Hope to see him lined up soon against Nathan Cleverly- that could be a real classic.
At some point promoters are going to have to put on fights like this, or interest in the sport will decline.
KO inside 2 for me, this fella is as bad as the Africans served up for Cleverly, but it will give Bellew a title and like for the Welshmen, it is a good opportunity an oppurtunity he can progress well from.
It is typical from FW, giving his boys a good payday, getting them a title, and moving them into good positions

Tony a very good prospect I don't think he needs to fight a good fighte now if he can. He may be stupid for supporting a to second bit football team!

He certainly was- and I'd like to see him in England again.
However, to put this in perspective, Edwards is a good fighter, but not a great fighter (with no disrespect to him, of course.)
It was a good fight because it was well matched.

That guy has fought as low as 105lbs - a strawweight really!
The commonwealth board should reward him with a shot at the inaugural commonwealth light-flyweight title vs Usman Ahmed!

Will not happen for at least 18 Months, both fighters are FW fighters. Clev will fight for a world title within a year and hopefully win, Bellew will be picking up the belts he vacates and then when the interest and money is right they will fight. Bellew will maybe the harder hitter but Clev will be way too fast for him, Clev to win inside 8 rounds.

If both men keep progressing that's a fight everyone will definitely want to see. I neither man gets derailed and Fwank is actually willing to match two of his own guy's.

This fight will happen if both fighters follow the clear path Frank is paving for them and keep winning, Frank already has the wheels in motion believe me (Tony will vouch for this as he is always very honest on this forum 8) )

We were well overdue a win against your lot mate.. To be fair though I still think United will win the league and the champions league as long as they keep Rooney fit!!

All I can say is that it is a good job I care more about United doing well than England because come World Cup time, Wayne is going to have nothing left in the tank. He looked shattered on Saturday. He needs a couple of weeks off.
I've never quite understood the logic of clubs who complain about too many fixtures yet still drag their lads in for intense training all the time. It's within their power to give them time off in between games and/or scale down training.

Liverpool express Tony Bellew races to his first proper title shot when he takes on Ghana’s Atoli Moore for the vacant Commonwealth light-heavyweight title on the Paul Smith-Tony Dodson show in Liverpool on March 12. The title was made vacant by new European champ and pending maths university graduate Nathan Cleverly.
The unbeaten Bellew turned pro just two years ago but did everything – and more – in the unpaid ranks to befit such fast tracking as a pro. He probably won more England vests than Chris Bessey, if not as many ABA titles (three), and won them way up at heavyweight.
I was there when Bellew made his pro debut in Nottingham in October 2007 with a solid two-round stoppage of tough Welshman Jamie Ambler. I remember he looked surprisingly good at 12st 7lbs (I had my pre-fight doubts). I remember the referee made Bellew change his gloves in the ring before the fight. Maybe he sensed a horseshoe.
“Bomber” Bellew has since gone to 12-0 (8) and built up a reputation as a puncher, a natural finisher, a light-heavyweight to be avoided by more battle-hardened, more experienced rivals such as Ovill McKenzie. If he could dominate his heavyweight rivals as an amateur, you just know he is immensely strong at light-heavy.
It all spells t-r-o-u-b-l-e for the unbeaten but inexperienced African visitior, who is bound to be strong, muscled, fit, willing and very, very tough. These Ghanaians are competitors, proud men, hard to budge. They get slated in any pre-fight discussions for their raw-looking records (and they do lack polish in the ring), then perform commendably and bravely on the night, mostly for the full 12 rounds.
Expect the gentlemanly Bellew, increasingly compared to his fellow Scouser (and the less gentlemanly) John Conteh, to go for a quick win in front of his home fans. He might pull it off but more likely settles down, digs in the body shots and picks the head shots on the way to a late stoppage or a unanimous decision.

bennie did you write that or paste it?? if so your a very good writer, but i dont agree with the gentlmanly take on conteh, id say conteh is a top gentleman outside the ring & a hungry animal inside it & bellew is showing similar character.

it's great that conteh will be there, as the ex-boxers are allway's purist's & if they are showing an intrest it tells you there is alot to be excited about.
also its good for fight fans to see a few old familiar faces in the crowd popping out the woodwork.
