Calzaghe vs Warren
Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
Sorry Tony but that is just way off but I can understand your stance as he pays your wages for now.
Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
You see what these retailers are doing to avoid creditors. CVA's you name it, then a pheonix company rises from the ashes as if nothing has happened.
Landlords and suppliers are getting knocked all the time. THAT, should be illegal.

To settle it Joe C should come out of retirement and box Frank.

Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
Ive been too harsh on Joe earlier in this thread.
Joe leaving Frank after all he's done for him for his final fight was wrong - and whatever went off with the company going bust after was wrong too.
But in closing if either them was a bit more honourable this situation would never have happened in the first place would it?
Going on to Tony Bellew's comments - it's no secret that Kessler vs Calzaghe was the poorest HBO viewed show that year and that it lost a heap of cash.
A court ordered Sports Network to cough up an extra £149,000 towards stewarding, following the fight amongst other things.
The only winner was Kessler, who earned more in that single fight than his entire career added together. Hence the reason he fought with a broken hand. That money set him up for life.

Yes, fighting with a broken hand is a real 'excuse' ain't it fella ?mickey1975 wrote: Getting your excuses in early in case one of Joe's victim beats your hero?
I expect Froch to beat a two-handed fighter on his own soil, possibly by KO.
Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
Not really anything to add, that hasn't already been said.
Warren is in the wrong. JC is within his rights to pursue this.
The BBB of C will not do anything, EVER, against Warren. The reasons, well you guys can work that out.
PS This thread will be deleted soon, i am sure, like most that have anything negative to say about Warren.
Add Freedom of Speech to the list of things that Warren doesnt appreciate.

I don't see any reason for the thread to be deleted.
Everyone will have an opinion on the rights and wrongs of this matter on both sides.
If the winding up of Frank's business was totally compliant then Joe not only loses, but faces a couple of massive Lawyer bills.
If it's the other way round then Wazza faces the Lawyer bills and paying Joe.
I still think this matter will get settled at the doors of the Court with a gagging order on each side, and we'll here no more on the subject.

If someone took 1.8 mil of me I'd go crazy BUT guys Im trying to look at the bigger picture, It works both ways loyalty.. I think Frank showed Calzaghe an awful lot of loylaty IMO, To leave him at the very end was wrong IMO not just on a business sense but morally too, You gotta remember Frank backed Joe to the hilt and even when he lost 150'000 cos Joe pulled out against Glencoffe Jhonson he still stood by him!! There also wasn't 50'000 people in that millenium stadium guys believe me!! I boxed that night and there was't nowhere near that many!! Kessler and Calzaghe were paid huge amounts for that fight too, Not to mention the 2.5mil Calzaghe got to defeat a fighter he'd previously defeated in 1 round..
Joe was't selling arena's at all, I remeber Hatton bailing him out in Newcastle 1 time and comin in on 4 weeks notice cos the show just weren't selling.. You couldn't expect him to fill arena's against the likes of Pudwill,Salam etc etc, All of which he was well paid for!! I think he should have stuck it out wiith Frank BUT hey that is just my view, You guys won't look at it like I do as I have a friendship with only half the story BUT I still believe whichever way you look at it Joe was wrong to leave Frank..

Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
I can totally understand Tony Bellews reasons for siding with his promoter. But he really does need to watch in case his strong stance on this issue doesn`t come back to haunt him one day. Boxing is a buisiness where it can take years to build a solid foundation ... and just one punch to put you down at the bottom of the heap clawing to get back up.
But I am amazed that anybody could think that fWank treated calzaghe in an almost charity fashion
... like every other boxer who fWank has managed or promoted .. it was done 100% in a buisiness fashion. If he wasn`t making some sort of money, or atleast getting some kind of benefit .. he would have let Calzaghe - or any other boxer - leave asap.
Gomez. Kessler and the broken hand myth
... every guy who loses or just looks bad will have a reason/excuse. His latest one is he over trained for Ward:TU:
There is no proof the hand was broken before the fight .. I don`t see him whincing when he throws it ..

It was an industry fact - and anyone on here will tell you too. They even asked him in the post fight interview and he shows dignity and denied it. Barker, Magee etc who sparred him all knew his hand was buggered.
You also need hands to batter your way to victory in a boxing match, preferably hands in which the bones do not break when they thud against the skull of an unyielding opponent.
You could also be forgiven for supposing that this is all about the brittle and frequently busted hands despite which Joe Calzaghe has fought his way through 10 remarkable, undefeated years as the holder of the WBO supermiddleweight title.
You would be wrong. The real story of this coming weekend's battle to unify three world championship belts is hidden in the clenched fists of Calzaghe's Danish rival for supremacy at their poundage.
Mikkel Kessler is believed to be shielding a hand so damaged that he has been unable to spar for two weeks and is not expected to do so before climbing through the ropes at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Camp Kessler are playing down whispered reports of the injury and, bone deep though the bruising is said to be, it will not jeopardise their man's appearance before the most populous fight crowd ever assembled under one roof in Britain — 50,000 and rising under allegedly's vigorous, Barnum-esque promoting.
However, this revelation will offer hugely relevant encouragement to Calzaghe and all those betting heavily on the Welshman to add Kessler's WBC and WBA titles to his collection.
According to Tv2 Sporten, former WBA/WBC super middleweight Mikkel Kessler (39-1, 29 KOs) is reportedly ready to begin training once again after his operation on his right hand following his November 3rd, 2007 12-round unanimous decision loss to WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe at the Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff, Wales. “It’s going really well with it (the hand). The swelling has gone. Now I just need to test it very soon, and that’ll be quite interesting” Mikkel Kessler tells TV2 sporten.

hmmm .. its clear you won`t give Calzaghe even the slightest praise
Ok then. But do you really think the purse Kessler got for facing Calzaghe ... was attractive enough for him to more or less give up his title? Which, if he really had a useless hand going in with is what he effectively did. I`m pretty sure you do .. I`m just not so sure anybody else really does..
I forget who said it. But they said that pretty much every boxer will enter the ring with some sort of niggle or worry. But it only becomes a deciding factor when they lose

You know when I read that, and hear the authentic voice of Frankie whining to his mates, I wonder why Fast Frankie was so evilly pissed at Calzaghe leaving him - sounds like he was bleeding cash in his effort to bring happiness to Joe. FFS he must have saved money by Joe leaving....Bomber 1 wrote:If someone took 1.8 mil of me I'd go crazy BUT guys Im trying to look at the bigger picture, It works both ways loyalty.. As for 50,000 at the Kessler fight - well the source for that is Warren so either its true or he told porkies. I was there too and 50,000 is not that far out in my view. And just think how much Warren made from the Manfredo fight - that too packed out the stadium with millions from the tickets and the total cost of the opponents that night (including the awesome Bobby Gunn) was about 35p and a bag of crisps.

You've just declared it a myth and now ive exposed you. So you shift it to 'oh well, now it's an excuse'.
So what is it, is it a myth or an excuse? you need to decide your line of attack on me.

I asked Kessler about the hand story recently. He told me that he did hurt the hand in sparring. He had it x-rayed but it came up clear, so they assumed it was just bruised. However, he did miss two weeks of sparring. He said it did not affect him in the fight, apart from that his timing was a bit off through lack of sparring.
A few months later, the hand was sore again, he went for a scan and they found a small fracture. He did not use the hand as an excuse for losing.

Re: Calzaghe vs Warren
I'm actually an insolvency lawyer and although I am not in full possession of all the facts in this case it definitely looks like Warren has delibarately put assets out of the reach of one of his creditors (Joe Calzaghe) which is prohibited under UK insolvency law. You are simply not allowed to wind up one company and move the assets into another thereby removing any obligation you have to pay the people you owe. If this were allowed then we would all do it.
