly, but his back did touch the ropes more than his opponents. Thats not a region 8 style of boxing. My point is I think they should have an officials meeting and instruct the officials and coaches on just what they are looking for. That is why the JOs is a much better tournament. I wish the Silvers and Ringside had digital scoring. You at least get a chance to correct what you might be doing wrong. No total shocks with digital scoring. You see your boxer losing and have a chance to correct it. With digital scoring you can see just what judge pushes too many times. Maybe at least for the 14/15 year olds. They are getting ready for the JOs. How would you feel about digital scoring in the Silvers.

The Silver Gloves vs Ringside. The Silver Gloves is the only advancing tournament for 10-14-year-olds. 15/16 have JOs too. A boxer can participate in the Ringside by paying the registration fee. The Natl. Silvers boxers for the most part have won at the local and then regional levels. Because this is the only advancing tournament for 10-14-year-olds, I would say that winning the Silvers ranks you #1 in the US. The argument could be made for 15-years-olds that winning the JOs ranks you #1 also. This is true, but since only the JOs title will lead directly to a boxer competing outside the US, I would say the JOs is more "important" than the Silvers for a 15-year-old.

Now, if Ringside becomes a ranking tournament for open class fighters, then that would make it a much more important tournament for open fighters. I was only talking about the Jrs. though and specifically talking about Luna winning the Ringside versus the Silvers. I'm not sure if he is 15 now.

John Brown has a lot to do with the awards. Do you see the Ringside getting more play because of better awards. The belts are much different at Ringside. I get Ringside becoming a ranking tournament one day. It's in the making. Belts for Silvers get lighter and lighter each year. Ringside spoils the winner. They use to give a belt, sweatsuit, hat, and suede jacket to the winner. Thanks John!!!

Ringside can get all the play they want and of course it's because of the awards and the fact that it is marketed as a "World" tourney. But if it becomes a ranking tournament, they cannot allow non-US citizens to participate so then it will not be a world tourney. Not sure if the ranking is worth it for them. John gives away the Silver belts too and they will never be better than Ringside as long as he is. I don't think they need to be. I know (and so do the people that should know) that the Silvers means more.

No, you just have to see if it gets posted I guess. I can ask Justin if he recorded his bout.

You are ranked #1 ONLY by Silver Gloves. Due to the age differences between SG and the JOs, the SG does not factor into the USA Boxing JO rankings.
