Putting this fight on Primetime, Sky ppv or even Sky Sports wont make Froch a household name.

I think they are implying it will be on terrestrial tv, ITV 4 had lots of viewers for Barkers last fight so maybe just a 1 fight deal???

If Gomez on page 1 says its on primetime, then its almost without doubt going to be on primetime.

If that is the case Froch will still only be known to boxing fans.

Froch should try and do what Haye did and get on every possible chat show he could to try and sell the fight but wouldnt have the David V Golaith edge.

or could always go down the Alex Reid route if he wants to be a house hold name!!

I'm guessing primetime live with ITV on delay (but we won't officially know this untill after the primetime broadcast - ala Froch vs Dirrell).

I completely agree, but at the end of the day, Froch just wants big fights and not fussed about big fame. Carl would much rather drive to the gym, than drive to the Paul O Grady show. So long as boxing fans know his name, that's all he is concerned with. Being household public property is not his idea of fun.

Whenever he does hit the road - he mainly does stuff for inner schools round Nottingham and stuff to spearhead knife crime and so on amongst our local area. One his sparring partners is a community youth officer for a run down area of Nottingham and he gets involved with that kind of stuff close to his heart.

Forgive my ignorance but can you order Primetime on Freeview? Or do you have to get Sky?

To be honest i think Carl Froch is already a household name, certainly to the casual sports fan as he's been on Live ITV1 and BBC1 shows quite a few times in the past and its only really been the Dirrell fight that they wouldn't have had access to see due to the relatively low profile of Primetime tv channel.

I know some people wont be impressed but he did get a letter from the British Prime minister(Mr Brown) after his Fight with Pascal and Gordon said 'that was one of the best fights he'd ever seen'.

Also i still think Froch had one of the best Promotion films ever done for any British Boxer that was done by the BBC

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOjcFiC-CLA

If Carl keeps winning and somehow manages to win the Super 6 he'll get the praise from the Mainstream tv and media he'll deserve.

primetime have updated their website.

http://www.primetimelive.co.uk/

says abraham v dirrell is on mar 6th (i understand it is postponed until later in the month)
and costs 5.95

also says froch kessler is exclusive to primetime.

imo having these on primetime is better than not having them on at all. i used primetime twice and thankfully had no problems either time. for their first event the 2 main fights were froch dirrell and abraham taylor. alot of people who paid did not get to see abraham taylor and then everyone got to see the froch fight for free. i can understand people being unhappy about that. to be fair i heard very few complaints with the kessler ward show although i suspect their was alot less people interested in paying for that and not as much demand. i think primetime could do worse than do some sort of promotion (ie give a cheap fight card free to people who subsribe to a card. they need to do something to get the public back onside.

At least it's getting shown! I actually think Primetime can do quite well, their first show was badly dis-orginised but surely they will learn with experience.

The payment issue/activation system has been done away with. You can pay through screen and activation is instant. Without telephone line needing to be connected.

Primetime news site on its way and heap of other fights too.

No virgin yet, but otherwise some big strides being made behind the scenes and all will come out in the wash.
still says phone line needs to be connected on web site

Have primetime got the funds to market this like sky did with Haye, not likely. Primetime need to get this onto virgin.

This is again a complete farce. I obviously don't know what's gone on behind the scenes bu if it went on Sky (normal not PPV) then it would do great viewing figures I'm sure.

Piddling round with 2nd rate brand new PPV channels is not the way to build up any kind of mainstream fanbase, which is essentially what Froch lacks to go onto the next level.

Hennessy, hang your head in shame.

well thankfully Froch is guaranteed decent coin from showtime, because the UK side of things must bring in feck all.

I'm waiting for the fight camp 360 episode where the promoters and Ken Hershman are in a board room discussing revenue generated from the various TV outlets. Imagine Meaty Mick would feel about two feet tall.

Hopefully they'll get it on Virgin. If not, I'll watch via their Internet stream. I hope they keep the £5.95 price going for their streams. It's a fair price.

Anyone blaming "Meaty Mick" Hennessy for this is completely barking mad - they should retire from their "keyboard warrior" duties and perhaps find another more suitable hobby.

Hennessy is being severely hampered in my view "by boxing politics" and "TV executives" who remain intent in shutting him out - instead of looking at Hennessy's previous quality shows and to add "quality" stable of fighters they seem intent on allowing other promoters to basically serve up what is in my opinion a shower of sh*t on our screens. Sky for example seem to thoroughly enjoy showcasing mismatches and unexciting, predictable fights - I would add although he takes a lot of stick on here - Mr W arren seems one of the very few promoters at this time to be able to showcase a "quality" undercard and a reasonable top of the bill.

Sky TV need to take a long hard look at themselves - no wonder boxing is not getting rave reviews when the TV executives seem to have "quality control" in place for some but when it comes to others - they seem in my view quite happy to turn a blind eye!!!

Hennessy is a bloody good promoter with a very good stable of fighters - W arren no matter what he does will always take un-necessary sh*t - its time for Sky's other promoters to come out of the comfort zone and dig deep into their pockets to see if they can match "fans expectations".

It is MH job as a promoter to be ahead of the game when it comes to boxing politics and TV executives.
If he cannot deliver mainstream TV for a world champion in a competition such as the super six he is clearly not doing his job properly. I'm sure he is trying hard and there are many difficulties in this snakepit of an industry, but it is his job to overcome them.

To a point I agree - but boxing is one of them sports where things are simply not done on a level playing field!!!!

I never said there is a level playing field, it certainly was not for FW when he started, in fact it is prob fairer now.
The point is for a promoter to do his job properly he needs the guile and acumen to overcome such obstructions. MH is hardly new to the game and he still can't get tv for Froch in the super 6
