I agree, i thoroughly enjoyed reading it. Howard Rainey play's more than just a small part in this book as he does in another favourite of mine 'Looking For a Fight' by David Mathews. Rainey sounds a wonderful character, i wonder if any of his inventions ever took off!

Agreed but I vividly remember reading a passage towards the end which predicted the comeback more or less exactly as it played out and ended with Tyson bloodied and battered. Hardly a Nostradamus worthy prediction but I read the book 15 years ago and rememeber it clearly.

I also liked that the author had no agenda with the main players, unlike many other Tyson biographers.

Tunney by Jack Cavanaugh is one of the better boxing books I've read of late.

I remember really enjoying Geoffrey Beattie's (psychologist on Big Brother but don't let that put you off...) 'On The Ropes' following a number of fighters from the Ingle gym, including Herol Graham, Naz and others. His later book, I think called 'Prince Naseem & The Shadows of Boxing' was a complete con and basically cut and pasted a lot of On The Ropes if I remember correctly.

I agree with whoever recommended the Tyson-Douglas book and I feel duty-bound to give 'Atlas' and 'Four Kings' another mention - top drawer the pair of them.

it was me and it turned out to be a book i really enjoyed when i thought i wouldnt. Another good book is the Frank Maloney book which is a good insight into the modern world of UK boxing. i wouldnt mind mind reading a allegedly book as i'm sure he has a few tales to tell but dont think he ever wrote one?

i am reading "The life an crimes of Don King" again and forgot how bad he ripped Witherspoon off, shocking stuff.

Fwank did write one years ago,it was crap and seems to have been airbrushed from history.Even the man himself says he is going to write his autobiography without mentioning the one he has already done!Must admit though,if Fwank did write one,warts and all,it would be superb.There was a book "lords of the ring" that was largely based on alledgedly but i think he sued the writers arses off and got the book pulped!Many years ago though,he will have had a lot more stories to tell since then

did not realise that barney eastwood had a book out. is it actually out yet. i cant seem to find any info on it. i guess ill have to listen to the show to find out more.
